Short Stories - KojiYuu Week (Selfie)
« on: August 31, 2013, 07:17:33 PM »
A/N: A friend gave me a photo (below) and challenged told me to come up with a story for it. So here we are! A lot of assumptions were made, seeing as I didn't see the actual concert and all but that's how imaginations works anyway so throw away some common sense before reading!

Photos not mine, found on twitter

For want of an Injection

“Wow… Yuko’s really giving it her all out there as usual…” Minami remarked as she stared at the dancing figure shown on the screen, once again impressed by Yuko’s professionalism. Had it really been just two days ago where Sayaka’s graduation ceremony was held and Yuko was in a mess?

“She seems to be having fun…”

Beside her, Kojima Haruna frowned and her eyes narrowed at the sight of the two currently on stage.

“Otsukaresama!” Smiling, Yuko high-fived her partner for the performance and hurried off in search of her beloved cat.

As if she had some sort of sixth sense on Haruna’s location, Yuko almost immediately found Haruna hanging around the monitors they had backstage watching Sasshi perform.

“Nyaaaaaaaaaaaan-Nyaaaaaaaaaaaan!!!!!”

Still high off the adrenaline rush of her performance, Yuko didn’t hesitate in pouncing on the back of the unsuspecting Haruna and she clung onto her tightly while nuzzling into her neck.

“You look so cute today! Not that you don’t look cute every day – you do, but today you look especially cute!” Yuko praised, hands roaming all about, in total bliss as she was having some much needed skin-ship. “Can you give me a love injection to charge me up too?”

“Nyan-Nyan?” Yuko said questioningly when Haruna didn’t reply.

Worried, she got off Haruna and scanned her girlfriend from head to toe. “Are you okay? Do you need to rest for a bit?”

“I’m fine…” Haruna finally spoke, smiling at Yuko a little.

“Maybe a chu will make you feel better~” Yuko puckered her lips and leant forward, only to be stopped by Haruna’s palm.

“Yuu-chan!”

Back her normal tsun-tsun mode~ Yuko didn’t mind not being able to get that kiss; she was content as long as Haruna was okay.

“So how about that love injection huh?” Yuko grabbed onto Haruna’s arm, determined to make use of the opportunity to get as much skin-ship as possible. “I’m in need of energy after my tiring solo sensei~”

Something in Haruna’s eyes flashed at that statement.

“You can get your love injection somewhere else!”

SMACK!

Haruna stomped away.

“N-Nyan-Nyan…” A dumbfounded Yuko was left clutching her sore cheek.

What did I do?

Once she had managed to gather herself back together, Yuko wisely decided to give Haruna some time to cool down before she went to look for her.

“Why so down Yuko?”

“Takamina!” Yuko whirled around to face her fellow midget. She pouted. “Nyan-Nyan wouldn’t give me a love injection! Even after I asked her to!”

“Hehe…” Minami folded her arms and smiled smugly at Yuko. “Nyan-Nyan gave ME a love injection to charge me up because I was tired!”

“WHAT?! You’re lying!” Yuko was flabbergasted. “Why would Nyan-Nyan give you a love injection and not me?”

“I’m not lying!” Minami insisted. “You can ask anyone around, they all saw!”

“Shinobu-san!” Yuko called out to the lady passing by. “Did Nyan-Nyan really give Takamina a love injection?”

“Yeah,” Shinobu was puzzled at Yuko’s question. “They even took a picture.”

“Haha! I even have a picture!” Minami was ecstatic at the rare chance to be able to rub it in Yuko’s face, something which she normally failed at. “Nyan-Nyan gave ME a love injection without me having to ASK her and she refused to give YOU one!”

“Why you shortie!” Yuko growled. She would be lying if she said she wasn’t jealous.

Why would Haruna give Minami, of all people, a love injection and not give poor Yuko one as well?

“Hey! You’re not that tall yourself! You’re only a few centimeters taller than me!”

“At least I'm taller than you!”

“You’re still short!”

“Not as short as you Takamidget!”

“Are they going to be okay?” Yamamoto Sayaka asked Watanabe Miyuki, who was standing next to her as the two of them watched the squabbling duo trade insults.

“I don’t know…” Miyuki frowned. “I spend more time with Team B members like Kojiharu-san and Yukirin-san.”

“Don’t worry, they do that all the time,” Yokoyama Yui reassured the NMB duo, flashing them a calming smile as she patted Sayanee’s shoulder. “We’re used to it.”

“The WMidgets combi,” Tomochin commented as she appeared with Paruru and handed out cups of water. “They’re always so noisy. Pay them no mind.”

“Your performance was great Yui-chan!” Paruru smiled at the Team A Captain, sparking off a discussion and flurry of compliments from each member about the individual solo performances of the others.

“Mou… Nyan-Nyan is so mean…” Yuko sulked as she trudged towards a corner, plopping down onto a seat before she sighed.

“What’s wrong Yuko-san?”

“Ah, Akicha!” Yuko smiled at the JKT concurrent beside her. “It’s nothing important really…”

“You look tired; maybe you should get Kojiharu-san to give you a love injection.” Akicha said, knowing how Yuko liked to find random excuses to hang around Haruna. “She gave me one earlier too and said that it’s supposed to charge you up and give you energy.”

Yuko stared at Akicha with her mouth open.

“Eh? What’s wrong Yuko-san?”

“N-Nyan-Nyan… she gave you a love injection too?!” Am I the only one who didn’t get one?!

“Yup, she just came up to me on her own accord,” Akicha smiled. “It was really nice of her to; I didn’t really need it since I don’t have many units anyway, but she insisted saying that I must be tired from travelling back and forth from Jakarta.”

That’s my Nyan-Nyan! Yuko thought proudly before she remembered why she was so worked up. Wait, she’s giving out love injections to everyone but not to me?

“Didn’t she give you one as well?”

“Eh? Err…” Yuko was stunned by Akicha’s sudden question but she was reluctant to let others know that she had been neglected and rejected, seeing how Minami had rubbed in it earlier. She looked around for a way to escape.

“Wow, is that Jurina over there? I gotta congratulate her on performing Mariko’s song bye!”

Yuko then dashed off before Akicha could say anything else.

“Jurina! How was performing ‘Plastic no Kuchibiru’?” Yuko slapped her teammate on the back. “Bet you must be glad to be able to perform Mariko’s song eh?”

“Ehehe…” Jurina grinned self-consciously as she scratched her cheek with a finger. “I hope I did Mari-chan’s song justice. You were great Yuko-chan! I was watching from backstage, even Nyan-Nyan and the rest were watching!”

She was watching? Yuko blushed at the revelation. That tsundere; always acting like she doesn’t care...

“The rest did great as well, everyone was very cute!” Jurina’s smile grew even wider. “Especially Nyan-Nyan, she looked soooo cute that I wanna chu her!”

Watch it, kid. Yuko’s smile became slightly forced but she controlled herself. Calm down Yuko, she’s just a kid! You don’t hit kids, even if they’re Nyan-Nyan stealers…

“Where is Nyan-Nyan anyway?” Jurina looked around, frowning. “I don’t see her around…”

“Rena-chan, over here!” Spotting the other Matsui, Yuko waved to her, signaling for Rena to join them. There’s no way you’re getting to Nyan-Nyan first Jurina!

“Rena-chan!” Jurina forgot about looking for Haruna and she pounced on the older girl, trying to kiss her. “You look very cute in your outfit Rena-chan!”

This scene seems familiar somehow… Yuko frowned before shrugging. Ah well, whatever. As long as that kissing monster stays far, far, far away from my Nyan-Nyan!

“Great performance Rena-chan,” Yuko started a conversation with her sacrifice, feeling slightly guilty as she watched the pale girl struggle to hold Jurina at an arm’s length.

“Thanks, you too Yuko-san,” Rena smiled politely, not bothered by Jurina’s continuous attempts to get closer. “I particularly liked watching you and the other dancer dancing during the song; it was like a scene from a musical or something.”

“Nee Rena-chan,” Jurina cut in, pouting slightly at being left out. “Have you seen Nyan-Nyan?”

“Kojima-san?” Rena thought for a while. “The last time that I saw her was when she gave me a love injection.”

AGAIN?!!! Yuko’s eyelid twitched. This is really unfair!

“Ehh?” Jurina exclaimed. “Lucky! I want to find Nyan-Nyan to get a love injection from her too!”

Yuko laughed internally, gloating at how Jurina didn’t manage to get a love injection from Haruna before sobering up, recalling that she herself didn’t receive one either.

“Why did Nyan-Nyan give you a love injection?”

“She said that I’m tall and too thin, it’s worrying so she gave me a love injection.” Rena blinked. “I don’t really know what was it all about too, she just came up to me and we even posed for a photo…”

PHOTO?! Yuko was officially heartbroken after hearing all these accounts. Nyan-Nyan doesn’t want me anymore…

“Yuko-san?” Rena noticed Yuko drifting away, looking utterly miserable. “Where are you going?”

“To find Nyan-Nyan?” Jurina suggested. “I’ll let them have their private time now, I can always find Nyan-Nyan later to chu her~”

“Jurina!”

“Itai! Rena-chan, you hit me too hard! My head hurts, kiss it to make it better~”

“Yuko? What happened?” Sae called out to her friend, pausing in mid-conversation with Yuki as the two of them stared at what could be described as a shell of Oshima Yuko.

“What happened to her?” Yuki was curious as to what could possibly make Yuko so depressed. “Has the graduations gotten to her?”

“No idea,” Sae went up to Yuko and tapped her on the shoulder. “What’s wrong Yuko-chan?”

“SAE-CHAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! NYAN-NYAN DOESN’T WANT ME ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!” Yuko buried her face in Sae’s jacket.

“Calm down, I’m sure it’s all just a misunderstanding.” Sae patted Yuko on the back. “Don’t forget the amount of times where you thought she was mad at you but she actually wasn’t?”

“Did Nyan-Nyan say anything?” Yuki joined Sae in consoling the sobbing squirrel.

“S-She didn’t! But she g-gave everyone love i-injections except f-for ME!”

“Ah, those…”

“See! Even you know about them!” Yuko was distraught. “I even asked her for one nicely and she slapped me…”

“Wait, this means that you made her angry then.” Sae stopped Yuko in mid-outburst. “Are you sure that you asked her nicely? Not in your usual… you know, perverted way?”

“How could you Sae-chan?” Gasping dramatically, Yuko clutched her chest. “I thought that we’re friends! How could you doubt me?”

“Hey,” Sae shrugged. “I don’t doubt Yuko the pervert squirrel.”

“Well that’s true…” Yuko muttered before wailing again. “I DID ask her nicely! I said that I was in need of energy after my tiring solo!”

“Your solo?” Yuki said suddenly. “Now I remember…”

“What is it?” Yuko looked at the reaction queen, waiting for her to shed some light on the matter.

“I saw Nyan-Nyan staring at the monitor during your solo.”

“Well, it’s to be expected since it is Yuko’s solo,” Sae remarked. “And if she’s free, Yuko always tries to hog one entire screen to herself or she’ll be standing at the side of the stage watching if Kojipa’s performing.”

“The thing is, she could probably burn through the screen with that intense stare.”

“She was angry with my performance?” Yuko was clueless. “But I didn’t do anything weird! I know that normally we perform it together, but Aki-P decided to use that song for my solo, I don’t know why though.”

“No, I think she was…” Yuki looked at Yuko in the eyes. “Jealous.”

Yuko rubbed her cheek subconsciously as she remembered the slap that she had received from Haruna earlier. “Jealous?”

“Yeah, like how…” Yuki’s voice trailed off as she felt a very familiar stare on her back.

“Yukirin, are you finally done talking with Sae-chan?”

“M-Mayu!” Eyes wide open in shock, Yuki stammered as the next gen ace came closer. “Y-You were looking for m-me?”

“I was waiting for you.”

Mayu smiled and Yuki shivered.

“Let’s go.”

Taking hold of Yuki’s hand, Mayu dragged her off; ignoring Yuko’s greeting ‘Oshiri’ sign.

“Wow.” Yuko said as she stared at the departing pair. “You gotta be careful Miyazawa Sae.”

“Yeah,” Sae stared. “Wow.”

“Anyway,” Yuko quickly refocused on the issue at hand, having been enlightened thanks to Yuki. “I need to find Nyan-Nyan, cya later Sae!”

Yuko ran off and looked all over but her supposed sixth sense failed her, she was unable to find Haruna.

“Nyan-Nyan… where did you go?” Yuko sighed. Haruna could hide really well if she wanted to.

“Oof!” The distressed squirrel accidentally bumped into someone, knocking whoever it was to the ground.

“Omigosh, Akarin!” Yuko hurriedly helped the newest member of the Senbatsu up. “I’m so sorry!”

“Nah it’s okay,” Suda Akari never lost her cheerful smile. “Why are you in such a rush Yuko-san?”

“Oh! Have you seen Nyan-Nyan?”

“Kojima-san? Ah! I saw her going into one of the dressing rooms earlier, if you’re lucky she should still be there!”

“Thanks Akarin, I owe you!”

Rushing off again with a final wave and smile directed at Akari, Yuko only had one goal in mind.

