If There Are No Such Things as Magic

@sakura_drop_: Bakamina's "cool" quality might've dropped seeing as I cut off a lot of what made her cool in the first place. XD

@m00nchild: Ahaha... I don't think that tells me how you came to the conclusion of how you thought it was Rena, but that doesn't matter. ;3 The person that knocked Acchan out... Although I did supply two clues, they are pretty hard to find actually. Lol. There's actually a very nice clue to every character's identity. ;)

@White Hawk: Hm. OwO A new reader of this fic. Thank you for commenting~ :kneelbow: Your wish has been granted without me really realizing it. LOL.

I don't know what to dooooo... I'm running out of my precious yellow lined notepad paper specifically for writing... The yellow notepads I bought aren't the same... Office Depot's yellow notepads complete me the most. Target's notepads cannot compare. </3

It's a lot of money though within my parent's standardsssss... ; o ;

Onto the story. Enjoy, lovely wotas of AKB48.

Chapter six

It felt like the cuffs that were on Atsuko's wrists were burning on her skin from all the thrashing she had done to attempt to lay on her side, but failing heavily. She rubbed her wrists to soothe the dull pain. She was currently sitting atop a stone bed in the back with her knees to her chest, cold sensations running through her skin every once in a while. Her stare at the door persisted in the dim light.

Within the day and a half she was here, they had reluctantly released her of the handcuffs that latched her on the chair that now sometimes served for the bastard that was next in line to beat her for small satisfaction, muttering words like "Because of you, I can't go back."

'Back to where?' her mind would retort. 'Hell?' Like she cared.

It was lonely, but it was like any other day she would have had. She was waiting for someone to release her from the dark and allow her to lay on an actual bed unlike the hard cemented one she was on now.

There was dried blood on her cheek that stopped from bleeding further. She touched it momentarily, feeling the uneven dried blood and her body ached from the nonsense beatings she had received during her stay here.

Suddenly, there was a quick clatter of locks before it stopped. The door snapped open. A brighter light compared to the one she had blinded her as she threw her hand up to her eyes and squinted on instinct. Her hand was yanked from her as a cloth of chemicals seized her nose and her mouth. For a moment, she fought but only proving it futile when her body went limp and her consciousness went along with her body's will to stay awake, making it the second time she forcefully lost consciousness in three days.

Yuko could only watch as two lone wolves stared at each other at the opposite wall. As the only middle, Yuko felt awkward being in between them, and Yuko did not do awkward. Sometimes.

So she did what she only thought she could. Looking at the quiet but intimidating girls, the silence and atmosphere got tenser and tenser. "Just kiss already!" she screamed.

Both girls snapped out of their game and looked at Yuko. "Ne, okotteru?"

"Excuse me?" the other asked.

"Kissy, kissy. Chu~ chu~" she said, gesturing a kiss with her fingers. "You know, that thing when your lips touch her's in a sexy, hot, passionate make out session and then feel up each other's-"

"No," she looks at her in an accusing way.

"You know, most people would've stopped me at sexy," Yuko said "Are you sure you don't want to do it?"

"No, I don't," she confirmed firmly.

"And why not? I mean, what's so fun about a staring contest without really eye sexing each other?"

"We're not sexually frustrated unlike you obviously are."

"It doesn't look like it to me~"

The girl throws a menacing look at Yuko before turning away with the other girl trailing behind her and whispering a small phrase curiously to the taller half, earning herself a pat on the head. "Ne... okotteru?"

"Hey, wait!" Yuko yelled, reaching out to the two girls. "By any chance, are you already in a club?"

There were faint whispers around her, edging her conscience back to reality again as her eyes were greeted with white blinding fog and a painful headache. Her brain hurt more than it did the last time she was knocked unconscious, probably because of the chemicals she was forced to breathe in.

She groaned softly and turned her head, trying to lay on her side as the whispers stopped. It barely registered to her that the surface of what she was laying on was soft, and she dug deeper into it. It was warm, much unlike the cold radiating off the wall in the room she was locked in. Her wounds didn't hurt as much and she could feel a clothed bandage over her cheek.

A soft echo of her name was clear to her when her eyes opened slowly and could not adapt to the brightness of the room. "Turn off the lights."

The closest one and obviously more worried one than most was Sashihara, who awkwardly was on the bed with her, gripping her arm in anxiousness. On her other side was Peace, putting on the last touches of her bandaging.

