Hello again! It’s been about a week since I posted chapter 2… At first I was determined to update the fic every 3 days, but just last week I’ve started my final exams, and because I have to study, I haven’t been able to keep writing the next chapters. Though I still have exams to present until next Monday, they are the “easy ones”, so that means I don’t have to spend the whole day studying, which is why I’m finally able to start writing chapter 3 today. Excuse my grammar, I've just finished writing this a few minutes ago, and I didn't bother rereading to check if I had written something wrong or anything.

Chapter 3

*PD*


As time went by, I just wanted to get to know you even more; I’d never felt that way before for anybody, man, you had surely changed me.


*Flashback*


About two weeks had passed since I accompanied Atsuko-san (her threat was effective, since that day, I was able to call her by her name), after that, we’d both been super busy, leaving us barely any free time to meet at the café, maybe 2 or 3 times since that day. Ah, how I longed for Christmas holidays to arrive sooner!! I didn’t know why, but I felt like I had to see her or I’d just go crazy, “what’s happening with me?”  I constantly thought.



One night, while I was having dinner at home, I received a mail :
“Yo Midget! Are you still alive? You’ve been kinda lost this past few weeks, I was starting to think you've been kidnapped or something like that…”



“Ugh, it’s that crazy girl again, Oshima Yuko”  I thought, getting uncomfortable



“Don’t worry, I’ve just been a little busy with school” I replied, because I didn’t want to be rude and ignore her.


“Oh, so you weren’t kidnapped after all…. Well, it’s good to know you’re ok; by the way, we should meet, it’s been quite a while since we went on a date” she finished her text with a winking smiley.



“What the hell is wrong with her?  We’ve never been on a date…” I thought, a little annoyed by her previous comment.




*Something you should know…*



First of all, let me tell you a few things about her; after this, you might understand why she annoys me so much, though it’s not like I hate her, or anything.



Oshima Yuko; she’s the daughter of one of the richest men in the US (and probably the whole world); her father also happens to be my father’s best friend as well as his business associate, which is why  I’ve known him as Uncle Oshima since I was a little boy. Our fathers have known each other since they both started their respective enterprises back in Japan. When my father decided to transfer his business to the US, he told Uncle Oshima about it, and he agreed. Even though he had just gotten married a few months ago and now his wife was pregnant with Yuko, besides he didn’t even speak proper English, he didn’t hesitate on accepting my father’s offer, which was kind of expected, since he’s known for being the random and impulsive kind of man.



But getting back to Yuko, she’s about 3 years older than me, which is why she’s always been kind of a big sister to me (or at least that’s how I’ve always thought of her). Our parents used to joke about arranging a marriage between us, but I think Yuko was the one who actually took it seriously. Until this day, she sometimes brings out the topic, even after I’ve told her numerous times she’s like a sister to me, and only that; yes, I love her, but not in a romantic way. That’s one of the reasons I now find her a little annoying, being as insistent as ever.



But anyways, her being an only daughter hasn’t helped that much either; Uncle Oshima has spoiled her before she was even born. He bought one of the best properties in the area, and also baby stuff from the best and most exclusive brands you could think of. When she was born, as my father has told me, she had an exclusive room for herself, and even a maid! Luckily, Aunt Oshima has always had enough common sense to know when it’s been too much; though that hasn’t been useful, since Uncle Oshima has always given “his Princess” everything she asks for, hence Yuko’s brat-like personality, never accepting a “no” for an answer, even when sometimes it’s just impossible saying “yes”.



Now, at her almost 24 years of age, she still sometimes acts as a child, until she’s given what she wants. This is why she keeps insisting with the arranged marriage thing, even though she’s been told infinite times it was just a joke. She says her insistence is due to the fact that she loves me, but knowing her, as soon as she gets what she wants, she gets bored and asks for something else; which is why I don’t actually think she’s really in love with me. “Maybe she just wants to protect me?” I sometimes reflect.



Ah, before I forget, she calls me Midget (which is the reason why I don’t like people calling me that), though she’s not exactly what I would call a “giant”, she’s barely an inch or two taller than me… Pretty much all of my traumas and complexes have been caused by her; she used to be (and still kinda is) a hyperactive kind of girl.