Wait for me, I’m coming Nyan-Nyan!

Haruna noticed that she had a notification for her twitter and she checked it, giggling at Mariko’s tweet about her outfit and she got ready to type out a reply.

“Mari-chan again!” Someone snatched her phone out of her hands.

“Yuko!” Jumping out of the chair, Haruna scolded the culprit. “Why did you do that?”

Yuko puffed out her cheeks. “Nyan-Nyan is so mean! She gave everyone love injections except for me!”

“Eh?” Haruna flushed as Yuko came closer, moving backwards instinctively. “That’s because-”

“You know,” Yuko managed to corner Haruna against the sofa in the far right of the room. “I should be the one angry instead!”

“Why?” Haruna was caught unawares when the back of her knees hit the sofa, causing her to sit down on it with a short scream.

“Because of Nyan-Nyan,” Yuko didn’t waste a second and quickly sat on Haruna’s lap, never breaking the eye contact with Haruna. She threw her arms around Haruna’s neck, not giving her anywhere to run.

“Why is it my fault?”

“Even though it was my solo, it’s still our duet, our song!” Yuko gave Haruna a sad face. “I kept waiting for Nyan-Nyan to show up on stage and take me away but you didn’t!”

“Baka, it’s not in the script!” Haruna smacked Yuko on the head lightly in embarrassment. “We’ll get into trouble!”

“But it would have fit with the song!” Yuko insisted. “Scandalous ni ikou!”

“Baka…” Haruna blushed when Yuko pecked her on the cheek.

“Not to mention, Nyan-Nyan…” Yuko then smiled happily. “You were jealous, weren’t you?”

“W-What? I wasn’t!” Haruna denied furiously. “You must be dreaming!”

“Don’t lie Nyan-Nyan, I’ve got eyewitness accounts~” Yuko rubbed her cheek against Haruna’s. “Ahh, Nyan-Nyan is just too cute!”

“Mou…” Haruna pouted. “I definitely wasn’t jealous…”

“Hmm, I was thinking about whether or not to make him give me a princess carry at the end…” Yuko said thoughtfully. “Like what we did during the Request Hour, you know?”

Haruna froze.

“I’m just kidding,” Yuko explained hastily, seeing how the aura around Haruna turned murderous for a second. “I’m kidding, I swear!”

“Good.” Yuko was surprised when Haruna suddenly hugged her.

“Yuu-chan belongs to me, and only me.” Haruna said softly, her voice muffled but Yuko managed to hear it.

Nyan-Nyan! Yuko glomped Haruna in return, forcing her hands to stay still and not ruin the moment. She’s making it soooo difficult for me to control myself!

“Nee Nyan-Nyan?”

“Hm?”

“Does this mean that you were jealous?”

Oops. Yuko felt a chill run down her spine. Wrong question.

“To be fair Nyan-Nyan, you got your revenge by giving everyone love injections except for me!” Yuko tried to hide her unease. “Even Bakamina!”

“Well, Yuu-chan will never get a love injection from me to charge you up!” Haruna flicked Yuko’s forehead. “Never~ ever~!”

“Hidoi!” Yuko shielded her forehead from any further abuse, tears in her eyes. “Nyan-Nyan doesn’t love me anymore! She really doesn’t want me anymore!”

“Baka squirrel…” Haruna sighed, weak to the sight of a crying Yuko, and she gently moved Yuko’s hands away before kissing the spot that she had hit earlier, rubbing it slightly. “I didn’t hit you that hard!”

“It doesn’t hurt much physically but Nyan-Nyan’s words wounded my heart!” Yuko sniffed, sulking. “Why won’t I get a love injection from you?”

“That’s because Yuu-chan is special…” Yuko’s lips were caught in a passionate kiss by Haruna, leaving her panting and wanting for more when they finally parted for some much needed air.

“Are you all charged up Oshima-san?” Haruna winked at a dazed Yuko. “Only Yuu-chan gets a love chu to charge her up~”

“Eh?” Yuko snapped out of her daze, jumping on Haruna and pushing her down. “Not enough! I need more than just one kiss to charge me up!”

“Yuu-chan!”

“Hehehe… You’re not getting off that easily for making me jealous Nyan-Nyan!”

-End-

The Roundabout Way to Love - When she likes you and you like her, and you know that you like her but she doesn’t know that she likes you

“Y-Yuu-chan…” Haruna gasped. “D-Don’t…”

Yuko ignored her and continued her assault on Haruna’s neck, licking, biting and kissing every inch of skin.

Summoning all of her strength Haruna managed to push Yuko away slightly.

“Yuu-chan! Mari-chan might be back any moment!”

“I don’t care.”

“But if she finds out, she won’t let you off…”

The two of them continued to stare at each other before being drawn into another passionate kiss, Yuko’s hands fumbling with the buttons on Haruna’s blouse as-

_____________________________________________________________________________________

“This!” Yuko slammed the notebook on the table. “Where’s the next part?!”

“I haven’t written it yet.” Atsuko shrugged nonchalently. “Too bad for you, I guess.”

“Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Yuko crumbled. “Why?!”

“I realized I had to work on Akimoto-sensei’s assignment so I stopped.”

“Damn you Akimoto-sensei!” Yuko shouted at the ceiling. “I need my KojiYuu right now!”

Atsuko carefully kept the notebook in her bag. “You do realize that it’s a MariKojiYuu fic right?”

“Meh, I’ll just keep harassing you to end it with KojiYuu!” Yuko said determinedly. “Anything to ensure my happy end with Kojima-san!”

“Your fictional happy end,” Atsuko retorted. “The Kojima Haruna in real life doesn’t even register you as a human, you perverted squirrel.”

“You forgot cute! I’m a cute perverted squirrel!” Yuko then grinned confidently. “And I’ll wear Kojima-san down someday, she’s just tsundere, I know it.”

“I think I forgot to add in shameless as well…” Atsuko muttered as she shook her head at her friend’s behavior.

Yuko had claimed that it was ‘love at first sight’ for her when she had first seen Kojima Haruna at the entrance ceremony, and to cut a long story short it basically resulted in Yuko falling and Haruna cushioning her fall.

Unfortunately for Yuko though, it had already been a year of pursuit and to Atsuko, all Yuko seemed to get in return for her persistence were violent smacks on the head and perhaps a thicker skull.

It must have been the way Yuko started groping her breasts and even rubbing her face against them while laughing… Atsuko sighed to herself as she wondered just how her childhood friend grew up to be like that. I managed to grow up normally! ... somewhat...

“Ooh! Your bento today is as delicious as always Acchan! Your mother’s cooking is superb!”

“Why aren’t you bothering Nyan-Nyan right now?” Atsuko asked; trying to rein in her temper when Yuko took a piece of her ebi tempura.

“Yeah Yuko, usually you’re all over-oh.” Takahashi Minami, one of the few people in the world that knew Atsuko’s dark secret, shut up at the sight of a bright red handprint on Yuko’s cheek.

“Aren’t you tired of getting rejected all the time by now?”

“How can you say that Acchan!” Yuko exclaimed, waving the stolen ebi tempura in front of Atsuko, not knowing how dangerous that action was. “You’re a writer, a writer! Where’s your sense of romanticism?!”

That’s why you’re such an M, Yuko… Atsuko forced herself to ignore Yuko and continued to munch on her food, using her body to shield her precious bento from Yuko to prevent a repeat stealing incident. It would be difficult to explain to her mother why she sent Yuko to the hospital again. The others might think you’re some idiot but you’re a total M.

“I’ll keep trying until she realizes that she actually likes my skin-ship and accepts my public displays of affection!” Undeterred, Yuko started going off on one of her daydreams again. “Then the two of us will… ehehe…”

“The two of you will?” Minami said in confusion, not getting it at all.

“Don’t ask Takamina.” Atsuko ruthlessly stuffed a slice of tomato into the ribbon-lover’s open mouth. “Don’t.”

Minami was almost in tears as she choked down the tomato. “Acchan is so mean…”

It was just another normal day in the life of Maeda Atsuko, defending her food from thieving childhood friends obsessed with one of her classmates while bullying the short student council president whenever she felt like it.

If she was lucky, she could even squeeze in a few paragraphs later on.

Paragraphs you say?

Well you see, Atsuko was not just one of your average high school students.

She was one of your average high school students in a girl’s school with a dark secret that by rights, no one could know...

She, Maeda Atsuko, had a burning passion for the ambiguous yet wonderful relationship between girls.

Yes, Maeda Atsuko was a yuri fangirl, which was one of the reasons why she had studied her butt off to get into this prestigious school, the school having ‘set her radar off’ the instant she had walked past it. Her unsuspecting parents were none the wiser, glad that their normally unenthused daughter had suddenly seemed interested in something for the first time in her life (that they had witnessed) and they willingly paid all the school fees and miscellaneous expenses.

Being enrolled in a girl’s school, it was utter paradise for Atsuko with girls everywhere clinging onto each other and giggling together and generally doing stuff together and whatnot; it was fortunate that she had long mastered the ability to keep a straight face, due to the fact that she was almost always wearing her yuri goggles and that she would be locked up in a mental facility if she outwardly showed any of her reactions.

Out of all those girls, there was a pair in her class that had caught her attention in particular.

Shinoda Mariko and Kojima Haruna were best friends; that much everyone knew but around six months ago Atsuko began to sense a different air around the two of them, like they were hiding something.

Being the goggles wearing fangirl that she was, Atsuko was suddenly struck by inspiration and felt a feverish urge to scribble something, thus starting her newfound writing hobby.

Over time her pairings increased to include other couples in her fictions, like that tall duo from Yuko’s class – What were they called again? Twin Tower? – And many more; Atsuko even came up with pairing names for some of them, which were basically a portmanteau of their names.

“Y-You can have my ebi tempura Acchan…” Minami said timidly as she placed it atop Atsuko’s rice before dashing out of the room, claiming that she had some student council business to attend to.

“But aren’t we in the student council room?” Atsuko blinked. “If she has student council stuff to do then shouldn’t she stay here?”

“You’re getting ahead of yourself,” Yuko teased. “Not every ‘student council business’ equals needing to stay in the student council room and admiring you.”

Atsuko glared at Yuko.

Geez… what happened to her sense of humor? “Bakamina’s probably still heartbroken after you rejected her despite her brave confession,” Yuko sighed and shook her head. “Poor girl, to have fallen for a certain heartless someone with a black hole for a stomach…”

Atsuko flushed. “I’ve already told you countless times, I’m not interested in romance!”

Yuko studied her carefully. “Are you really sure?”

“I am.” Atsuko said firmly. “If you don’t stop being such a busybody I’ll write five more tragic KojiYuu oneshots and force you to read them! Besides, shouldn’t you be worrying about your non-existent relationship with Nyan-Nyan instead of mine?”

“There’s no need to worry about me and Kojima-san,” Yuko stood up and stretched. “Ah, I think I’ll go look for Takamina to make sure that she’s not crying.”

Atsuko kept silent.

“You can fool yourself Acchan, but you can’t fool me.” Smirking, Yuko walked off, pausing at the doorway. “You say you get inspired even when you see two people who ‘have chemistry’ just talking, well then why don’t you try writing a TakaYuu piece?”

The door closed and Atsuko stared at the ebi tempura on her rice.

“TakaYuu?”

_____________________________________________________________________________________

“Takamina!” Yuko jumped on her unsuspecting fellow midget sitting alone morosely on a bench. “Don’t cry, cheer up! Acchan’s dense, but not as dense as you; it took you a year to realize that you liked her so she’ll probably catch on earlier than that… but then again, she might be super-duper dense despite her almost ripping that other girl’s head off for trying to get close to you… Anyway just be patient and don’t worry, she’ll realize that she likes you… soon… I think…”

Knowing Atsuko’s personality, Yuko frowned as she considered the possibilities before trying to smile reassuringly at Minami. “… It’ll happen someday, I’m sure of it!”

“Yuko! Get off!” Minami tried to pry the squirrel off. “You’re heavy and what if Acchan sees and-”

“Starts shipping us together?” Yuko said, resting her chin on Minami’s shoulder. “Hmm… that wouldn’t be too bad though, I mean Takamina is a reliable person…”

Minami froze, blushing. “Y-Yuko!”

“Just too bad my type is tall, not flat, not obsessed with ribbons, oh and did I mention tall? Plus she’s tall and she has those cute- oh Nyan-Nyan!” Yuko spotted Haruna from a distance away and dashed towards her immediately, leaving a wounded Minami behind.

“I know you were upset about the heavy comment, but did you really have to mention tall thrice?!”

_____________________________________________________________________________________

“Well, well, well… if it isn’t Oshima Yuko!” Mariko said from her spot beside Haruna. “Why don’t you let go?”

“You let go first!” Yuko tightened her grip on Haruna’s arm, Mariko following suit on Haruna’s other arm. “I’ll keep holding onto Nyan-Nyan forever!”

Haruna’s eyelid twitched violently as the two of them started playing tug-of-war with her serving as the rope, interfering with her NDS game.

“THE TWO OF YOU LET GO!”

“Nyan-Nyan is angry.”

“Nyaro is angry.”

The two of them exchanged a look. “RUN!”