"Come on now, Wota. You're going to kill her arm," Bungee, a Hormone member, said. "She's going to be awkward with you on the bed!"

"It can't be helped, Bungee," Shiichan, another member said. "Maeda seems to be really important to her. I'd be worried if any of this happened to you, you know?"

Atsuko put a hand on Sashihara's. Slowly, Sashihara let go in comprehension and helped her sit up instead. Atsuko groaned as she let herself up despite the headache, her other wounds issuing no pain. She looked around to familiarize who else was there other than those she heard. Her eyes were still squinted but she recognized the rest as the majority of Team Hormone, two of whom, excluding Sashihara, were her regular roommates. Leaning against the bed's headrest, she heard a question being asked.

"What happened?" Peace asked. "What did you do?"

"...nothing," Atsuko replied. "I was careful not to get caught."

"Then how did they catch you?"

Atsuko was silent for this question, unsure to answer it. How the hell did it really happen?

"I don't know..."

Takahashi flung a fist at another inmate. One after another, they would keep coming and coming until she was in need of rest, but she wouldn't let that be the case. She kicked one into another, elbowing one from her side. She spun, going in a 180 degree and kneeing one last attacker until they stopped.

Takahashi found the opportunity to finally say something. "Holy shit, Otabe. You gain enemies like a business tycoon earns money. No matter what the heck you do, they'll always keep coming! And to think you just arrived."

"So what?"

"Weren't you supposed to be shy?" Takahashi said for the last time before getting ready for the barrade of attackers coming towards her and her current partner in action.

Otabe scoffed and had a grin. "I was until I saw you were here," ended their conversation as the new wave of attackers started.

"How's outside?"

"Still fucked up. You know society."

"Anything changed?"

"No, just the old school. Some of us sneaked in at night been burned that stupid place down to the ground. It was amazing, I tell ya."

Takahashi laughed, punching the shoulder of the girl beside her. There was no hatred or intention in the hit, just mere playfulness. Takahashi sat up and brang out her hand while Otabe was down, who gratefully took it and helped herself up. "You're an idiot. Still fierce... but have you lost some fire?"

Otabe stared at Takahashi. "No. Shut up, Takahashi."

Another around of laughter for Takahashi. "Sorry, I was kidding. Are you in a club yet?"

"No, I don't want to be."

Takahashi smiled. "Alright, whatever, but when you do, I have good connections," she walked. "I'll see you later?"

Otabe, instead, followed Takahashi. "I don't have anything to do anyways. There's nothing wrong with tagging along, right?"

Takahashi shook her head silently, strolling the halls and ending up in the hallway between the cafeteria and the bedrooms. Without an appetite to eat, she headed to the rooms, and passing by a room full of laughter and as it was a rare sight to see, Takahashi peeked through the small window sill that was made for the guards to spy. (No one liked them for a reason, of course.)

In interest, she saw Atsuko at the head of the bed with a soft smile gracing her face. Takahashi stared at it, burning it into her mind as she's forgotten how it's looked like after several years staying in the hellhole they called Prison Hope.

She turned away, remembering Otabe who was at her side.

"Where's your room?" Takahashi said before walking on. "I'll help you get there if you need it."

(Matsui/970308) "You look weird. I'm still not used to this new image of yours," A girl said, playing with another's soft locks, touching them softly and snuggling into the nape of her neck. "Did you have to cut the beautiful hair you had before?"

"No," the other said, leaning into the former. "I just felt like it. It was a bother, anyhow," She snuggled closer. "I'm cold... warm me up."

"It can't be helped," the girl said. "You cut your hair and you never wear your jacket anymore."

"But it's funny," she chuckled, bringing up a new topic.

"What is?"

"You weren't this close to me a few months ago."

"Shut up and keep me warm."

The girl chuckled more, holding the girl tightly to her chest in a blissful silence. "Nezumi, you cold-blooded mouse... I love you."

Somehow, I don't know whether I just like it or I love this chapter. NezuCenter at the end~ Cute Gekikara? :D

I was really determined to finish this a week ago, but since I was on break from school, it was hard. It was an average of 3 small paragraphs a day until three days ago. LOL.

I hope you enjoyed it~ Ah crap it's 3:35 in the morning.

