Moeno announced her graduation at Team A's Kawaei Rina birthday show.

No further details at the moment.

Moeno is a 5th generation member so she's been with the group since late 2007.
The 5th gen is one the biggest 'old' generations with eight members still active in various groups.

At the same show, she announced her last day to be April 28th, her 5th anniversary as an AKB member.

Nikkan Sports mentioned her being "the runner-up in the Senbatsu Janken Tournament held back in September of last year." Guess her losing to Paruru had an effect?

It's sad to see Moeno go. She was a good member but got stuck in the middle tier which is unfortunately getting pushed back due to management pushing "new generation" girls (and also sister group members). I kinda wonder if she hadn't managed to achieve such a good position for the janken single whether she would have quit sooner, especially as she is leaving just after the handshake events for that single.

Well, I wish her all the best for the future and sincerely hope that a lot more middle tier members don't follow suit soon.

I fully agree with this. As much as I don't wish for Moeno and other middle tier members to leave, it's also unfair to expect them to stay when the management is basically neglecting them. They know that they've reached their peak in AKB48 and will probably never get a breakthrough chance. It's the same even with more popular members like Kasai and Tomochin who have also announced their graduations.

Sometimes, I feel that this whole generation change thing is happening so quickly that it's really shaking up AKB48's foundation. At the rate the older gen members are leaving, can the newer gens fill up the gaps and bring about something more to the group fast and well enough?

I think for them they can do it as long as the members r up for it.IMHO someone can always shine

Gonna have to take this back; I got confused with her word choice. She for sure will still be a part of AKB until April 28th, since she wants to reach that 5th anniversary. However, her actual graduation date is still undetermined.

Sucks. I'm not terribly surprised, though. It felt like Moeno was shooting to the top, then fell off the rocket somewhere along the way. One of the most abruptly ended pushes ever. Bummer, this girl really charmed me back in the day when she started appearing on AKB48+10, to all her appearances on Shukan AKB with Gekikara club, to seeing her in person in 2010.. great girl. She has a very high fashion, picture, etc. sense, she'll be able to turn that into a career just fine. Maybe she'll be the next Nozofizu!

Sad to see her go but she'll be just fine.

I'm calling it!

Anyway, I never really got into her; she felt really plain to me. However, it's always sad to see members go, especially older generation ones.
I kind of expected her to graduate this year, since, like you guys said, she was stuck in the middle(which is the worst place IMO).

Regarding the date for my graduation, since I definitely want to attend the handshake events for ‘Eien Pressure’, and my 5th anniversary since debut will be on April 28th, it will be after I finish those.

まだいつになるかは確定していませんが(5月かもしれないし6月かもしれない…)、AKB48として活動できる間
まだまだ色んなものを吸収し、成長し続けたい
そして、メンバーとの時間も、ファンの皆さんとの時間も大切にしていきたいです。

It has not yet been decided exactly when (could be May, could be June…), but while I can stay as a member of AKB48, I want to continue learning many things, and grow myself up. I also want to cherish the time with the members, as well as the time with you fans.

^ Truly she had it on her mind but it is rather disappointing that she wanted to graduate but in the end, as fans we wish her the best in whatever she does.

what is wrong with the AKB family nowadays?! More mass graduation announcements and it's not even the middle of the year(more will graduate than the last year). I mean,gimme a break,more fans will be having a hard time to adjust losing their oshimens for many years and accepting those new ones.Really depressing.