Fortunately for the two of them, Haruna couldn’t catch up with her unfit physical state and they were safe.

“You know Yuko,” Mariko panted, trying to catch her breath once they were far enough. “I’m going to watch a movie with Nyaro later on, after school.”

“Are you trying to make me admit defeat?” Yuko responded. “I’m sure you know by now that you’d have to try harder than that!”

The two of them smiled at each other and shook hands.

“You know, I think we would be pretty good friends if we weren’t love rivals or something like that.” Mariko commented loudly, the both of them ignoring the growing crowd of screaming fangirls around them.

“Love rivals!”

“Kyaa! MariKojiYuu in action!”

“Don’t be stupid, it’s MariYuu!”

“Didn’t you hear Mariko-sama saying that she and Haruna-sama are going to the movies later?”

“That is so definitely a date!”

“MariHaru date!”

“Mariko-sama and Yuko-sama are so cool, Haruna-sama is so lucky!”

“Alright time to go back to class now,” Mariko glanced at her watch and started shooing the crowd. “My dad wouldn’t be happy if he found out that the students aren’t attending classes on time.”

“Kyaa! Imagine if Mariko-sama took over from her father as the director of the school!”

“Director Shinoda Mariko!”

“So cool!”

“Hey, hey, if you all don’t go back to class now I’ll touch all of your oshiri!” Yuko decided to lend Mariko a hand and started chasing the girls towards the school building.

“Kyaa! Run it’s the Oshiri Inspector!”

Despite being thankful that Yuko had managed to disperse the crowd, Mariko feared for Yuko’s other cheek.

After school

Atsuko stared at the paper before her in frustration, crumpling it up into a ball and throwing it towards the bin where it joined several other rejected scripts littering the floor, the bin having already been long filled up.

Taking a fresh piece of paper, Atsuko attempted to write again but found no words coming to her mind even though she could see clearly in her mind memories of Minami and Yuko chatting, Yuko making fun of Minami, instances that in other cases involving other couples could spawn an immediate oneshot or even a multi-chapter fic if she was on a roll.

“It just comes out wrong!” Atsuko hit her desk in frustration. She had tried her best, honestly; some of her attempts had filled up half the page before Atsuko changed her mind and some had consisted of only a few words before Atsuko decided that it wasn’t good enough.

TakaYuu… Some part of Atsuko felt weird when she thought about it. Sure, Minami and Yuko got along well, almost too well that Yuko sometimes joked that they were long-lost siblings with her being the wild one while Minami was the responsible one.

“Okay, calm down Atsuko!” She told herself. “I know writing Yuko’s fine, but Takamina…”

That was when Atsuko realized that she had never written about Minami before.

“Takamina…” Atsuko grabbed her notebooks and files and feverishly flipped through them. “I really haven’t…”

Yosh! Then I’ll try to write one about Takamina then, maybe not TakaYuu but with someone else! Atsuko smiled happily as she pressed her pen to the paper.

Then her pen froze.

“I… can’t…”

I can’t write about Takamina with anyone! Atsuko panicked. I… just can’t…

At the movies

“Mari-chan…” Haruna stared apprehensively at the movie poster. “Are you sure that you want to watch that?”

“I-It’ll be f-fine Nyaro,” Mariko reassured, although she didn’t sound reassuring at all with her trembling. “M-My onee-chan said that s-she wanted t-to watch it b-but didn’t h-have a chance t-to…”

She’s obviously forcing herself… Haruna knew that Mariko didn’t like scary stuff, and this movie was just… a quick check showed that even the reviews about it online pinpointed that it was a movie that Mariko would never watch.

Normally.

Haruna was worried for Mariko. “Are you really sure?”

“Y-Yeah, I’ll just go get the p-popcorn and w-we can go in…” Mariko trudged away lifelessly. “W-What drinks do y-you want?”

------

“Why don’t I hold onto the popcorn?” Haruna offered, seeing how Mariko’s hands were shaking terribly that a quarter of the popcorn was already gone as the casualty of spillage. She squeezed Mariko’s hand comfortingly with her free hand as they entered the dark theater. “It’ll be fine Mari-chan.”

“Boo.”

“AAH!” Mariko jumped and clung onto Haruna. “THAT SCARED ME WHAT WAS THAT?!”

Haruna merely blinked as she tried to make out the small figure in the darkness. “Maachan?”

“I came earlier today,” Oku Manami smiled as she came over to pat Mariko on the head. “But I see that I’ve scared my poor imouto…”

“Mou, don’t do that again!” Mariko pouted as she immediately switched over to clinging on Manami. “That was mean! You know I’m not good with things like this…”

“Aww I’m sorry,” Manami didn’t look sorry at all. “Are you angry?”

“Hmm…” Mariko pretended to think for a bit. “Maybe I am, but if you give me a-”

Haruna coughed, reminding them that she was still here.

“Oh Nyaro!” Mariko looked around. “Where’s Yuko? I thought I told her earlier in school that we would be watching a movie today.”

“Did you remember to tell her what we were going to watch?”

At the guilty look on Mariko’s face, Haruna sighed. “I don’t know why we even made that deal in the first place.”

“Hey! It’s a mutually beneficial relationship!” Mariko protested. “You cover for me and I cover for you!”

“But when you mess things up like this…”

“Sorry…” Mariko said sheepishly. “But it’ll be fine! Yuko has crazy mad stalking skillz so she’ll be able to locate us, or more accurately, you!”

“Skillz?”

As if on cue, Haruna was glomped by a familiar weight. “Nyan-Nyan!”

“Like I said, crazy mad stalking skillz.” Mariko repeated, surprisingly unsurprised by the sudden appearance of Yuko. “I told you so.”

“Now that everyone’s here,” Manami spoke up. “Let’s go to our seats?”

“Look Nyan-Nyan! Couple seats!” Yuko pointed excitedly while clinging onto Haruna. “We get to watch while seating on couple seats!”

Haruna blushed and swiped at Yuko’s head. “You’re too noisy squirrel!”

“Maachan…” Mariko tugged at Manami’s sleeve. “I’m scared…”

“Don’t worry Mari-chan; I made sure that there won’t be anyone else watching with us, the four of us have the entire theater to ourselves!” Manami smiled. “You can scream all you want!”

Mariko’s eyes widened and she stared at the empty rows of seats. “W-Watching… alone?!”

Yes! I can skin-ship with Nyan-Nyan without worrying about others seeing! Yuko cheered mentally, laughing pervertedly. “Ehehehe…”

“What dirty things are you thinking about now?” Haruna smacked Yuko’s head. “Focus!”

“I’m always thinking about you Nyan-Nyan!” Yuko declared, noticing that Haruna seemed uneasy. She smiled and held Haruna’s hand. “Don’t worry! I’ll protect you!”

Meanwhile, Manami was comforting Mariko. “I’ll be beside you all the time, don’t worry. But if you feel that you can’t take it then it’s okay, we can always skip the movie.”

“No!” Mariko gulped, gathering all of her courage. “You were looking forward to watching this so…”

Oku Manami had a huge smile on her face as she settled down to watch her favorite show: Shinoda Mariko’s terrified reactions.

Outside the Takahashi residence

Minami frowned when she heard the doorbell ringing incessantly followed by rapid knocks on the door.

Who is that so late in the evening? She got up from her study desk and hurried to the door. I thought Okaa-san wouldn't be back so early?

“A-Acchan!” Minami stammered when she opened the door and one Maeda Atsuko hugged her. “What’s wrong?”

“I can’t Takamina! I can’t!”

She can’t what? Minami was confused but she patted her on the back, leading Atsuko to the living room and sitting on the sofa; however Atsuko refused to let go when Minami tried to get loose to get her a glass of water.

“What’s wrong?” Minami asked again after letting Atsuko calm down for a while.

“I can’t write anything about you.”

“Huh?”

“Yuko told me to try writing a TakaYuu fic, and I did try but I couldn’t!” Atsuko babbled agitatedly. “Then I tried writing something where I shipped you with someone else, anyone but I couldn’t!”

TakaYuu? Shipping me with someone? … What is that squirrel up to now? Minami sighed as she stroked Atsuko’s hair. “It’s alright if you can’t Acchan. If you can’t, then just don’t; there’s no need to stress yourself over it.”

“But why can’t I?” Atsuko asked, more to herself than to Minami. “And I’ve never written one fic about you before…”

Eh? Minami flushed, sensing a chance. “M-Maybe it’s because-”

“This means that I still need to improve!” Atsuko declared resolutely before her stomach suddenly growled. She blinked. “Ah. I’m hungry.”

A-Acchan…

Takahashi Minami felt like crying, but she controlled herself. “W-Why don’t you stay over tonight? We can wake up early to go over to your place in the morning for you to get your stuff?”

At Atsuko’s nod, she continued. “Okaa-san’s out today so I’ll start on dinner now, you can watch some TV while waiting if you want.”

“Nuh uh,” Atsuko smiled brightly at her. “I’ll help you!”

It was tiny moments like this that gave Minami hope, despite how desolate her situation seemed.

“Come on,” Atsuko grabbed hold of her hand and dragged her to the kitchen. “I wasn’t kidding when I said that I was hungry.”

_____________________________________________________________________________________

The next morning

“Oh? The two of you are going to school together again?” Yuko teased when she bumped into Atsuko and Minami on the way to school. “Wow! Acchan must have spent the night in Takamina’s house~!”

“Shut up,” Atsuko flushed, glaring at Yuko. “Or I’ll give you another bruise to match the one on- eh?”

“You heal really fast.” Minami examined the yellowing bruise on Yuko’s cheek. “Looking at your cheek yesterday I thought it would be all swollen the next day but…”

“That’s the benefits of being a healthy person!” Yuko said. “It’s something you exercise idiots can’t understand! Having regular exercise and a happy, positive attitude-”

“Did she hit her head yesterday?” Atsuko asked Minami. “Something’s off about her…”

“It sure seems like it,” Minami agreed. “It’s either that or something really good happened…”

“But since we all know nothing really good ever happens to Yuko-”

“Hey!” Yuko protested. “I’m still here you know!”

“Yep, definitely something wrong with her.” Atsuko took hold of Minami’s hand and dragged her off. “We better stay away in case it’s contagious.”

“You could have just said so if you wanted to hold Takamina’s hand Acchan!” Yuko called out. “No need to hide! I’m sure that Takamina doesn’t mind either!”

“Shut up!”

“Hehe…” Yuko smiled secretively to herself. “Besides, I have a special treatment for special injuries like that.”

-----

“Ne Takamina,” Minami looked up from where she had been staring at their linked hands; Atsuko hadn’t let go even though several minutes had passed since they had left Yuko.

“What is it Acchan?”

“Those girls…” Atsuko pointed out with a shaky finger. “Where are they from?”

Minami followed Atsuko’s line of sight. “Ah, that group of girls over there? They’re wearing the uniform of the nearby SKE private school; we might have a student exchange with them later on in the year-”

“Not that!” Atsuko forced herself to remain still and keep her volume level down. “That girl obviously likes that other girl, that one that’s currently being clung onto by that… kissing monster. Plus, the jealousy level surrounding those three is way too high!”

Jealousy level?

Minami stared.

To her, it looked like a normal scene with one of the girls (that Atsuko had christened as the ‘kissing monster’) trying to adjust the collar of another girl while fixing her tie with another girl looking on; and the rest of the other SKE girls were milling about, chatting – are they waiting for someone else? – a perfectly normal scene.

Wait. Minami froze. If Atsuko can sense that that girl likes the other girl then why can’t she-

“A pen and paper Takamina!” Atsuko shook her. “I need a pen and paper right now! And take a picture!”

“W-Wait Acchan, we’ll be late for school and what if they think we’re some sort of stalker?”

“Do it!”

A- Acchan!

Takahashi Minami felt like crying, something she had been prone to doing lately.

Ganbare Takahashi Minami! You still have a ways to go!

I think the reason Acchan can't write about Takamina is because she unconsciously loves Takamina. For her, it's painful to pair Takamina up with anyone because she loves her, but isn't aware of it. Am I making sense?

Is KojiYuu actually really dating but is hiding it? And Mariko is helping them?

Did Acchan just see WMatsui and Airin? Kissing monster Jurina was clinging onto Rena while Airin was looking at them?

Please continue this fic!

I was smiling the whole time reading everything. You got a sense of humor. :thumbup

Woah! Oku is older than Mariko and they're sisters... and lovers?

Kojiyuu is dating. :yep:

Poor Takamina. Acchan why are you so dense? If you can't ship Takamina with anybody then why not ship yourself with her.

Is this only a one-shot or is there a second part?

kuro_808: Acchan is fabulous that way LOL.

hikari_043083: You are making sense, don't worry. As for how the relationships are... we'll see since we all know how the story can change with people getting together/breaking up on the author's whim.

Konoe: Thanks; I like to think that my sense of humor was better when I was younger but maybe that's just me getting high off sugar from sweets. Oku and Mariko are doing their "Oku is older than Mariko" gag and Mariko is acting cute. KojiYuu... XD Acchan and Takamina.... XDDDD It was supposed to be a one-shot but my mind wanders when I'm supposed to do like, important stuff. Actually there was just this line that popped up while I was discussing something else with someone that screamed at me to put it in something. So I did.

cisda83: You're welcome! Unfortunately, this "series" won't really be a continuation because I struggle in long stories so it's more of jumping here and there with bits and pieces. Really sorry!