I got to admit that I already loved the prologue, but as usual i was too lazy to comment and then I somehow forgot about your fic in between, but now I came back and it's as awesome as I remember!
That Yuko and Geki+Black? scene... Somehow I can totally picture it!
And Otabe's character is great. Absolutely great.  :yep:

great story mixing all MG together.

I wonder if the MG3 is the main plot for the story or it's going to be a original story...

Anyhow, it's going to be interesting.

Thank's for the story, can't wait for the next one to come.

I'm sorry for not getting anything in for the last... 3, almost 4, months. I swear, I have a majority of the next chapter finished. I've been really pushed against the wall with homework, and Tumblr honestly wasn't helping, if any of you have followed me.

I guarantee you that I haven't forgotten this fic. I have a motive to finish it, and I will.

Since I was on hiatus from JPHiP for at least two months, and then barely appearing in the last month except for about 4 fics, I haven't a clue about what goes on here.

BUT!

Not only am I here to tell you about my own status update, I'm also here to tell you that Contest48 is back! Remember the contest back in the fall when someone would submit anonymously and at the end there would be votes and the judges would pick the first place winner? Yes, it's back! Not on JPHiP though. It must be hard to manage both places after all. There is now a third place and rules still apply, plus several changes. Unforunately, I have failed to inform you about this before the submitting period. You have 3 weeks if you are interested. 5 entries have already been made. If you're interested, go to contest48.tumblr.com!

As I'm not accustomed to commenting without a chapter, direct replies to the last chapter and any comments after this post will be replied to in the next post I make here. I hope to finish the chapter within a week! Until then, goodbye!

If There Are No Such Things as Magic

@bimbo: CenNezu/NezuCen scares you? Why? :? About the Atsumina, we'll just have to see. ;)

@fffff: Otabe is such a mysterious character... too mysterious... Thank you for remember my fic and coming back though, lol.

@kuronekosan: Hello there, Taka2. Hello. LOL. Yes, I'm trying to deepen my story. I've contemplated many ways my story could go. These scenario choices seem the best. I'm unsure about the next chapter. I haven't planned ahead yet. Aha.

@cisda83: I wonder as well...

@Yui Oshi 48: yuioshi. Hola. lol. I might have TakaYui, I might not. It only depends how my story goes.

@nik11: Ah. Thank you calling it interesting.

@_abby_, @K-popJ-popAWESOMENESS, @arrow27, @KojiYuu44, @m00nchild: - w o b Here it is! Your replies are so short, I can't think of anything else to say to you but THANK YOU FOR READING. ; w ;

I'm so sorry. This is a lot shorter than I expected. I realized that I have to eliminate a lot of the characters I wanted to use, unfortunately, like Yukko (SKE48), Airin (SKE48), Maachun (NMB48), Nana (NMB48), Wakaharu (HKT48), Annya (HKT48), etc., etc.. Many of the members I intended to use, especially since my story isn't made to be so long to begin with.

And with that, I encourage you to continue reading!

Although her wounds didn't ache painfully, Peace had forbid her from taking a step out of bed (unless they were for daily necessities...) for at least a week. She complied to Peace's request.

During the time, Peace always came by as appointed for each meal of the day, delivering her meal as if she were sick in bed. Some visits began with a quiet girl, introduced as Paru, accompanying her as Peace's partner. Although, most visits had only the messy roommate of hers.

As soon as the week finished, her feet led her outside of her door, making her a victim to piercing stares. As if instinct, she let her feet guide her at the foot of the Rappappa doors. The chitter-chatter of the Rappappa members forced her to hesitate, but hesitating wasn't her thing. Slowly letting go of fears, she opened the door and quietness was the only heard factor she heard, save for a few clings and clangs, a sign that some were eating. Her becoming cautious steps seemed to echo loudly in her ear. Eagerly, a person in front of her waited patiently watching her move closer. A smile glazed over her face, the said person, Oshima, made a good friendly gesture to come over.

Following Oshima's gesture, she took her steps to close their distance against each other. Oshima hollered out loud, "On with your business, you lazy rouges!" Like magic, the deafening silence disappeared and only sounds of chatter could be heard again, only softer.

A question flew out of Oshima's mouth, "What happened?" Atsuko was unsure of this herself. "C'mon," Oshima pat the seat beside her. "Sit. I'm not going to bite... I mean... not really," she smiled childishly.

Trusting Oshima, she took a seat next to her before Oshima asked again. Still, her mind came to no real conclusion.

