AKB48 new Team 4

Announced at Tokyo Dome Day 3 on 24th August 2013, there will be a new Team 4 and the Captain will be Minegishi Minami.

Me too, but now I realized that AKS, wanna same  "happy ending" for Miichan , as the other 1st gen.     

6-7 month after scandal, she promoted back as captain.  Well done AKS. Keep doing bullshit.

2009/09/xx    9th generation announced
2010/12/09    At the 5th anniversary theatre performance all 9th generation members promoted to full members
2011/07/07    Team 4 formed at Minogashita 2, after the "Boku no Taiyou" performance with all 9th gen members + Nakamata Shiori and Ichikawa Miori.
2011/07/23    During Seibu Dome Day 2, Oba Mina made captain, Abe Maria and Iriyama Anna promoted from KKS to Team 4.
2011/09/02    Mori Anna graduates (official due to back pain, but she did have a scandal). Captain Oba Mina suspended due to a scandal.
2011/10/10    Team 4 1st Stage "Boku no Taiyou" shonichi. Shimada Haruka made temporary captain.
2012/01/04    Oba Mina returns from suspension, resumes as Captain.
2012/03/04    At Day 2 of Saitama Super Arena concerts, Kato Rena, Kawaei Rina, Iwata Karen, Tano Yuka, Takahashi Juri promoted to Team 4, making it 16 members.
2012/08/24    At Tokyo Dome Day 1, Team 4 was disbanded
2012/10/17    Team 4 final concert in Ibaraki as part of the 47 prefectures tour
2012/10/25    Team 4 1st Stage "Boku no Taiyou" senshuuraku
2013/01/27    Team 4's first original song "Hashire! Penguin" reaches number 1 at Request Hour
2013/05/19    Team 4 perform "Boku no Taiyou" as part of the Omoidaseru revival concert series

I never keep track of the KKS at all and I finally figured out all the old Team 4, now this?

I'm pretty happy from this. These past few KKS have a lot of interesting girls. Teaming them = more exposure.
Getting no.1 in Best 100 literally screamed revival. And just after the new stage announcements, makes great timing.

Plus. Everybody knows its real reason is to promote songstress Okada Nana to official member status.
(Aki-p: Okada is still a KKS and we've done too many promotions recently... Give her a team then dammit!!!)

From what I hear so far, the fans of the old Team 4 are absolutely hating the new one  Sacrilege! all that stuff 

These past few KKS have a lot of interesting girls. Teaming them = more exposure.

Personally, I always disliked the old Team 4. Teaming them up meant that they didn't bond with anyone else, which is still something that hurts current AKB48 as a whole. Perfect example would be the AKBingo rhythm episode where they only gave turns to each other.

So yeah, it may be good for them now, but I fear it'll hurt them and AKB48 in the long term.


And then there's my biggest issue with all this, Miichan as captain. It just blows my mind they went for this.
Then again, old Team 4 also had a scandalous captain so I guess they're wanna keep that tradition alive.

Yeah. Moving in a Team 4'er or two would've been a better choice in my opinion, like getting Shimada to Cap again. Keeping the Team 4 spirit and a positive example for the new Team 4. But changing up members too much ain't a good thing either. Making a good balance of change and tradition to please everyone ain't easy.

16 AKB48 Kenkyuusei promoted to new Team 4 + Minegishi Minami becomes team captain



It's been announced that 16 AKB48 Kenkyuusei have been promoted to become official members of the group and will be forming a new Team 4.



This announcement was made on August 24th during 'AKB48 2013 Manatsu no Dome Tour ~Mada Mada, Yaranakyaikenai Koto ga Aru~' at Tokyo Dome. The old Team 4 dissolved after their performance back in October of 2012. With this announcement, AKB48 is back to 4 teams.



It was also announced that Minegishi Minami will be the team captain of Team 4. After hearing these announcements, Iwatate Saho expressed, "I didn't think that we would all get promoted at once. I have work even harder than before." Nishino Miki added, "I didn't think I would get promoted. The Kenkyuusei all worked hard together, so we all wished to get promoted together. I am very happy that our dream came true."



Furthermore, it was revealed that AKB48 assistant theater manager Yuasa Hiroshi has once again become AKB48 theater manager.

Yeah, that's what i was thinking too.  It would have helped giving them an identity of their own a bit more.

Then again, it just ain't AKB48 is there isn't tons of controversy, hype and butt-hurt involved nowadays 
Aki-P definitely got the discussions and attention going, again.
Quite amazing how he manages to keep doing so for such a long period of time.