Haruko: I don't know why, but for some reason I like to bully Takamina and Yuko XD  But I prefer a more pro-active Yuko than angst Yuko so the Yuko here probably has a super thick skull trained from a lot of smacks.

AN: This is messy because a lot of things are happening.

The Roundabout Way to Love - The drama of unnecessary necessary love shapes and sixth senses

“Mariko.”

“What is it?” Mariko said grouchily, not in the best of moods as her favorite loli Oku Manami had to go to Italy with her parents for a two week trip.

She had just seen Manami off at the airport early this morning; a mere five hours had passed and Mariko was missing her already.

What perfect timing… just when school’s off for two weeks…

Mariko sadly thought of all the plans cancelled just because of the sudden announcement of the Italy trip from Manami’s parents.

What am I going to do for two weeks?!

“Mariko!”

Even Harugon’s gone off to Indonesia for some extended school exchange thingy…

“Shinoda Mariko!”

“Huh? I mean, I’m listening!” Mariko frowned at her mother, wondering why the older woman had asked to see her so suddenly.

“It has come to my attention about your certain… tendencies,” Mariko’s mother, Shinoda Masako, started lightly, yet it caused Mariko to squirm in her chair from the way the word ‘tendencies’ was spoken.

She knows?! Mariko forced herself to keep her poker face. But that’s not possible; I made sure to cover my tracks…

“May I know what do you mean by tendencies?”

Masako wordlessly dumped a pile of photos onto the desk.

Mariko’s eyes widened as she grabbed up the precious photos. “That’s my secret collection! How did you find them?!”

“I am very disappointed in you, young lady.” Her mother lectured in reply. “Do you know how dangerous this is if someone else not so understanding found out? Like your grandfather? He’ll most likely rip up the photos into tiny pieces in front of you and then throw them into the fireplace just so that you can watch them burn slowly and–”

Masako shuddered, seeming to be lost somewhere.

“Are you alright Okaa-san?” Mariko’s eyebrow rose. She knew about her grandfather and his… dislike for lolicons, but then…

She sounds… almost like she’s speaking from personal experience…

“You’ll be meeting someone for lunch today.”

“What for? I-”

“Do you want your grandfather to know about this?”

As uneasy as she was about having her secret exposed, Mariko knew that her mother would keep her word and she also knew when to cut her losses. “When and where is it?”

At the same time, with Yuko

Yuko hummed happily as she made her way down the familiar street to the Kojima residence, a bouquet of flowers in hand.

It’s been so long since we last met Nyan-Nyan! I can’t wait!

Just last night

“Bye Nyan-Nyan,” Yuko said sadly as they reached the front door of Haruna’s home. “I’ll miss you.”

Don’t look at the eyes, don’t look at the eyes! Haruna forced herself to keep it together. “It’s not that long; just the weekend, only two days and you’ll be back to harassing me in school again since we have club activities. It’ll fly by like it always does!”

“But two days!” Yuko protested. “That’s forty-eight hours! Two thousand eight hundred and eighty minutes! One hundred seventy-two thousand and eight hundred seconds! One hundred seventy-two billion–”

There was complete silence for about three seconds before Yuko registered what had happened and started laughing.

“Ehehehe…”

“Close your mouth, you’re drooling,” Haruna scolded, her face red. “It’s unsightly.”

“Nyan-Nyan chu-ed me… ehehehe…”

“Is she even listening?” Haruna muttered under her breath, shaking her head as she took the keys from her bag and unlocked the door. Baka, she’s always like this. Being so happy just about a kiss…

Haruna was really glad that currently her back was facing Yuko so the shorter girl couldn’t see how she was struggling to keep a smile down.

“Nyan-Nyan...” The sound of the door being unlocked snapped Yuko out of her mini daydream. “Goodbye chu?”

Haruna flushed. “You already got a kiss just now!”

“That was a shut up chu, it’s different!” Yuko stomped her foot on the round childishly. “I want a goodbye chu to tide me over the two days! Goodbye chu!”

-----

Yuko strolled down the street, enjoying the cool night breeze and ignoring the stinging pain of her left cheek.

Her phone rang suddenly.

“Hello? This is Oshima Yuko–”

“Yuko? I’m going to hide out in China for a bit, help keep dad off my trail thanks!”

“Wait Onii-chan!” Yuko managed to cut in before he hung up. “I have a friend who knows people in Shanghai that can help; I’ll mail you the details later.”

“I knew I could count on my sister! Gotta catch my flight now, bye!”

“Have a safe trip!”

After ending the call, Yuko called Sae and explained the situation, the Genking agreeing to help readily; promising to tell her people over there to look out for Yuko’s brother and even saying that she would fly to Shanghai to ensure that he settled in nicely.

“You don’t have to do all that just for my brother Sae-chan!”

“No worries; besides I can take the opportunity to show off my Mandarin to Sayaka; she’s always going on and on in English so it’s my turn now! Plus it’ll be a nice way to spend the break; you should totally join us so that we can do some trio bonding.”

“Nah, I don’t want to intrude on your couple time,” Yuko teased. “Honestly, are you sure the two of you aren’t together?”

“From the way I see it, someone just doesn’t want to leave Kojipa~” Sae replied good-naturedly. “You have no time for your buddies now that you’re all busy dating, Saeyaka is so sad…”

“Saeyaka? I still can’t believe that you read Acch– I mean, A’s stories on that secret magazine...” Yuko managed to stop herself in time. “Isn’t it weird reading them? Especially when the stories are…like that...”

“Well I’m sure that A doesn’t mean any harm and besides, don’t you think our combined names sound nice?”

-----

“I’m home!” Yuko shouted, going to her father’s study when she didn’t get any reply. “Is there something wrong?”

“Yuko!” Her father looked up. “Finally! Come; help me think of where your brother could have gone to!”

Yuko acted innocent. “What do you mean by where he could have gone to? He disappeared?”

“That brother of yours went missing suddenly when he’s supposed to meet his fiancée tomorrow!” Oshima-papa raged. “And the engagement ceremony is to be held three weeks from now!”

“Onii-chan has a fiancée?” Yuko was surprised. “Why didn’t I know?”

Oshima-papa was surprised as well. “He didn’t tell you?”

Yuko shook her head, thinking about her brother who was normally the responsible one. An unwanted marriage huh? No wonder he ran off.

“-how am I going to answer to the Kojima family now? And everything will have to be postponed until we find-”

Wait! Yuko’s daydream screeched to a halt as she hastily cut in. “What did you say just now?”

“We have to find your brother?”

“No, before that.”

“Everything has to be postponed until we find your brother?”

“No, even before that.”

“How am I going to explain to the Kojima family now?”

“That!” Yuko shouted, shocking her father. “What Kojima family?”

“His fiancée is from the Kojima family,” Oshima-papa frowned as he tried to remember. “If I’m not wrong, she should be in the same school as you…”

“What’s her name? There are tons of Kojima in school.” Yuko tried to keep her tone light despite the strange feeling in her gut.

“Kojima Haruna,” Yuko’s grandmother informed from her spot on a sofa in a corner of the room before Oshima-papa could ask for help.

“Obaa-chan! I didn’t see you there!”

“Don’t worry,” Yuko’s grandmother smiled, long used to the Oshima family’s single-track mind the instant they focused on something.

“Right, Kojima Haruna,” Oshima-papa muttered to himself. “It slipped my mind for a moment there.”

That *#@&$@^!!! Yuko swore mentally, seeing red. He knew and he didn’t tell me?! He was probably going to secretly get married and let me find out only when Nyan-Nyan suddenly appears at home! As his wife!

Needless to say, Yuko forgot about how her brother also knew about her and Haruna and that there was no way Yuko wouldn’t be invited if he was getting married, Oshima-papa would make sure of that.

Not to mention that her brother knew, having learnt firsthand years ago, that one should never, ever piss off Oshima Yuko.

“I’ll take his place Otou-san,” Yuko tried to sound as self-sacrificing as she could currently, despite the fact that she was laughing madly inside. Yes, this is all working out great! I’ll get engaged to Nyan-Nyan, then once we’re engaged somehow someone will miraculously spot Onii-chan in Shanghai and then! Heheh…

“You will Yuko?” Oshima-papa said, touched. After all the trouble that Kojima-papa had gone to; helping him out while he was training to be a sushi chef, even loaning him money to renovate the sushi shop when he had first inherited it; he really didn’t know how to face them.

“Yes,” Yuko took a deep breath dramatically. “It’s only right when Onii-chan has run away.”

“You’re such a good girl Yuko! Not like that brother of yours…”

Yuko’s grandmother sweat-dropped when she saw Yuko fighting to keep a grin down with Oshima-papa none the wiser, knowing that it meant something was up.

“Yuko,” Hurrying after Yuko when the girl left the room, Yuko’s grandmother said carefully. “Do you know that the Kojima family also has a son?”

“Yeah,” Yuko beamed, recalling the countless times where she had invited herself to Haruna’s place for dinner. “I’ve been there.”

“Then you do realize that if you’re taking your brother’s place, wouldn’t the engagement switch to–”

“Gosh, look at the time! I have to get my beauty sleep before going to see Nyan-Nyan tomorrow!” Yuko kissed her grandmother on the cheek and sped off. “Night Obaa-chan!”

-End flashback-

With Atsuko

Atsuko yawned as she sat in front of her laptop, waiting for it to boot up as she looked through her papers while chewing on her toast.

Hmm… what should I release this week? She wondered, quickly demolishing half of her brunch when a messenger window popped up, alerting her of a new chat. “Huh? So fast…”

H said:
A-san! You’re here!

A said:
You’re as early as always H. Don’t you sleep in on weekends?

H said:

I’m always online! *doya face*

H said:
M was online earlier but said that there was something on, we’ll decide the stuff on our own today.

A said:
Okay.

H said:
What story are you going to publish this time?

A said:
I’m not sure…

A said:
What do you think?

H said:
Ah, you know I was looking through past publications and I realized that there hasn’t been one with the Student Council President!

A said:
By Student Council President you mean Takahashi Minami???

H said:
Yeah!

H said:
There’s only one Student Council President in school.

A said:

H said:
Aren’t I good to be able to spot that?

A said:

A said:
NO!

Panicking at the fact that her writing weakness was in danger of being exposed, Atsuko started spamming the chat.

A said:
The Student Council President is NO!

A said:
JUST NO!

A said:
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Time skip)

Mariko looked around the restaurant, spotting a huge ribbon atop a familiar head from afar.

Eh? Isn’t that Minami? She’s the only one who would wear something like this… What’s she doing- oh? Mariko discreetly snuck closer and snapped a shot, smirking as she opened the Twitter app on her phone. This is going to be very interesting…

“Can I help you Miss?”

“Ah!” Mariko looked up. “I have a reservation for room 48?”

“Room 48?” The waiter gestured for her to follow him. “Right this way Miss.”

At the door to Room 48, the manager took over from the waiter and he informed Mariko. “Apologies Ms Shinoda but your lunch date will be slightly late, please feel free to start ordering while waiting.”

“No worries,” Mariko smiled and went in, rolling her eyes. Gah! How long will this take?! What is Okaa-san thinking, setting me up for something like this?!

“Good morning!” Haruna sleepily walked down the stairs, yawning.

“Good afternoon, you mean,” Kojima-mama said, guiding her daughter to the dining table so as to save her furniture from being damaged. “You just missed Yuko-chan; she was here earlier and went out with Ryo saying something about bonding and getting to know the family better.”

Haruna almost spit out her milk. “Y-Yuko? Oshima Yuko?”

“Yuko-chan is such a nice girl, she was looking for you but when she heard that you were still asleep she even told me to let you sleep till you woke up on your own!”

You mean Yuko passed up on an opportunity to jump me in my sleep?! Haruna was slightly miffed. “So why did she come? I didn’t get any texts or missed calls from her…”

“Don’t you remember? You were supposed to be engaged to her brother –”

“I was?”

“But for some reason he’s unavailable, so it changed to Yuko and Ryo instead.” Kojima-mama gushed. “Yuko-chan is such a lovely child, volunteering herself! Her father told me all about it when explaining and…”

Wait… it’s too early in the morning– oops I mean afternoon for this… Tuning out the rest of her mother’s words, Haruna calmly put down the glass of milk and looked around suspiciously, looking for hidden cameras.

“… I need you to run some errands for me downtown later, since Ryo’s busy…”

Right… nice try, but I won’t be fooled!

One hour later

Haruna froze when she spotted Yuko and her brother inside a jewelry store, with Yuko trying on various rings and then showing them to her brother.

“Oshima…”

Gah! Why is she smiling at him like that?!!!

“Just a simple lunch?” Mariko muttered under her breath as she played with her curry rice. “And Okaa-san was really suspicious when she said that there wouldn’t be much of a difference from having lunch with a loli…”

Mariko sighed.