"It must've been a real fuckin' pain, huh?" Kicking her feet up to the chair in front of her. "I'm been there, 'cept they frickin' handcuffed me to the sink. Unbelievable, huh?" She rubbed her hands a bit.

Unable to find anything to continue the conversation, a silence followed. Neither spoke for a very long time and the chattering around them didn't stop, easing their awkwardness.

"What was it like?" Oshima asked another question.

"What was what like?" Atsuko raised her eyebrows.

"Your life, Maeda. Before all this. It's been at least a month since you came in... but who's really counting?" Oshima said. She paused for effect. "I want to know more about you, Maeda."

This time, Atsuko squinted. "Me," she said, confirming.

"You," Oshima replied. "Should I go first? I was a problem child and I didn't have much to live for. My parents are dead and my grandpop and grandma are better off without me," she said with harsh fondness. "And who the fuck cares about school?"

Another pause. "You?"

"My parents were leaders of separate yankee groups. I have a little sister. An adopted one, too," Atsuko looked at Oshima with a dead stare. "And?"

"You're not a very sociable person, are you?" Oshima said. "You didn't have to be such an... invert? If you're going to be like that, you're not going to be very wanted here. Not saying that you already are, looking at the situation, but... I want you to be the next big one."

Atsuko let a confused face settle onto hers. "Big one?"

"The Teppen."

Sashihara didn't understand how she got into this situation to be honest. What was an innocent walk to the Rappappa room going to do? Somehow, she ended up having a crazy maniac forcibly put under her care by some guard in a hurry. To make it worse, it was the exact same one who basically harassed her a week ago.

No matter how many times she ran what happened through her head, she could not understand the situation. She rushed with her own room right after, hoping to catch Maeda about what to do, oblivious that she had just left. She slammed open the door. "Maeda-san!" She was met with a room empty with any occupants.

Frustrated, she thought of finding Maeda, only to oppose to her own idea. She didn't want her teammates to see her with this girl. Her hair became messy as she was tempted to rip her own hair. She only wanted advice!!

Groaning, she walked in, reluctantly inviting the girl in. The girl observed each bed before grinning and point at her bed. "That one's yours, isn't it?"

"How would you know that?"

Her grin turned into a smirk. "It smells just like you."

Sashihara blushed, amazed at the girl's sense of smell. "You're just a pervert. How do you even know what I smell?"

Suddenly the girl was close to her, pressing her against the door. "Because I know exactly what my things smell like," Sashihara blushed harder at the close contact. "You're only cuter if you blush... Sasshi," she licked her lips again after looking at Sashihara.

Pushing the girl off, Sashihara yelled, "That's it! J-just sit on the ground!" She hurriedly climbed to her bunk. "And how do you know my nickname?!"

"It's too logical to explain, Sashihara," the girl said.

Sitting down, the girl shrugged. "I don't like being called 'you' all the time, you know? Why can't you say Kitahara? Or do you want to call by your own cute nickname?" she smirked again.

Sashihara glared. "And so?"

Her smirk fell and she whined. "But Sasshi is cuter than Wota, you know? Am I not allowed to call you that?"

"No! You're just a pervert! Perverts don't get to call me anything!" Sashihara exclaimed. How could she get a pervert mixed up as a maniac?!

"Well... I don't think that's too far from the truth," Kitahara said before smirking again.

Holy. Fucking. Shit.

Despite talking to Oshima about less than casual things, Atsuko was not playing attention to their Teppen. The conversation of becoming the next Teppen threw her off immediately, and felt completely unreal. She was a lone wolf, not a leader. She wasn't raised to be a leader; she wasn't cut out to be a Teppen. It would be a totally new experience for her.

Around her and Oshima, a few members from Team Hormone and Team Habu were listening to Oshima go off telling heroic stories in her life, whether from her or another. She tried to make it as interesting as she could without destroying too much about the truth.

She leaned on the couch boredly. Her head tilted to the side, letting her see fell view of the doors. She could see the back of someone who had just left the Rappappa room, and as it got farther, her stare became intense. She excused herself from Oshima's story time and followed.

Turning a corner, she dodged a punch aimed at her stomach. For a moment either moved from their spot. The intensity in the owner of the fist's eyes pierced her as much as hers did to the other. "Atsuko, come with me."

