WMatsui: Growing Up
Matsui Jurina is known as one of the most famous idols in all of Japan. At the age of 11 she became famous worldwide and even now as a 16 year old she is still well known. Everyone loves Jurina and the more she grows the more popular she became. Jurina had everything from money to fame. She was indeed Japan’s idol. However there was one thing that Jurina didn’t have that she had wished for the most. A childhood. Jurina never really had a childhood since she became famous so quickly and never had time to hang out with friends or be a normal teen. No Jurina was bounded by the chains of being a celebrity and there was nothing that could free her from the binds. She thought about doing something outrageous that would ruin her reputation but she knew if she did then all the people would ridicule her for the rest of her life. She didn’t want to live a life like that so she had no choice but to smile and do what her upper tell her. One day though Jurina had just finished a recording and was now heading home. On her way home though someone suddenly jumped out and got on top of her.
“You’re gonna make me rich little missy!”
“Kya! Someone help!”
“Shut up! I’m gonna call the police and demand some money and then I’ll have a little fun with you.”
“No!!!”
“Oi!”
Jurina looked over and saw a figure standing in the distance. Since it was dark it was hard to see anything but the figure started to walk closer and closer to her and her attacker. It was at that moment the attacker pulled out a knife and pressed it against her neck.
“Don’t move or the girl gets it! She’s Japan’s idol you know?”
“Hahaha you think I care?”
Hearing this surprised Jurina hearing that someone didn’t actually care about her. The attacker himself was a little surprised but didn’t care as he started to pull Jurina back. However right as he was about to turn around, someone grabbed him and pulled him back. He dropped the knife and fell into the dark shadows where Jurina couldn’t see. She heard cries and the sound of bones breaking but thankfully couldn’t see it. However she did see all the blood coming out of the dark and slowly making its way over to her. When the screaming stopped, Jurina looked up as she heard the figure walk closer and closer to her. Then the figure walked into the moonlight and there Jurina saw what she thought was an angel of death. She had short black hair with pale white skin that was covered in blood. In a black tank top and shorts, the girl was truly a work of art. Jurina was speechless and didn’t say anything but then suddenly the sounds of gun fire shot into the distance that wasn’t too far. The girl quickly grabbed Jurina and carried her into the alley.
“What’s going on?!” Jurina said.
“Just keep your mouth shut or I’ll leave you back there!” the girl said.
Like a puppy the girl obeyed and held on as she heard to sound of her personal guards coming across the scene and were now searching for her. Jurina should’ve have told her to stop but she actually wanted to be taken away by this mysterious girl. Perhaps this was the thing that would take her away from the world of fame. After running through the streets of the city, they finally stopped at a small building. They walked inside and up the stairs and then into a small room. Inside Jurina was a bit disgusted at how gross the place was but didn’t say anything. They girl set Jurina down and then said,
“You’ll leave in the morning. For now go to sleep.”
The girl was about to leave but then Jurina grabbed onto her wrist. The girl looked at her with a scary look but Jurina didn’t mind it and said,
“I’m hungry. Got anything to eat?”
The girl sighed and walked into the kitchen. She grabbed something and then threw it at Jurina who managed to catch it. There in her hand was a cup of instant ramen. Jurina frowned since she was expecting something better but did not complain. Instead she got up and went to the kitchen where she looked for a sink and a microwave. At the same time, the girl left and in the background Jurina could hear the sound of a shower running. Jurina smiled but then her smile turned into a frown when she caught the scent of what smelled like rotting food. Jurina looked over and saw a bunch of dishes and flies surrounding the sink. The whole sight disgusted Jurina and therefore she decided it was time for a little clean up. She rolled up her sleeves and then tackled the mess that was the kitchen. When the girl came out she nearly lost it when she saw how clean everything was.
“What did you do?!”
“I cleaned it! You’re welcome.” Jurina said.
“Thanks but I didn’t need your help.” the girl said.
The girl handed Jurina and towel and told her she could use it to shower. Jurina quickly hurried to the bathroom and got into the shower. The water was nice and warm and the soap smelled very nice. She finished her shower and then when she walked back into the main room there sitting on the table was a cup of ramen. The girl told her to eat and when she finished get ready to sleep. Jurina ate the ramen and then walked over to where the girl was setting up a bed. She said Jurina would sleep on the bed while she slept on the floor. Jurina got into the bed and the girl turned off the light. A couple minutes passed before Jurina suddenly asked,
“Nee what’s your name?”
“Rena. Why do you ask?” the girl asked.
“That’s a pretty name. My name is Matsui Jurina!”
“I know now go to bed.”
There was another awkward of silence until Jurina said,
“I’m cold.”