“Don’t worry too much Mariko; there won’t be much of a difference from your usual meals with your… lolis…” Masako smiled encouragingly. “Just a little… more legal.”

“What the hell does she even mean by ‘more legal’?!”

There was a knock on the door before someone flounced in.

“Nice to meet you, I’m Minegishi Minami!”

Mariko’s mouth dropped open in shock.

Okaa-saaaaannn!!!!!! A LOLITA IS IN NO WAY SIMILAR TO A LOLI!!!!!!!

Stupid Yuko! Haruna sulked on a bench, having somehow found her way to a park after stomping away from the scene. And my dumb brother, I’m going kill- eh?

She blinked.

Wait, it’s none of my business! That dumb squirrel can marry whoever she wants! Stupid play girl!!! I shouldn’t have believed her!

“Are you alright?”

Haruna looked up to see a pale girl with long black hair smiling at her.

“Do you want to join us?” She continued, pointing at a group of girls gathered in a circle a distance away. “We’re playing Frisbee.”

“Jurina! Yukirin refuses to buy me an alpaca!”

“You call out the name of the person you’re passing it to and then shout out what frustrates you.” The girl explained as they watched the Frisbee fantastically fly in the opposite direction it was thrown in. “It’s alright even if you can’t throw properly; it’s all in good fun.”

“Someone destroy all the KFCs in the world!”

“Don’t mind her,” She said quickly, not wanting Haruna to misunderstand. “She has issues with people eating birds. She doesn’t really mean it. I think. Anyway,” The subject was hastily changed. “I’ve been watching you for a while now – wait, that sounds creepy!”

The girl hit herself.

“What I meant to say was you’re cute – wait that sounds creepy too!”

The girl hit herself again.

“I mean… erm… I wish I could look as cute as you do in a dress…? Not that you’re not cute though, because you definitely are and– gosh I’m starting to sound creepy again!”

The girl slapped her hands over her mouth.

Haruna burst into laughter, the girl joining in after blinking for a few seconds.

“You’re funny,” Haruna commented, smiling at her when the both of them had stopped laughing. Gesturing at the sundress the girl was wearing, Haruna said “But I think you would look cute in a dress too.”

“Thanks,” Haruna received a blush in reply and the girl continued staring at her before suddenly blurting out. “Can we start over?”

Haruna nodded, giggling.

The girl beamed; clearing her throat, she started again.

“You seem pretty down, so I thought I could distract you from your troubles for a bit.”

She held out a hand.

“I’m Rena, Matsui Rena.”

Somewhere else in the world

Yuko froze.

Why do I feel the sudden urge to find Nyan-Nyan?!

Yuko dashed out of the jewelry store, suddenly stopping in the middle of the busy street when something even more pressing than finding Haruna managed to capture her immediate attention.

My rival senses are tingling!

Yuko had an inner warning system that alerted her whenever someone was trying to get close to Haruna. It worked extremely well, almost too well in fact, that sometimes even when Akimoto-sensei was handing out papers it activated.

This is different; I have a bad feeling about this…

Yuko gritted her teeth.

She had to find Haruna, right now!

Wait for me Nyan-Nyan, I’m coming!

However, Oshima Yuko failed to remember that she had a bad feeling every single time her rival senses tingled.

Somewhere else in the world

Mariko froze.

Why do I suddenly feel like my lolis are in danger?!

“What’s wrong; did you finally choke on something because you had trouble swallowing after seeing your reflection in the glass?”

Shooting Mii-chan a glare, Mariko quickly took out her iPhone to send out a quick message on LINE to check on them.

“Quit being a busybody Gachapin,” Mariko shielded her phone from Mii-chan, who was cringing her neck in an obvious attempt to see what was on Mariko’s screen.

“Who’s interested in what you’re doing!” Mii-chan shot back as she stabbed a piece of meat and put it into her mouth. “You’d better be paying for lunch cuz I’m going to eat a lot!”

“Wait…” Ignoring the comment about lunch, Mariko finally registered Mii-chan’s earlier words. “You were worried about me choking?”

“W-What?” Mii-chan flushed. “I w-wasn’t! In your d-dreams!”

Somewhere else in the world

Manami was frowning at her phone, causing the man speaking to cough lightly.

“I’m listening.” Manami smiled, though that caused those gathered to shiver, which was strange considering how a bunch of tough-looking gangsters were scared of a little girl smiling.

“Our contacts in Japan, the Minegishi family will ensure that things go smoothly over there,” The shades-wearing guy continued with his briefing.

“Can the Yakuza be trusted?”

Manami toyed with her phone. “Their daughter is in my school, if anything goes wrong…”

The smirk on her face reminded everyone why she was related to the head of their mafia gang.

“Well, then let’s move onto the specifics of the plan; the…”

Tuning out the rest of the conversation, her frown returned as she stared at the LINE message.

For some reason, Oku Manami felt that she needed to get back to Japan as soon as possible.

Somewhere else in the world

The poor milk carton in Atsuko’s hands was crushed as she stared at her twitter feed.

More specifically, a certain Shinoda Mariko’s latest twitter update.

Somewhere else in the world

Takahashi Minami froze, feeling a chill run down her spine.

Strange, this feels just like the last time when I was with Ray and Atsuko appeared out of-

“Minami!”

“You’re here!” Shaking off the uneasy feeling that something bad was going to happen, Takahashi Minami smiled up at her lunch date. “I’ve been waiting forever; I helped you order your favorite natto along with a side order of chocolate fondue, you can order other stuff that I missed out.”

“You’re the best Minami!”

A few tables away from Takahashi Minami

The girl peered disapprovingly over the menu, trying to hide herself from sight yet watching what was going on.

“You’re the best Minami!”

The girl glowered.

“Chiyuu.”

About Rena, if you follow Rena you will know that she spazzes over the younger members and in general, cute things (girls) and once in a while she will spaz over Kojiharu, which is hilarious because it's Rena and with Kojiharu's comment on Rena in her photobook, well XD

Also, one of the food that Nagoya is famous for is chicken wings.

Bonus – Date?!

Recognizing the restaurant in the picture, Atsuko changed and made her way there immediately; spotting Minami’s huge ribbon at the back she discreetly made her way to a table that was far enough but yet with a good view of Minami’s table.

“Can I sit here?” She asked the girl who was already seated there.

“Chiyuu.”

Chiyuu? What does that mean? Atsuko froze. I don’t speak French! What to do…

Heck, like I’d bother if she said no.

She made up her mind after a few seconds and promptly sat down next to the girl, glaring daggers at the oblivious Minami who was chatting excitedly to her lunch date.

Say… that back view seems familiar… Shifting her attention to Minami’s lunch date, Atsuko frowned as she tried to recall where she had seen that back before.

Then it hit her.

You better not be who I think you are! Rising up, she rushed over to the other table, part of her subconscious registering that the Chiyuu girl had followed her.

“Minami…”

“A-Atsuko!” Minami began sweating bullets. “W-What are you doing here?”

Atsuko ignored her, focusing all of her attention on the one seated opposite Minami.

“And you…”

“Eh?” That infuriating lazy tone drawled out. “If it isn’t Maeda ‘Acchan’ Atsuko, the Intergalactic Black Hole that sucks up all the food!”

“I see that you haven’t changed one bit, the Overlord of No Taste buds, Tasteless Tomochin!” Atsuko shot back, the two of them scowling at each other.

“If you don’t mind Acchan, you’re interrupting a TakaTomo date.” Knowing Atsuko’s weak point, Tomochin grabbed Minami’s hand. “You’re being a–”

Tomochin’s eyes widened as she caught sight of who had been hiding behind Atsuko. “What are you doing here Tomo?”

“Well, the two of us are on a date too!” Atsuko grabbed the arm of the Chiyuu girl. “We’re… um…”

That was when Atsuko realized that she didn’t know what the girl’s name was and she looked at her for help.

“We’re Acchiyuu!”

Atsuko stared.

Tomochin face-palmed.

Minami took out a packet of tissues from her bag and offered it to the girl. “Here, I have tissues!”

Bonus – Consultation with Mii-chan

“Mii-chan!” Yuko glomped the other girl before she even had to chance to step into the classroom. “Mii-chan!”

“What’s wrong?” Mii-chan patted Yuko on the head. “Did you piss Haruna off again?”

“Oh, the tragedy!” Yuko continued, having not heard Mii-chan’s words at all. “I fell in love with a player! Of all people I fell in love with a player and-”

“Wait.” Mii-chan pushed Yuko away to look at her firmly in the eyes. “I thought you and Haruna…?”

She’d better not tell me she fell for someone else… Though both of them were her friends, Minegishi Minami had been attached to Kojima Haruna ever since the two of them and Minami had been grouped together to from a project group called ‘No3b’ back while she was still in Block A.

Don’t ask; Akimoto-sensei had some weird naming tastes.

“What are you talking about?” Yuko looked at Mii-chan in confusion. “I’ve been talking about Haruna all this while. Have you been listening?”

“Of course I have!” Mii-chan spluttered. “You said that you are in love with a player and-” Eh?

Something’s wrong here…

Mii-chan stared at Yuko.

“W-What’s wrong?” Yuko got self-conscious and hugged herself. “I know I’m cute and all but my heart only belongs to Nyan-Nyan! And if you’re going to try anything funny I think I need to warn you that I’ve been wrestling with Sayaka occasionally and am perfectly fine with self-defense!”

“Are you sure that you’re not Haruna and you somehow switched bodies with Yuko?” Mii-chan continued staring. “Because I am very sure that the term ‘player’ would be used to describe Yuko, not Haruna…”

What a coincidence! Just after I finished reading a shojō manga about switching bodies this happens… Haha, that story was – no wait! Focus Minegishi!

“Hey! I may touch other girls all the time, but I’m only devoted to Nyan-Nyan!” Yuko protested. “Why doesn’t anyone understand that...”

Mii-chan coughed.

“Okay fine, maybe all that touching and skin-ship might make it seem a little…” Yuko said guiltily. “But Nyan-Nyan… Nyan-Nyan!”

“Hey, hey, don’t cry!” Mii-chan panicked when big fat tears started rolling down Yuko’s face. “It’ll be okay!”

“No it won’t! I saw it the other day, at the park; Nyan-Nyan was having fun with some girl that looks like a chicken wing!” Yuko brawled. “They were smiling at each other and having fun and… and Nyan-Nyan’s going to dump me! She’s going to dump her squirrel for a chicken wing!”

Focus Minegishi! Mii-chan forced herself to stop thinking about chicken wings. Delicious honey glazed chicken wings- no stop! “Don’t worry, they’re probably just friends or something; besides, a squirrel is way cuter than a chicken wing!” What the heck am I saying?!

“Really?”

“Look, I’ll even go over to Block A and try to get some info for you, okay?”

“You’re the best Mii-chan!”

Minegishi Minami hurried out of the room to check if the cafeteria was selling chicken wings today.

----------

After finding out that the cafeteria was unfortunately not selling chicken wings, Mii-chan got herself a bunch of chips as consolation and she made her way to Block A.

Hey, Minegishi Minami kept her promises, even if she prioritized her lists of things to do slightly different from what was promised.

“Harunyan, I heard that – YOU!” Mii-chan seethed at the sight that greeted her.

“Ah, it’s the Gachapin.” Mariko said nonchalantly. “What are you doing here?”

“Mii-chan?” Looking up from her DS at the commotion, Haruna stopped short in surprise. “What happened to your hair?”

“Ask her.” Mii-chan glared at a smug Mariko.

“Mari-chan...”

Mariko start whistling while finding a certain spot on the ceiling so utterly fascinating.

“Mari-chan!”

“What?” Mariko said defensively. “She deserves it!”

“You don’t like long hair and cut her hair for her?” Haruna quickly moved away from Mariko, clutching her hair protectively and looking suspiciously at Mariko’s hands.

“Not that!” Mariko said in exasperation as she held her hands out to show that they were not holding any scissors. “I have nothing against long hair.”

Haruna didn’t look convinced, remembering how Mariko used to have long hair. “Then?”

Mariko mumbled something.

“You better speak properly else your precious Otama will hear about this…”

“Fine! It’s wasn’t my fault anyway!” Mariko pouted. “I… may or may not have accidentally pushed her and may or may not have accidentally set her hair on fire…”

At Haruna’s disapproving look, Mariko hastily added. “But that’s because she wanted to eat my curry! You know no one lays their hands on my curry without permission! Besides, what was that lighted candle doing there anyway!”

“Thanks to you, I had to get a haircut!”

“I did help put out the fire by dumping water on you!”

“You just wanted an excuse to dump water on me!”

“I think you look cute with short hair Mii-chan,” Haruna interrupted, trying to smooth things over. “You remind me of that person in the lunch pack commercial.”

“Really?” Mii-chan ran a hair through her short hair. “I saw Sasshi the other day and she said that too!”

“She said you look cute with short hair?”

“No, the lunch pack thing.” Mii-chan’s eyes narrowed. “Wait… are you sure you’re not saying that just to make me happy?”

“Of course not!” Haruna nudged Mariko. “Ask Mari-chan.”

“You… do really look cuter with short hair.” Mariko admitted reluctantly. “Wait, cuter means you were cute in the first place, which you aren’t! Wait, not that you aren’t cute now, but you were cute too before your haircut… I mean. Yeah.”

