Chapter 2 – Majisuka!? Minami kept racing through the streets toward her destination. As she ran, she kept trying to call Yuko back, however there was no answer.
Why isn’t she answering! If this is a prank I swear I’ll.... Minami was inwardly cursing, which she rarely did. She always got teased and pranked by members, and in all honesty, she doesn’t mind it. It was just their way of showing affection towards her and she appreciated that. So as Minami was running, she was actually praying that this was another practical joke. That once she’d get there, Yuko, and maybe even the others would ambush her or something. Sure she’d be mad at such a worrying joke, but at least it’d mean nothing was wrong. She couldn’t think about the alternative.
The leader had to stop for a second to quickly catch her breath. The sun had nearly disappeared from the sky, and judging by her surrounds, she was close to the alley Yuko had described. The girl pulled out her phone again, but this time she dialled not Yuko’s phone, but the police. She didn’t want to lose time as she called, so she slowly began to run again as she talked. Minami explained as best she could her worries. She had nothing solid to offer the police, but she told them something was wrong and described the place they should head. Insisting they come. The leader couldn’t help but feel something was wrong, and figured she had nothing to lose by calling the police. Worse comes to worse, nothing is wrong and the police waste a trip, and Minami was willing to risk that.
The girl quickened her speed after the phone call and finally reached the alley into which she turned into. It was much darker in there since the remaining light in the sky barley reached the somewhat narrow space shielded by large buildings.
“Let go you jerk!” Minami looked further down and noticed to figures struggling. She realized it was Yuko trying to pull herself free from a man who had her caught by her wrist. The man looked like he was in his late twenties and was fairly built and tall for his age. After noticing what was happening, she quickly ran over and shouted, “Hey! What are you doing!?”
Yuko and the man both whirled at Minami’s voice and approach. The little leader stopped right in front of the two. “Sir, can you please let her go. What you’re doing is not right and you’re hurting her. Please let her go and leave us.” The leader wanted to be civilized first. She didn’t know what state this man was in, and hoped she could try reasoning with him first without any unnecessary trouble.
The man in question kept staring down at Minami and then his eyes widened in recognition. “Ah, you are Takamina. Amazing. AKB’s general manager is here too. You should come along as well.” His speech was slightly slurred and he seemed to lose his balance a bit. Is he drunk?
“Minami what are you doing! Get out of here!” Yuko shouted as she kept struggling in the man’s grasp. “Get out of here and call for help! Hurry!”
Minami was about to say she did, but stopped herself when she noticed across the corner of the alley, a car was parked. It seemed that’s where the man was trying to drag Yuko.
If I mention the police are coming, there’s a chance he may rush and try to leave with Yuko...We have to stall him until the police get here. “I’m not leaving,” she said calmly. “I’m going to ask you again. Please let her go. This is stupid; please think about what you’re doing.”
The man glared at Minami and seemed to lose interest in a split second. “Forget it; I ain’t wasting my time with you. Yuko’s the only one for me!”
Oh great, he’s apparently an obsessive drunk fan. He began to drag Yuko to the direction of his car as Yuko kept resisting. Minami was beginning to panic, clearly needing more time till the police arrived. The leader took a deep breath, and then ran with all her strength and tackled the guy down, sending all three of them to the floor. The two members didn’t need to communicate out loud that they had to run so they both tried to recover quickly from the floor.
However, as they stood and were about to flee, the guy caught Yuko by the ankle and dragged her down again, her body making strong contact with the ground. Minami tried to reach for Yuko but the man recovered first and grabbed Minami by the collar and slammed her into the wall. Her back painfully thudding against the surface. She tried to kick him away and managed to get his knee, which caused him to lose balance for a second, but he quickly recovered and sent his first flying into Minami’s stomach.
Minami doubled over as he let her go and coughed, trying to catch her breath. She’d never been punched before and was thankful for it, because it was not a fun feeling. Holding her stomach, she looked up and saw he was about to kick her, but then Yuko came at him from behind, tackling him from the back of his legs where he easily lost balance and fell, and she held her ground.
Yuko grabbed Minami by the arm and lifted her up, and then the two began to run...At least Minami did. Yuko seemed to be limping so the leader slowed down. “What’s wrong!?”
She gave the shorter girl a sheepish grin. “Sprained my ankle when he grabbed it and brought me down.”
“Damn it.” The leader silently cursed. They both turned their heads when they noticed the guy getting back up.
“Listen Minami, you have to go! I’ll be fine. Leave and just call for help.” Yuko smiled and tried to reassure the leader, but the other girl just glared.
“No way! I’m not leaving you with him. If he gets you in that car there’s no telling when the police will track him down or what he might do!”
Yuko was also beginning to get angry. “Then it doesn’t make sense that both of us get caught! Just go, now isn’t the time to be stubborn!”
Yuko and Minami then pushed one another back when they noticed a figure charging at them. Yuko and Minami were on opposite sides of the wall as their assailant hit nothing in the middle since they dodged, and then angrily turned back at them.
“Minami, go! I’m older than you so listen to me!” Yuko once again yelled.
“No!” & since when did age ever matter between us. If you want to pull rank, then I’m your sempai and I say I’m staying.”
While the two bickered, the man was confused on whom to even go after, so he once again made his way to Yuko who dodged as best she could and went to Minami’s side.
“You’re impossible you know that!” Yuko huffed, anger subsiding. “You won’t leave will you” Yuko said, not really asking it in a question format.
“No way. We’re sticking through this together. Listen, I called the cops earlier, we just have to hold out till they get here” the girl whispered that part so the man wouldn’t hear. “With your ankle, we can’t make a run for it, but you can still move around okay, right?” the younger girl worriedly asked.
“Who do you think you’re talking to? If time is what we need, we’ll get it.” The older girl said confidently.
The two quickly exchanged glances and faced their assailant again, who was slowly staggering towards them.
“You know, I don’t think I’ve ever been in a real fight” Minami said, trying to get their minds off things.
“Me neither, but hey. Just channel your character from our Majisuka drama!” Yuko advised.
Minami gave the older girl a lopsided grin and said, “You mean the one that had the crap beat out of her and then died.”
Yuko actually let out a little laugh, “sorry, that you definitely want to avoid. She was a good character though, knew how to fight and stick up for her friends. You are similar, doing something stupid to help a friend even if it puts you in danger” The ace accused with no malice in her voice.
Now it was Minami’s turn to laugh. “Like you’re any better. Okay then, lets both do our best to channel our characters...but this time, I think the both of them deserve a happy ending. What do you say?”
Both girls were still not breaking eye contact with the man approaching, but the little conversation between them was helping to slightly calm their nerves.
“Yah, I think they both do deserve that. And after they survive this, I think they should go out to get a big bowl of katsudon and a dish that has a lot of cheese!”
“Okay. It’s a promise then” both smirked as their attacker charged.