She let her long hair sway as she leaned her head side to side to crack her neck. Messy locks brushed against her cheeks while a sigh escaped her lips. The person in front of her spoke directly and shortly, voice dead without any enthusiasm. She listened to the plain soft speaking girl.

(Shimazaki, 940330) It was a tour, and the girl was acting as her guide, telling her the dos and don'ts of the prison as bluntly as possible. As it came to an end, the two continued to walk together, the atmosphere nothing close to frightening or menacing, however nor was it friendly...

Finally the comfortable silence was cut. The curly haired shorter one turned. "You're pretty familiar, Yokoyama."

Sparking barely an interest, Otabe replied, "Am I?"

There was no reply. "And?"

There it started a battle of gazes. Neither could break it, with the intensity it suffered. A call for the shorter half broke it apart, followed by a girl. "Paru, are you finished?"

A nod from the girl. The girl turned to Otabe, asking kindly. "Would you like to come with us?"

Otabe smiled a mysterious smile, thanking the girl, "Thank you but no thank you."

The girl nodded, introducing herself as Peace before leaving with the girl, Shimazaki. Both the girls Peace and Paru, let her fingers entwine before leaving Otabe behind. "Lovers in a prison cell huh?"

Mukuchi felt cramped. The space wasn't small but she pushed her ear tightly into the door. She was a quiet person, but she was no Komimi. Her ears on the other hand were very on-and-off. There were very few days were she could hear up to par as Komimi, some days in which she couldn't hear as well at all, and sometimes she would follow Akicha on those days.

She contemplated to open a crack - just a crack - so she could hear better. And she did with no worries.

There, several feet away beside the door, stood a short haired beauty. If known any less, one would've thought she was a pretty boy. Commonly known by others as a sneaky rat as everyone knew not to trust her. If not everyone, then her at least, and a handful she knew more. She listened carefully.

"Isn't it fine?" the short haired girl said. "You told me to work with you. Consider it as a change of plans in your book."

Mukuchi listened uncomfortably. Work with her? With the prison warden?

Mukuchi wrinkled her face a bit in small disgust at the thought. It didn't seem pleasant at all as words were exchanged between the two, Nezumi and the warden. Her ears twitched up, similar to the way a cat would. Approaching footsteps in the distance. Quickly, she scrambled to her feet, forgetting about the open door and ran the other way.

From a distance, she didn't hear a chuckle of mischievous come from a smirk.

"Another rat, eh?"

Okay, now here's the unfortunate part. Although I just finished a quarter and am on break, my grades are dropping. I cannot afford to write in class. Although it all focuses on my insomnia, the factor is that writing is still a disturbance. I will be writing on some days, but I don't think you should expect another for a few months.

I'm sorry. Very very sorry. I know I'll lose many readers for this. :kneelbow:

But know that I love you, those who are still and will stay faithful to me. :gyaaah:

Don't worry, I love anyone who will read up to here and has been here since the start. :wriggly:

Ah.. Yuko wants Atsuko to become 'teppen' (the top)... why?

Who is Atsuko's adopted sister?

Who attacked Atsuko once she left Yuko's and asked her to follow?

Paru and Peace are together... Yeah

Yokoyama Yui... why did she get send there?

Ara... what Nezumi and the warden are planning?

Will Mukuchi able to tell someone... before she got silence?

What's going to happen next...

Can't wait to find out

Thank you for the lovely update

Guys, I just made this really long meaningful post about why I am putting this on hiatus while I was on my phone and my phone erased everything, and I can't be bothered to remember everything and type it again.

Long story short, I can't keep postponing updates and I am tired of myself doing this. Writer's block has been bullying me and whenever I do, something called the evil idea dust bunnies come by to help out. But they really don't help. I've decided to finish my studying and the list of promises I've made for my friends, and finish the raging war against Writer's Block and Dust Bunnies (so I found out they're actually working together from my spy resources) before coming back to this story because if I start a new story, in reality I can't be as great as some who are able to update monthly with their multiple stories. I will probably never update any of them again. I am compromising with Writer's Block and the Dust Bunnies, and they tell me they want me to write something else for a while. So I will. As soon as I can stop them from coming in all different directions, I will return with my maji. ("MY MAJI IS ONLY FOR YOU, READERS.")

If these stories turn out to be in the age range of JPHIP's forum, then I will post it here. If you, cough cough, get what I mean. HAHAHA...

Thank you, readers. -inserts firework show ending with "I love you. Majide."