Mariko stopped when she realized just digging herself a deeper hole.

There was an embarrassment-filled silence in the room with Haruna looking back and forth from Mariko and Mii-chan in sudden understanding

“Did something happen between the two of you?”

“W-What? Of course not!” Mariko stammered. “Like, t-totally nothing happened! N-Nothing at all!”

“Are you sure…”

“I saw you at the park the other day Haruna,” Mii-chan lied, changing the subject. “Who’s your new friend?”

“New friend?” Mariko was interested. “You didn’t tell me anything about a park and a new friend…”

“We’re just friends!” Haruna insisted. “Rena-chan was just being nice…”

“Rena-chan?” Mii-chan was shocked. “You’re already on first name basis?!”

“Yeah,” Mariko chimed in. “A random stranger and suddenly becoming friends… that doesn’t sound like suspicious at all.”

“Well she was nice…” Haruna frowned in thought. “And I don’t know why, but she kinda reminds me of you, Mari-chan.”

“I knew it!” Mii-chan pointed a finger at Mariko accusingly. “It’s all your fault!”

“My fault, how is it my fault when I didn’t do anything?!”

Mii-chan thought of the wailing Yuko back in Block K. “How can you ever answer to Yuko if– well, if something happens?”

Something happens? What happens? Yuko? Mariko blinked, deciding to deflect the attention back to Haruna. “Yeah Nyaro, what about Yuu-P?”

Haruna’s face turned black at the mention of Yuko. “Don’t talk about that player!”

Wait… so who exactly is the player? Mii-chan was confused. “Nyan-Nyan… what if it’s all just some misunderstanding?”

“Misunderstanding?”

Mii-chan gulped and forced herself to stand her ground. You so owe me Oshima Yuko! If we weren’t friends and I didn’t ship KojiYuu… “Yeah, you know how Yuko is always friendly and all…”

“So?”

“So… erm…”

“Maybe you should be nicer to Yuu-P, Nyaro.” Mii-chan’s unlikely savior, Mariko came to the rescue and Haruna’s intense glare was directed at the tall girl instead.

“Nicer?!”

“Think about it,” Mariko’s poker face held. “I’m sure she wouldn’t throw away all the time and effort she spent trying to get you to agree just like that. Think of all the smacks she endured and is still enduring!”

“But I’ve been nice to her!”

“By hitting her at least once each time you meet?” Mariko wasn’t sure, but she thought she saw a flash of guilt before Haruna’s scowl came back in full force.

Haruna slammed her pencil case down on the table to show her displeasure but she didn’t say anything else.

The other two gulped.

Bonus – Consultation with Acchan

“Acchan!” Yuko wailed to a chewing Atsuko. “Acchan! Nyan-Nyan is going to dump me!”

Ignoring Yuko, Atsuko was instead thinking about how Tomochin would be transferring in after the school break while munching on a biscuit. Gah! Damn that no taste buds girl!

“She’s going to dump me for some chicken wing!”

“Chicken wing?” Atsuko looked up. “Where?”

“It’s some girl that I saw with Nyan-Nyan at the park!” Yuko didn’t notice that Atsuko hadn’t been listening. “Some pale girl who didn’t get hit even when she touched Nyan-Nyan!”

That’s because the places that you touch and the places that she touched are totally different! “Say, maybe you let loose a little.”

“Huh?”

“Well, you cling onto Nyan-Nyan almost all the time you see her…” Atsuko said each word slowly. “You should try putting some distance between the two of you. They do say that absence makes the heart fonder.”

Yuko was flabbergasted.

“Distance?! My dear Acchan, do you know what kind of event flag that would trigger?! That awful chicken wing is probably hiding in the shadows, waiting for me to relax before swooping in and stealing my Nyan-Nyan!!!”

Okayyy… Atsuko waited for Yuko to calm down. “Then maybe you should–”

“I need suggestions, constructive suggestions Acchan!”

Am I getting paid for this? I so should get paid for this… “Maybe you should try to be more lady-like.”

Yuko stopped to stare at Atsuko. “Lady-like?”

“Err…” Atsuko grasped at straws. “The… chicken wing was lady-like, wasn’t she?”

“Now that you mention it…” Yuko frowned. “You mean Nyan-Nyan prefers more lady-like girls?”

“I don’t know,” Atsuko shrugged. “Do I look like Nyan-Nyan?”

“But that girl was dangerous! Dangerous, I tell you!” Yuko muttered; more to herself since Atsuko wasn’t listening again. “I have to work harder to make sure Nyan-Nyan still choses me in the end!”

Nyan-Nyan still choses–?

“Wait…” Atsuko smiled creepily at Yuko. “What exactly do you mean by ‘Nyan-Nyan is going to dump me’, my dear best friend Yuko?”

First Day of School after the two week break

Urgh of all the days to when I have to see Akimoto-sensei this happens…

Takahashi Minami brisk walked into the school, passing by a dedicated Akimoto Sayaka who was handing out bananas at the school gate to the students as part of her Health Committee duties.

“Thanks for the banana Sayaka!”

“No worries; a banana a day keeps the doctor away!”

Minami had arrived a little later than she would have liked (courtesy of a faulty alarm clock) Going to the vending machines to get herself a packet of juice, she heard someone shouting.

“Yuko!!!! Get back here!”

Ah, Yuko must have done something to Nyan-Nyan again… Minami smiled as she glanced at her watch. It’s kinda early for all these though.

“OSHIMA YUKO!!! GET BACK HERE AND HAVE SKIN-SHIP WITH ME NOW!!!”

Minami choked on her juice as she watched a fleeing Yuko run away from Haruna.

“No Nyan-Nyan! While I'm happy that you're taking the initiative, we should save all these for after marriage!!!”

What?

Forcing herself to walk on, she passed by Kuramochi Asuka who had a certain genking in a camel clutch with Kashiwagi Yuki looking on.

“Come on Yukirin,” Mocchi let go of Sae. “You have a go!”

“M-Me?” Yuki pointed at herself in shock.

“I thought you wanted to learn some self-defense?” Mocchi said as she pushed Yuki forward. “There’s nothing like practical learning to give you a better feel!”

“But Sae-chan…”

“I specially borrowed Sae-chan from banana duty for this, you know…”

“Yeah!” Sae chimed in. “Don’t worry, I’m used to it; Sayaka, Yuko and I occasionally wrestle a bit.”

“Okay…” Yuki hesitantly mirrored Mocchi’s actions. “Like this?”

“No, with more force!” Mocchi instructed as she demonstrated it again. “Like this!”

A strangled cry, courtesy of one Miyazawa Sae, rang out.

Minami shivered as she walked away hastily, not wanting to be caught by Mocchi. That’s strange… I thought I just saw a stuffed alpaca sticking out of the bushes…

“My cafeteria!” The cafeteria lady suddenly appeared in Minami’s path, crying as she ran past the ribbon-lover.

Cafeteria?

Minami quickly gulped down the remainder of her juice and headed for the cafeteria. Opening the doors, she braced herself for a horrific sight. What could have caused the cafeteria lady to run out like–?

Upon seeing Atsuko and Tomochin in the cafeteria, Takahashi Minami wisely withdrew.

Spotting the AnRiRe trio nearby, she told them to keep other students away from the cafeteria and to not enter the cafeteria unless they had a death wish.

“Have the hospital on speed dial too,” Minami added on an afterthought before she rushed off, having made a little too many detours. Have to get to Akimoto-sensei’s office now!

Knocking on the door, she saw the soon-to-be principal of the 48G Academy smiling at her.

“Ah, you’re just in time Minami!” Aki-P gestured for her to take a seat. “Something important just came up that I have to discuss with you. You know how we are going to merge with the sister schools soon?”

At Minami’s nod, he continued. “The board of directors for each school will remain the same, although there will be another board formed for the entire 48G Academy. Similar to that, I am thinking of maintaining the current student councils in the schools but also forming another one that will take charge of the academy wide issues. And I want of put you in charge of that student council, what do you think?”

“Me? I’m honored, but Akimoto-sensei, I–”

“I’m sure that you will do a good job,” Aki-P waved away her protests. “Hmm… you’ll need a title too, something grand… how about ‘General Manager’?”

Doesn’t that sound like the job title of a member of the staff? Minami sweat dropped. I thought I’m still a student?!

“Ah yes, also do you still remember how we have certain students on an exchange program to our sister schools?”

“Yokoyama Yui is currently at NMB while Kitahara Rie is at SKE.” Minami recalled. “But Ichikawa Miori and Oba Mina are also being considered for the next batch.”

“And recently Nakagawa Haruka and Takajo Aki were sent to JKT High School in Jakarta...” Akimoto Yasushi paused.

“I went through the necessary details with them and saw them off at the airport and all that,” Minami was puzzled. “Did something happen?”

“Well… normally we’ll send members of the staff there to check on things after the students are a few weeks into the exchange program… however with the merger happening we currently have our hands full…”

“Can I do anything to help?” Minami asked, ever ready to help.

“I knew that I could count on you.” Aki-P smiled at her as he shuffled the papers on his desk together. “Treat it as a holiday of sorts, I’ve already asked your mother and she agreed, saying that you need a break.”

Huh?

“Holiday? What holiday?”

“Don’t worry, it’ll just be for a few days and there’ll be people to meet you at the airport and show you around, the only work that you’ll have to do there is maybe sit in on a few classes and meet up with Haruka and Aki to see how they’re doing. And I’m sure that your studies won’t suffer as the school is mostly preparing for the cultural festival.”

HUH????!!!

Next stop: JKT?

-END-

YUKO!!!!! DX
Sigh. I feel so sunk though I've been wanting her to take that next step. Plus tempted to like, do a proper translation of Yuko bits in Kojiharu's photobook instead of just reading and laughing. I have been saving more time for 48G stuff recently. But then I'd have to do the whole no3b and mariharu too (Aki-P going to be sad that no one is interested in his portion lol) and I can't seem to keep focused. Isn't there someone who is doing the no3b, mariharu or kojiyuu cross-talks? Or at least the mariharu or kojiyuu one? Somebody!

There's a fan project to get Heavy Rotation on youtube to 100 million views. The Heavy Rotation single too (as in buying the cd) but that's another matter. I saw it in the Japanese fandom, the Chinese fandom and I saw it on tumblr too, so please help out by watching Heavy Rotation on youtube whenever you remember to!

Hmm... Comedy MaYuki or Serious MaYuki??  :?

The Chronicles of a Wota - The Handshake Series

Kojima Haruna frowned.

She was in the bustling resting area for all 48G members taking part in the handshake, but even surrounded by so many people she still felt alone.

Being unused to socializing, she tended to feel out of place even when she was approached for a conversation. Everyone had their own cliques and she really felt the generation gap at times, unable to blend in amongst the newer members.

There were more and more unfamiliar faces each time; the ones whom she knew were leaving, one by one.

"Nyaro, let's take a picture!"

Shinoda Mariko had graduated.

"Nyan-Nyan daisuki!"

Oshima Yuko had graduated.

In the past, she had two loyal 'fans' that would be at her side and there always would be at least one of the two to accompany her if the other was busy.

Now?

"There's only Takamina left, huh?"

What did I do?!? I just walked past her, I swear!!!

Takahashi Minami, always getting wounded for no reason.

F = Fan
H = Haruna

F: Why are you looking so gloomy today? Missing Yuko-chan already?
H: I'm not! (бвб)
F: You obviously are!
H: Am not!
F: You are!
H: Am not! If you don't stop I'm going to get angry (бвб#)
F: An angry Nyan-Nyan is cute too~

Haruna sighed as the fan was pushed away by the OSJ48 personnel, the words that he had said repeating themselves over and over in her mind, but in the voice of a certain Oshima Yuko.

"An angry Nyan-Nyan is cute too~"

"Stupid Yuko," Haruna's eyes narrowed as she muttered under her breath. “Always saying stupid stuff like that.”

"You'll always be my Oshimen Kojima-san! I'll support you forever!"

Haruna felt her hands being gripped; while she was busy spacing out the next person had already entered.

Wait... There's something about that voice...

"Ah, why are you so gloomy today Kojima-san?"

"I already said so many times, I'm not- eh?"

Finally looking up, Haruna stared for a few seconds at the silly face that Yuko was making before bursting into laughter.

"That's better," Yuko smiled. "A gloomy or angry Kojima-san is cute, but if it's possible, I want to always see you laughing happily like that."

"Baka," Haruna blushed before she remembered where they were. "Wait, what are you doing here Yuu-chan?"

The recently graduated member puffed up in pride. “As Nyan-Nyan's eternal fan, I have to at least experience a handshake with my Oshi!”

"But… I can just shake your hand when we meet up or something."

"Non non non," She shook her head. "That's different! The sights! The sounds! The taste of victory that you get from having successfully balloted for a handshake slot!!!"

Ooookay... Haruna frowned. "You didn't bully some poor fans out of their tickets, did you?"

"How could you Nyan-Nyan," Yuko gasped dramatically and held a hand to her chest as if to grip her heart. "I went about this fair and square, I swear!" Though I might have had gotten a little inside help...