*Back to the flashback*



“Yuko, I’ve told you countless times to stop pretending we’re dating… 'cause we’re not.” I send it, hoping she’d stop this virtual harassment I’ve never quite gotten used to. I mean, I can deal with her clinging on me every now and then, but texting me out of the blue just to tell me she loves me still creeps the hell out of me....



“Mou, Kai-chan, don’t say that, I’ve already told you that I love you, I want to be with you forever” a sad smiley following the statement.



 “Yeah, and I’ve also told you before that you might just be confused, you should try dating one of the many guys who have previously declared their love to you, some of them in the most romantic and original ways I’ve ever seen…”



“But I don’t want them, I WANT YOU” she replied without delay, “Here she goes again…” I just say reluctantly inside my head.



“Yuko, please stop it, understand me when I tell you that you’ll always be like a sister to me, I love you dearly, but not in the way you long me to…” I finally reply.



“Mou, you’re such a gentleman, even when you’re rejecting a girl… the person who happens to steal your heart will be a very lucky one” she finally said.



After that, I was sure she’d leave me alone for a while, but I was wrong; things were going to get a lot worse than before...




*The next day*


“Hi, Kai-kun. It’s been a while” I received a text from the girl who had been on my mind for a while now.



“Oh, hello Atsuko-san, long time no see…” I included a smiley with my reply.



“I know! Somehow I’m on the mood for one of Boss’s recommendations, and I was wondering if you happened to be free… Care to join me?” I sensed some shyness in her words.



“Ah, what a pity, I’m super busy today…” I jokingly replied, I was in the mood for some teasing.



“Oh, really? Well, then I’ll ask my classmate, Robert is he’s free…” she wrote



“Who’s this ‘Robert’ guy? I’ve never heard of him, could it be…” my chest ached for a moment.



“Who’s Robert?” I sent.



“Like I told you, he’s my classmate from Columbia… I think he likes me, and I kind of like him too” she answered.



“Oh…” I suddenly became a little sad.



After a few minutes, she finally sent another text....



“Omg Kai-kun I was just kidding! Yes, he is my classmate, but I don’t even talk to him… Gotcha!” a lot of smileys were included in the message.



“God, Atsuko! You scared me...” I sent, not noticing I forgot the ‘-san’ after her name.



“Why would me liking someone scare you?” she questioned.



“Eh, did I say ‘scare’?! I meant ‘surprised’…” I replied, blushing a little because of my mistake.



“Yeah well, you also forgot the ‘-san’ after my name…” she replied, was she teasing me?



“I-I did?! I’m tremendously sorry! Forgive me for being so irrespectful” I sent her, totally embarrassed.



“Haha, don’t worry, it’s no biggie Kai-kun, or should I start calling you just ‘Kai’?” she teased.



“Mou, Atsuko-san, I already said I’m sorry… please continue calling me ‘Kai-kun’, it’s kind of embarrassing to be called Kai by someone who isn’t my family…”



“Does that mean that you’re embarrassed of being my friend?” she sent followed by a sad smiley, though I wonder if that still counts as a smiley....



“N-not at all!! That’s not what I meant… It’s just, until this day, nobody except for my parents and Yuko call me ‘Kai’, everyone else calls me by my last name....” again, I didn’t reread what I had just written…



“Kai-kun, who’s Yuko?” CRAP. I had once again screwed up, “she’s totally going to misunderstand this…”



“S-she’s my sister…” I wasn’t completely lying, I just didn’t mention the whole “sibling relationship” detail about us…



“Oh, ok. For a moment I thought you had a girlfriend or something, but that’s very unlikely haha…” again teasing me? "Doesn’t she get tired of messing with me?"



“Hey… what’s that supposed to mean?” I added a pouting smiley.



“Well, to be honest, you don’t look like the type of guy who has THAT much experience in love matters…”



“Are you serious? Just look at me, I’m practically a Don Juan, and without even trying” I wrote, followed by a winking smiley.



“Yeah, Kai-kun, and I’m actually a supermodel” she included a smiley sticking its tongue out.



“Just now, that kinda hurt my feelings, you know… I’ll go cry in a corner if you need me” I sent just being dramatic.