Rena got up and handed Jurina another blanket before returning to her floor bed. Jurina felt un satisfied with the blanket so she pretended to roll off the bed and onto Rena.
“What are you doing?” Rena asked.
“I’m still cold. Why don’t you just share the bed with me?”
“Alright.”
Rena and Jurina got into the bed and the two settled themselves and then prepared for sleep. This was the first time in a long time since Jurina had slept in the same bed with another person. She would often sleep alone or with a pillow so the feeling felt so nice. Jurina couldn’t contain herself and eventually wrapped her arms around Rena’s waist. She cuddled in closely and felt the warmth of Rena’s body. She fell asleep soon after enjoying the comfort of another person. The next morning Jurina woke up and found Rena gone. She got up and walked into the other room and there already dressed and ready to go was Rena. Rena walked over and handed Jurina change of clothes. Then she said,
“We’re leaving.”
The two arrived at the studio but when they did, there were ton of police officers and guards all aiming their guns towards Rena. Jurina convinced them to stop and say she was her new personal body guard. Rena herself was a little surprised but decided to go along with it if it meant she didn’t get a bullet to the head. From that moment on, Rena was now Jurina’s personal body guard. As her body guard Rena had to follow Jurina everywhere she went. She had to watch her constantly and even in the most private of spots she had to follow her. Then eventually Jurina’s boss told her she could take a break so Jurina decided to take Rena out to a café where they could hang out. At the café Jurina and Rena took their seats and then ordered some cake. While they were waiting, Jurina started to talk about some things.
“You know when I was little, I used to come here a lot with my mother. We would always get cake and cocoa and eat some together. I loved coming her a lot with my mom. Nowadays I rarely see her because of my schedule. I’m always so busy and it gets really tiring.”
“Well you should then spend more time with your mother while she’s still with you. You never know when she’ll leave.”
Hearing this made Jurina realize how important her mother was. It also made her realize how much she hated being famous.
“It’s not fair you know. Being so famous but there’s no fun in it. I can’t be myself I have to be the one people love. The one people see as Jurina the idol not Jurina the kid. It isn’t fair.”
“Well this is something you brought upon yourself. If you didn’t want it then you shouldn’t have signed up for it.”
Jurina was silent and then the cake came along with the drinks. The two started to eat and then when they finished, Jurina stood up and said,
“Well tell me you’re older than me. What was your childhood like?”
Rena stared at Jurina with a blank expression before saying.
“Hell.”
“Eh?”
“It wasn’t very nice for me either. I was abandoned when I was young so I was forced to live alone and fight for myself. That’s why I say you should treasure your mother while she’s still here with you.”
Jurina stared at Rena for a long time and then said,
“Do you miss it? Do you miss having a childhood? Don’t you wish you could go back to the old days and be a kid again?”
“Not really. Not if I have to relive that living nightmare.”
The two were quiet before Jurina got up and said,
“We’re going.”
The two walked into the street where they were flooded by paparazzi and fans all asking for Jurina’s autograph. Jurina put on her fake smile and signed people’s things and then she made Rena take her away. She sighed with disappointment and told Rena to take her home. Rena said nothing and started to drive Jurina home but instead she took Jurina to a toy store. She led Jurina inside where there were a bunch of kids playing with all the toys. Jurina was about to say something but then Rena handed her a toy sword and said,
“Prepare for battle!”
“Eh?!”
Rena swung her sword and smacked Jurina in the butt.
“Hey!”
Jurina fought back and the next thing she knew she was in an epic sword battle with Rena. The two moved around and fought each other. As they fought they walked over many obstacles and at one point, Jurina stepped on a lego and fell over on top of Rena. The two fell into a ball pit where they wrestled their way out. Then they rolled into a pile of stuffed animals and finally stopped there. While resting Rena pulled out a stuffed cat and in a funny voice said,
“Hello Jurina~”
Jurina grabbed a stuffed dog and said,
“Hello Rena~”
“Prepare for more battle!”
“Eh?”
Rena slammed her cat into Jurina’s dog and the two started fighting with the stuffed animals. Jurina was laughing and giggling and having all kinds of fun. In that moment she truly felt like a kid. Eventually closing time came and the girls had to leave. However Jurina said she had lots of fun and wished she could do it again sometime. Rena leaned in and said,
“You may be famous and mature in front of everyone but remember you are still a kid.”
“I know… But still it’s not fair that I’m forced to live the life of an adult.”
“Well being an adult is who you are and even though you are like that, you’ll always be a little one.”
“I wish I could be a kid again.”
“You are a kid baka just the wrong kind.”
The two laughed and then Rena said,
“But hey remember, everyone becomes and adult because-“
“Because it is part of growing up.”