Flashback

Akimoto Yasushi frowned.

He had a bad feeling.

I must be overthinking things; my schedule for the rest of the week is being holed up in here reviewing lyrics… after… that happened…

His phone rang.

“Aki-P,Q, R, S, T, U, V~!!!”

“I’m glad to know that you’re practicing your English…” The producer sighed; knowing that he should have replied to one of the millions of messages that Yuko had spammed his phone with in the morning, interrupting his meeting and he had to keep up his appearance of being busy with the new stages instead of being hung-over due to over excess drinking at the dinner last night, damn it! “What is it…”

“Well… I was just wondering if you could help me…”

“With?” He felt a headache coming on…

“I want to attend a AKB handshake!” Yuko chirped cheerfully. “More specifically, Haruna’s!”

“Then go.”

He knew better than to ask why.

“But I want to make sure that I have some slots, I’ve heard that you can go away empty-handed despite applying for one member only…”

“Look,” He rubbed his temples. “If you apply in the first round you have a higher chance of winning since Haruna doesn’t sell out in the first round normally. And at least one bid should strike.”

“I wonder if I can buy up all her slots…”

Is she even listening?!  “You should call Shinobu or Togasaki, they’re in a better position to help you than I am.”

“Eh? But aren’t you Aki-P?”

I’m just the producer of the group! I write the lyrics! I don’t handle all the other stuff! Why do people always think I handle everything!

The melancholy of one Akimoto Yasushi, producer. People tended to misunderstand his job scope, even the ones who “worked”  (or used to work) under him.

“Do you need me to come over to discuss this? I’ve heard that applying for handshakes is serious business…”

Nope, definitely not listening...

End Flashback

Y: Wait, I don't want to waste my handshake time! Please say "Yuu-chan daisuki!" to me!
H: Ya. Da. (бвб)
Y: Kawaii (-∀-`) Then how about a flying kiss?
H: *Lets go of Yuko's hands and waves* Bye bye~
Y: But my time isn't up yet? *Starts being pushed* Wait, a wink! How about just a wink? Nyan Nyan!!!

Haruna hummed happily as the next fan came in.

F: Did the strange person before me do something weird?
H: Strange person?
F: Yeah, he or she was all acting all shifty while in the line so I was worried that he or she might have tried something; and I saw the reports on twitter that you haven't been in the best of moods today…
H: Nonsense! I’m very happy today!
F: *gulps* According to twitter Kojima-san was scolding those who said that she was gloomy…
H: *smiles* But thank you for worrying about me (бвб)

The stunned fan was pushed out and immediately uploaded a message on twitter.

[Kojima-san’s heavenly smile is a cure for all ills!!!]

Somewhere else in Japan

Akimoto Yasushi picked up his phone warily.

“Hello…?”

“Aki-P!!! You have to get me another ticket!!! Nyan-Nyan gave a fan a “heavenly” smile but she didn’t give me one!!!”

Can I change my phone number? I want to change my phone number…

Bonus:

Shinoda Mariko's eyelid twitched when she read the latest mail she received from one Oshima Yuko.

Nee Mari-chan, guess what! I just had a handshake with Nyan-Nyan~ An official handshake, at a handshake event~ (-∀-`)

Oh it is on you squirrel!

"When's the next AKB handshake event?!" Mariko fired at her poor manager. "Get me one, no at least two hours off on that day!"

Gah! My position as Nyaro's top wota is being threatened! Yuu-P has been nursing a grudge ever since I one-upped her during the Sousenkyo... Mariko grinded her teeth. This is dangerous!

Mariko soon got carried away with her handshake planning.

"Oh, since I'm attending the handshake then maybe I should try to ballot for Jurina's as well; ooh and Mayu too! Yuihan and Mii-chan to see how they're dealing with their captain duties..." Mariko got carried away. "According to a lot of fans Sayanee is the essential experience for a handshake newbie... Rena and Sasshi just for fun... And I want to see Yuki's kamitaiyou handshake... then I have to experience Paruru's salty one just for the contrast... Ooh and I have to apply for Milky and Dasu as well! To see who is the best tsurishi!"

"Erm... You know you can just invite them for a meal if you really want to see them so much..." Her manager tried to interject.

"There's a big difference!!!" Mariko said agitatedly. "I have to see them in the environment as idols! To experience meeting them as a fan and not as a friend!"

“I… see…” Her manager said weakly.

"Speaking of which, I keep having the feeling that I left out someone important..."

Takahashi Minami sneezed. "Why do I have the feeling that I was just insulted out of the blue?"

Bonus bonus:

Nee nee Tomochin, guess what! I just had a handshake with Nyan-Nyan~ (-∀-`)  If you don't hurry then you'll lose since Mariko will be the next one to appear at the handshake events!

Itano Tomomi's eyes stayed fixated on the words "you'll lose".

I guess no Disneyland trip on her next day off then… Her manager slowly inched away. I sense TomoRage in five, four, three, two, one...

“Oh, you have nice timing Atsuko; you've just received a new message on your phone.”

Akimoto Yasushi paused in the midst of reviewing the lyrics for a song.

He stared at his phone.

"Is it just me or did my phone just start emitting an aura of evil...?"

shiruba_rein: Greatness cannot be rushed... LOL just joking; I've been busy with an update that I owe for like, over a year (??) now and every time I am ready to post it the file just D:<  This is the fourth time I'm redoing it and I'm going to flip a table and declare it cursed it if it happens again. Well. Anyway... Haha, I have a lot of stories written out... In my head, that is. Especially for AUs, I already have the "Past" and "Future" bits so the part that gets written out is the begining of the "Present" but I already know the backstory and what's going to happen since it's all in my head. Just a matter of making the middle bits link to the backstory and moving toward the ending. And of course sometimes in boring situations and such I kinda think up the rest of the whole story so my mind just stamps a "DONE" on it and none of that ever gets written out "physically". Oops >____<

ChibiRine: Hahaha, so I'm the funny author now? I'm not suited for dramas, I'm too long-winded, like seriously long-winded, and the drama gets sucked out of everything and I also can't really resist writing in snarky bits at times soooo... funny author it is, I guess. Thanks!  :P

ptrd3009: I'm glad you found it funny, I've been worried about my sense of humor for a while. Recently it's been like this: someone tells a joke, everyone except me laughs and I'm just wondering "How is that funny?!". Either that or my sense of humor is becoming too "refined" *cough* more strange than refined though *cough*  XD

Serious MaYuki. Done, without sounding too weird. I hope. Gosh, this serious thingy is messing with my jam.

Based slightly off the AKBingo Danso episode.

The Flower Shop of Saitama

There was a flower shop in Saitama, whose fame spread through word of mouth.

What set the shop apart from the rest was not the quality of the flowers bought from there was, nor how hot the staff was (even though they were) but rather something else.

Something special.

“Go on!” Mion’s friend gave her an encouraging push. “No matter what relationship issues you have, be it with your family, friends or even romantic troubles; this shop is the place to go to!”

“Are you sure?” Mion looked doubtfully at the ordinary looking flower shop. It looks… really normal. How could it have prevented a divorce between the squabbling Kobayashi family next door?

“Come on,” Getting impatient, Komiharu took her hand and dragged her in. “We’ll be stuck here all day at this rate!”

“Welcome,” Mion found her jaw dropping as she stared at the florist strolling out from the back of the store, a rose in his hands.

“Mayu-kun!” Komiharu went up to him excitedly. “This is Mion-chan; I was telling you about her the other day, remember?”

“Ah Mion-chan,” Mion shyly took the rose that was offered to her as she blushed heavily. “I’m Watanabe Mayu, please call me Mayu. How may I help you today?”

“Your friend seems a little overwhelmed Komiharu-chan,” Mayu winked at Komiharu when Mion just kept opening and closing her mouth like a fish. “I would have given you a flower too, but that might get me into trouble with Kojima-kun.”

“Omigosh Kojima-kun!” Komiharu glanced at her watch. “I’m late!”

At Mayu’s raised eyebrow, she explained. “Kojima-kun managed to get tickets to the preview of Oshima Yuko’s latest movie; he’s so sweet, tickets to the previews of her movies are usually so difficult to get your hands on but he knows that she’s my favorite actress so he went through a lot to get those!”

“You better hurry along then,” Mayu said. “I’m sure that Kojima-kun doesn’t mind, but you also don’t want to keep him waiting, do you?”

“Yeah, I– wait!” Remembering something, Komiharu rummaged around in her bag. “I almost forgot; here! Thank you cookies for everyone’s help in resolving the issues between Kojima-kun and I!”

“Thank you; there’s no need for you to,” Smiling, Mayu accepted the decorated packages and placed them on the counter. “We’re glad to be of help, especially when your relationship still can be salvaged.”

“Well…” Komiharu paused for a moment to look back and forth from Mion to Mayu. She jumped forward and grasped Mion’s hands. “Sorry for ditching you here alone Mion-chan, I promise I’ll make it up to you later!”

“There’s no need to, I understand,” Mion smiled. She’s really different from her depressed state the week before… maybe this shop is something special after all… “Have fun with Kojima-kun!”

“Thanks,” Komiharu then turned her attention to Mayu. “Please take good care of Mion-chan, I’ll come after you guys if you don’t!”

“We will,” Mayu gently pushed Komiharu towards the door. “Now I believe that you have a date to go to…”

“Oh! Tell Kojima-san and Shimazaki-san that I said ‘Hi’!” Komiharu said before she dashed out, leaving the other two in silence.

“So…” Mayu led Mion to an area of the shop that was out from general view, giving Mion a warm and cosy feeling as she sat on one of the chairs that had been laid out there. Mayu brought over two cups of tea, smiling at her all the while. “Why don’t you start by telling me what’s wrong?”

“Paruru! I've bought the famous melon-pans from the bakery downtown for you,” Yokoyama Yuichi said cheerfully as he pushed the door of the flower shop open. “I had to queue up for quite a while for them, that's why I'm so late today!”

“Is there something on my face?” Noticing Haruka staring at him, Yuichi rubbed his face self-consciously before moving on to touch his blonde hair. “Or is it my hair?”

Nope; it’s totally amazing how you can ignore the murderous glare that Paruru is aiming at you… Haruna coughed lightly, trying to break up the tense atmosphere. “W-Wow, I’ve heard a lot about that bakery! Their melon-pans are really good and it’s difficult to get your hands on them since they only make a few hundred each day; apparently the melon-pans are all sold out within an hour despite them imposing a limit on how many a single person in the queue can buy.”

Haruka kept silent.

“It’s really nice of you to go to all the trouble to get those for Paruru, Yui-han!” Haruna forced a smile as she nervously toyed with a ring around her finger. Where the heck is Mayu?! He’s better in these sorts of situations with how awful he is at reading the atmosphere until something huge happens…

“What are you doing here?”

“Huh?”

“What are you doing here? Showing up every day?” Haruka grew more agitated. “Isn’t it bad enough that you’re always following me around in school, and now you have to stalk me after school as well?!”

“I… I just…” Yuichi looked at her earnestly. “I just want to help.”

“Help?”

“I know that it’s been tough for you after since–”

“Don’t EVER think that you can make up for what you did!” Haruka finally exploded. How dare he mention that! “If it wasn’t for you, he would still be around!”

“Woah,” Mayu finally returned from sending Mion to the bus-stop nearby, feeling as though he had stepped into a war zone. He stepped in between Yuichi and Haruka, forcing them to keep a distance from each other. “Calm down… what’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” Haruka threw Yuichi a final look before she turned and stalked off. “He was just leaving.”

"I think you should leave now Yui-han," Haruna sighed as she shook her head. "See you tomorrow."

"See you tomorrow Kojima-san, Watanabe-san," Smiling sadly, Yuichi nodded at the both of them before leaving. "I'll leave the melon-pans behind, feel free to help yourselves to them; I’ll come around the same time tomorrow."

"Well he's certainly persistent." Mayu commented after Yuichi left, knowing from past experience that asking about what had happened between Haruka and Yuichi wouldn't get him an answer. “But what's up with her? It’s the first time I’ve seen Paruru being so… emotional. Well, she’s always pissed when Yuichi shows up but he must have set her off this time.”

“A lot has happened…” Haruna said cryptically. “And that's between the two of them; we shouldn't interfere.”

When Mayu looked like he was about to say more, she continued. "Besides, you have your own things to worry about."

My own things to worry about? I don't have anything to w– That sparked off unhappy memories for Mayu and he bristled. "You're the one to talk."

"Me?"

"We saw you, you know." Mayu started, trying to force his mind to think about something else. "Paruru and I; while we were out delivering flowers the other day…"

-Flashback-

"Quit spacing out and help me with this, will you?" Mayu said, the hot weather souring his mood and he wanted to quickly finish delivering this final batch of flowers before going back into the respite of the air-conditioned flower store.

Haruka stared at him. “You’ve been acting weird ever since you got back from visiting the hospital last week.”

“W-What?” Mayu nearly dropped the flowers in his hands. “How do you know where I went?”

“Kojima-san told me when I asked why you were missing.”

Getting unnerved by Haruka’s unrelenting stare, Mayu hurriedly ducked back into the van to hide under the pretense of getting the rest of the flowers out.