“Oh god, aren’t you a drama queen? Haha, I’ll give you a paperbag next time we see each other” she just loved making fun of me.



“Yes, please… Speaking of which, didn’t you say you wanted to go out? I was actually kidding, I’m totally free today.”



“Yeah, I knew as soon as I read your text, if you are careless enough to skip classes just to go to Columbia with me, I figured you wouldn’t be THAT busy in school…”



“So that’s why you mentioned that Robert guy, eh?” I know understood.



“Yes, it’s just so much fun teasing you!” I realized she might actually be a mean person, lol.



“Well, since that matter’s settled, do you still want to go to the café?”



“Sure, only if it’s your treat, and I’m serious… you see, I already spent this month’s allowance… I have to wait until next week for my parents to send me next month’s.”



“But of course, that’s the least I could do” I replied confidently.



“Very well then, see you there at 4:30pm” she finally sent.



I rushed to get some clean clothes since it was already 3:45pm, and I still had to take a shower; though I wonder if she’d be able to be ready before the deadline she herself had set… I couldn’t help but laugh a little, that girl is just amusing. “Aren’t you sure there’s more than just ‘amusing’? She’s practically your dream girl” it was as if my brain and I were having a conversation about Atsuko-san…



Yes, she’s everything I’ve ever dreamed for in a girl, but I just couldn’t risk ruining it all by confessing my feelings to her, I preferred being just friends instead of losing her because of an impulse. Besides, I was pretty sure she just saw me as a really good friend, and that wasn’t going to change anytime soon…



While thinking that I took a shower, got dressed and after half an hour I was ready for our “date”; somehow thinking of that word made me blush… “Stop it Kai, you’re just friends” I told myself. “A friendly date, that’s it” I said out loud.



While walking out of the building in which my penthouse was located, I failed to notice a certain someone had followed me as soon as she saw me walking down the street. By the time I reached the café, I saw Atsuko-san coming from inside the park, so I waited until she crossed the street to enter alongside her.



Boss saw the both of us, and smiled. “Go upstairs, and I’ll get you today’s special, you lovebirds”, I couldn’t help getting a little shy after his comment, but Atsuko-san didn’t seem to care as much as I did.



After us, a small girl entered the café, it was her first time there, so no wonder she got stunned at the sudden psychedelic view of its interior. She then saw us going upstairs, and followed the path we had taken. She realized it would be suspicious not buying anything, so she ordered a Frappucino and then went upstairs.



There, she saw Atsuko-san and I sitting on our usual spot, so she sat two tables away from us, to be able to listen to our conversation; it didn’t even cross my mind that the girl that had just arrived was someone I knew, since I hadn’t brought any of my friends here before.



Meanwhile Atsuko-san and I talked as we usually did every time we went there, completely ignoring the world around us, she then suddenly started teasing me, something completely normal for me now… Then she made a comment which made me blush, and while she was laughing, the girl that arrived after we did stood from her seat and went to where we were sitting.



“May I help-….” I couldn’t finish the sentence; what was SHE doing there?! “Oh, god, why do you hate me so much?” I thought.



“Hello Kai” the small figure said, her voice sounded a little mad, for some reason.



“Do you know her, Kai-kun?” Atsuko-san questioned me: I didn’t want to answer, but…



“Y-yes, she’s Yuko…” I was finally able to say.

AAAAAAND this is where chapter 3 ends, I decided to leave a cliffhanger, just to keep you interested. I started writing with no inspiration whatsoever, and before I realized it, my Word Document had reached 20 pages (12 of which correspond to the previous 2 chapters), somehow I wrote a long chapter, yay. Well, this is a reward for being patient, a new (and long) chapter two days before the date I promised. I don’t know when I’m going to update again, maybe until weekend, if I don’t have anything else to do, but most probably next Tuesday.

Yeah, this "virtual harrassment" thing was a product of my randomness lol  Does it really have to be kojiharu, isn't that too mainstream?    Though, I'll think about it  btw... Hello my readers, I decided to post a teaser for next chapter, you know, to see if you can handle not knowing what's gonna come after this. As always, you know I really appreciate your comments, complaints and suggestions; speak your mind about this nonsense!! Now please, enjoy. 

Chapter 4 (TEASER)

“Hello Kai” the small figure said, her voice sounded a little mad, for some reason.


“Do you know her, Kai-kun?” Atsuko-san questioned me: I didn’t want to answer, but I had to…


“Y-yes, she’s Yuko…” I was finally able to say.

“Oh, how rude of me, nice to meet you, I’m Oshima Yuko.” She said, still with an annoyed tone in her voice.



“I’m Maeda Atsuko, nice to meet you… wait, you’re Yuko? Kai’s sister? But, you don’t have the same last name….” Atsuko-san reasoned, confused.



“Pfft, he told you that?! We’re not blood-related, and just so you know, I’m not his sister, I’m his fiancée” she said, proudly.



“Oh God, oh God, oh God, oh God… “, I thought, while having a nervous breakdown. “Atsuko-san is totally gonna misunderstand this, she’s gonna hate me, she won’t want to keep being friends with me…” all of that crossed my mind in a split second.



“F-fiancée?! Kai-kun, you’re getting married?! With your sister?!” she raised her voice, completely shocked.



“She’s totally an airhead…” I thought.



“Yo, Maid-san (Yuko didn’t really pay attention to Atsuko when she introduced herself, hence she couldn’t remember her last name correctly, resulting in this weird nickname), I told you, WE’RE NOT SIBLINGS. There’s nothing wrong with us being engaged, besides, we’re perfect for each other” she again said, arrogantly.



“YUKO, STOP IT! I’ve told you countless times I don’t love you! Don’t go around telling people you’ve just met we’re engaged, because it’s not true! That’ll never happen!” I was finally able to say, a little louder than I would’ve wanted…



“But I love you, Kai!! Please don’t break-up with me” Yuko said, her eyes getting teary.



“Yuko, get it once and for all, you’ll always be LIKE a sister to me, I’ll never see you as anything else” I was fed up with her attitude, why couldn’t she understand?!



“KAI I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! WHY CAN’T YOU LOVE ME BACK?! DID YOU HEAR THAT? THAT WAS MY HEART BREAKING INTO PIECES INSIDE MY CHEST!!” she kept shouting at me, now crying like a kid whose candy had been taken. “Please, shut up! I can’t take it anymore, you drive me nuts!” I was at my limit, my head hurt like never before.



Meanwhile Atsuko-san was just sitting there staring at us. Wait a minute, was she enjoying this? “Is that a smirk? Should I bring her some popcorn?” I sarcastically thought.



“A- Atsuko-san, are you ok?” I asked.



“Perfectly fine Kai-kun, you two are just so amusing I couldn’t help watching you argue” she said, with an amused tone.



“What? Did she just say ‘amusing’?” I couldn’t believe what I had just heard.



“So you don’t care about us fighting at all, you’re just enjoying this whole matter while I get the worst headache ever?! You’re such a sadist!” I made an indescribable face while saying this to her. She started laughing.



Somehow seeing her smile made me forget about everything, even the petite girl who still kept yelling at me; I just loved watching Atsuko-san’s smile, it made me want to smile as well. Before I realized it, I started laughing with her, which made Yuko stop yelling her nonsense. She stared at us, confused.



“Kai, what the hell is wrong with you? Why did you suddenly start laughing like a crazy person?”



“I don’t even know it myself, just felt like it…” I said as my stomach started to ache.



“You two are a pair of weirdos, I’m leaving!” and just like that, she made her way downstairs.



After a while, Atsuko-san and I finally were able to stop laughing; suddenly an awkward silence filled the room.



“So… that was Yuko” she finally said.



“Y-Yeah, a-about her, w-we’re not actually siblings, b-but we grew up together, so s-she’s always been like a big sister t-to me” I stuttered.



“And why didn’t you tell me?” she inquired.



“B-because I was afraid you might m-misunderstand our relationship, l-like she does…” why the hell did I keep stuttering?!



“I see… but now, thanks to this I no longer trust you, Kai-kun, after all, you lied to me” she said, with a serious face.



“W-w-What?! B-but Atsuko-san y-you were laughing j-just a couple of minutes ago!” I just couldn’t comprehend this. “What the hell?!” I thought.



“I know, it was fun, but that doesn’t change the fact that you lied to me…”