“Come on, let’s just finish this and get back to the shop.”

"Hey..." Ignoring Mayu’s comment about working, Haruka then pointed out. "Isn't that Kojima-san over there?"

"Huh?" Mayu turned his head in the direction she had pointed out in, spotting Haruna. "She dumped this on us to go dating?!"

Might as well... He rubbed his head, recalling how he had gotten hit for teasing her about her lack of a love life. She ain't getting any younger.

Haruka spoke up after a while. “Don't you think it's weird though?”

"What's weird?" Mayu asked, struggling with the last pot.

"It's such a hot day but her date... he's all bundled up."

"Now that you mention it..." Mayu finally got everything in and he stared at the small frame of the person beside Haruna, wearing bulky clothing, complete with a cap, sunglasses and mask.

His eyes narrowed. That is overkill. Suspicious…

Mayu turned to look at Haruka. "Follow them?"

Haruka nodded.

"See you soon?"

"Soon," Haruna agreed before she instinctively dodged when an attempt to kiss her was made.

“No goodbye kiss?”

“No goodbye kiss.”

What the heck is that guy doing?! Making moves on Haruna-neechan like that in board daylight! Mayu growled from his vantage point from behind the wall. Actually even daring to do stuff like that! Then blushing and acting all shy like he had plucked up all of his courage to try for a kiss! "I knew he was up to no good the moment he ditched the mask, that bastard..."

"I have to go now, I promised Mayu and Paruru that I'll be at the shop by three."

Mayu and Haruka watched as they exchanged a few more words before the guy flagged a cab down for Haruna before gallantly opening the door and ushering her in; going over to the driver’s window to shove a bunch of bills that, from what Mayu saw, would definitely cover the cost of the cab ride and more, into the driver's hands before he waved the cab off.

"He seems kinda decent." Mayu grudgingly admitted. "Kinda, as in the loosest possible sense."

"Something's up, guys are never this simple." Haruka said when she noticed Haruna's date start to walk off. "Especially when he has flashy blonde hair… Let's follow him."

You think Haruna-neechan’s date is suspicious just because he has blonde hair?! Mayu stared at her. Do you have some sort of grudge against guys with blonde hair?!

“What are you spacing out for? He’s getting away!”

The two of them trailed him for a few more streets before Haruna's date stopped and looked around suspiciously before drawing out a phone and dialing someone. Shortly after speaking into the phone and ending the call, her date stuck a hand down the pocket of his jeans and drew out a ring that he quickly wore.

Mayu gasped at the sunlight glinting off the band of metal and looked at Haruka for confirmation. "Isn't that a wedding ring?"

Haruka had a 'I told you so' look on her face.

"Sorry I'm late!" A car drew up on the road next him and a woman got out, apologizing. "Let's go?"

The two of them then watch as Haruna's date left in the car with the woman, though not before hugging her and greeting the woman with a kiss to her cheek.

Mayu's jaw dropped.

"That two-timing married son of a!"

-End Flashback-

"Married."

Haruna was confused. "Huh? What married?"

"Married." Mayu repeated, not know what else to say. "You and that b– guy! Married!"

“You know?!”

“I saw everything! What are you doing when he’s ma–!" Suddenly deflating, Mayu sighed and shook his head. “I know that it’s none of my business and I’m sorry for bringing it up; but I hope that you know what you're doing.”

Haruna sighed. "We're-I know how to handle it; don't bother yourself too much over it. I know that this isn’t a good period for you right now."

The two of them stood in silence for a while before Haruna realized the irony. She snorted. "Look at us, the people behind the famous flower shop in Saitama that solves all your relationship issues! We all can't even handle our own problems; me, you, and Paruru...”

Yukirin... Mayu's eyes landed on the thank you cookies that Komiharu had baked and he summed up what the both of them were thinking at the moment. "Why and how the heck are we giving out effective relationship advice when our own are all so effed up?"

A few days later

"Onii-chan!" A pair of hands landed over his eyes. "Guess who~"

"Well... there's only one person who calls me 'Onii-chan'..." Mayu said dryly. "Is it Miki-chan?"

He heard a loud gasp and felt his cheeks being kneaded. "Who’s Miki-chan?”

“Oww! I’m joking, I’m joking; I know it’s you Milky!” Mayu fought to get out of Miyuki’s grasp, wincing as he touched his cheeks gingerly. Her boyfriend must be teaching her some moves. “What are you doing here?”

"To see you of course!" Miyuki beamed. "Hi Paruru-san!"

“... Hi.”

"Where's Haruna-neechan?" Miyuki craned her neck. "I don't see her."

"She's out in the back," Mayu followed Miyuki as she made her way towards the back of the store. "I don't think you're here just to see me Watanabe Miyuki; why exactly are you here?"

Miyuki froze.

"What's wrong?"

“Well…” Miyuki fidgeted, knowing that she should get this quickly over and done with. "Otou-san... he wants to have a family dinner this Friday..."

“Family… dinner?” Mayu repeated dumbly, stunned. That… that means…

“What for?” Haruna came up to them, pulling off soil stained gloves. “No offense, but your old man isn’t that simple to ask for just a ‘family dinner’.”

Miyuki kept close watch on Mayu. “He says that it’s to celebrate Yukirin-san getting out of the hospital.”

“She always goes in and out of the hospital…” Mayu muttered under his breath. Especially… after that happened…

“Onii-chan! That’s mean; I sure that Yukirin-san doesn’t want to fall ill all the time! You know that she’s been weak ever since she had a–”

“Just go and suffer through it, he won’t bother you again for months afterwards,” Haruna quickly cut in to avoid an ugly situation; she patted Mayu on the back, trying to get him to look on the bright side. “You know what happens if you don’t show up… Just… endure. Try to.”

“Endure?” Mayu scoffed as he resisted the urge to hit something. That’s easier said than done…

Friday

Mayu ate as quickly as he could without it being too obvious, eager to get away from this farce of a family dinner.

Family dinner? He laughed self-deprecatingly. I haven’t had a ‘family dinner’ in ages… Not ever since Okaa-san passed away…

"How have you been doing Mayu?"

Mayu froze at the question directed towards him.

"I've been doing well."

"I heard that you've been helping out at Haruna's flower shop?"

"Yes."

"Is she working you too hard?"

"Mou, Haruna-neechan is a nice person papa!" Miyuki interjected. “Quit trying to make her sound like some bad guy.”

"You wouldn't say that if you've seen her in action back when she was still in the business world." Watanabe Masahiro said. "I wonder what made her change her mind and decide leave the family business to Ryo, running back to Saitama to open a flower shop instead."

"As long as Kojiharu-san is happy," Yuki finally spoke up. "Besides, I heard that the flower shop is doing quite well and is really popular... Isn't that right, Mayu-kun?"

Yukirin... Mayu closed his eyes and forced the tears that threatened to form back down. It's not fair, after so long all she has to do is to just say my name and I-

"Mayu?"

Swallowing the lump in his throat, Mayu finally allowed himself to look at Yuki.

She looks well.

The last time he had seen her, she had been lying unconscious on a hospital bed, looking so frail and close to death. He had been so hurt and angry before but seeing her look so small on that cold white bed had broken something within him, most of the anger bleeding away and leaving him a mess wherever Yuki was concerned.

"Are you alright Mayu?"

"I'm fine," Mayu gripped his fork tightly, trying to avert his eyes from where Masahiro's free hand was resting on Yuki's. "I was just thinking about where to start."

"Where to start?"

Fortunately, Miyuki came to his rescue as she started chatting excitedly. "Ooh ooh! I know! For some reason, people think that the flower shop is really lucky and if you have any relationship issues..."

Mayu tuned out the rest of the conversation as he mechanically ate his food.

Cut it up with his knife, pick it up with his fork, put it in his mouth, chew, swallow; rinse and repeat while praying that this would end quickly without more conversation tossed his way.

Don’t look up, don’t look up... He chanted mentally, knowing that her eyes were on him; he always could sense it whenever she was looking at him and he had to suppress the urge to look at her. You’ll be just fine Mayu, you’ll be just fine…

“Can I speak to you in my study Mayu?”

“Sure,” Mayu got up from his seat and followed his father into the study, ignoring the look of concern that Yuki shot at the both of them.

“Have a seat,” Masahiro went to the sideboard and took out a bottle of brandy. “Want a drink?”

“Just a glass,” Mayu had his suspicions about what the older man was going to talk about. I’m definitely going to need a drink…

“I’m going to cut to the chase here,” Masahiro started after the two of them had a brief staring contest. “I know that you’ve been… unhappy about my decision to remarry after your mother passed away; but you shouldn’t take it out on Yuki, if you want to blame someone then blame me.”

Mayu remain silent.

“You should come back more often, at least so that you don’t give the wrong impression,” Masahiro said.  “You suddenly disappeared one day and the next thing I know, your cousin took you in and you’re working at her flower shop. You, working at a flower shop!”

“I enjoy what I’m currently doing,” Mayu gripped his glass tightly. “I was always helping out Okaa-san in her garden.”

Masahiro stiffened at the mention of his deceased wife. “Your mother wouldn’t be happy knowing that you’re like this.”

“Are you so sure?”

Masahiro sighed, knowing how stubborn Mayu could be. “Then let me ask you for a favor. Yuki’s health hasn’t been that wonderful of late and she sulks about being bored and also about how I don’t let her leave the house; if you would come back and help at the office for a while I’ll be able to keep her company.”

“I’ll see what I can do.” Mayu squeezed out through gritted teeth. “No promises though.”

Masahiro stared at the differences between the two family photographs on his desk; he knew that Mayu was just as stubborn as he was. “I know that you’re unwilling to take over the business or even have anything to do with it; you’ve at least shown that much… but at least try to visit Yuki more often then? For me?”

Masahiro didn’t notice Mayu tensing up as he continued. “The two of you were very close when you were younger, I know that with how things are right now… it can be awkward but I’m sure that she’ll be happy if you spend some time with her, it’ll be beneficial for her health as well if she’s in good spirits.”

By now, Mayu was gripping the glass so tightly that his knuckles had turned white. Don’t say it, don’t say it!

“You know that she never did quite recover from her miscarriage…”

They were so happy.

Mayu held the photo album in his hands gingerly, looking down at the family photograph that had been taken years ago, before everything started changing. “Okaa-san…”

He flipped through the pages quickly, pausing at a photograph of him and Yuki in elementary school.

She had been so kind to him when they had first moved in to the house next door, taking care of him and even standing up for him when he had been picked on; as the years went by that had never changed and he thought that what the two of them had was special.

He thought.

It was all just his overactive imagination.

“Mamarin~” He used to called her that, jokingly since she was always fussing over him like a mother over her child, making sure that he was alright.

And now?

She was really Mamarin.

My stepmother.

“Mayu?”

He looked up from where he had been staring at the photograph, sighing as he closed the photo album. “What are you doing here?”

“To see you.” Yuki looked around nervously before relaxing a little as she locked the door behind her.

Mayu tossed the photo album to the seat and jumped to his feet. “Are you so scared to be seen with me?”

Hearing his confrontational tone, Yuki sighed. “Don’t, Mayu. Don’t.”

“There’s no need for you to pretend,” Getting worked up, Mayu slowly backed her into the opposite corner as he continued to speak. “You’re here to laugh at me, aren’t you? To laugh at how stupid I was?”

“It’s not what you think Mayu…”

“Then what? How else am I supposed to think? One day you and I were–” Mayu clenched his fists and he forced himself to take deep breaths and calm down. “Then the next day you and my father were married! You’re my stepmother, Yukirin… tell me how am I supposed to think?!”

“I know how this looks like Mayu, but I can explain–”

“Explain what?” Mayu wasn’t backing down, the feelings that he had kept bottled up for so long spilled out. “Explain how you got close to me in order to seduce my father into marrying you so that you could get a cut of the Watanabe fortune?!”

Yuki finally lost her temper and slapped Mayu. “Will you just shut up and listen?!”

I must be going crazy, she just slapped me and all I can think is how I want to kiss her… Mayu stared at Yuki.

"You-!" He gave in to his inhibitions and kissed her, pinning her against the wall with his body.

Yuki resisted for a bit at first before she too, gave in, her hands going to encircle his neck as Mayu pulled her closer to him.

As their kiss grew more passionate, Mayu’s hands started roaming her body.

His mind wandered and he imagined other hands, older hands replacing his and he suddenly broke off the kiss.

Are you stupid, of course he touched her before! How else would she end up in the hospital because of a miscarriage?!

"Mayu?"

"You disgust me, do you know that?" Pushing her away roughly, Mayu said it with as much loathing as he could muster while trying to banish the mental images from his mind. I must be going crazy…

Startled by his sudden change, Yuki tried to reach out to him. "Mayu-"

"Don't!" Mayu shouted before his voice dropped to a whisper, looking vulnerable. "I don’t mind, you know? I don’t mind even if you got close to me with my inheritance in mind… but aren’t I good enough? Why did you choose him?”

Yuki simply hugged him in response and Mayu allowed her to; allowing himself to give in to his weakness for a while as he savored the warmth that he missed.

Until the mental images of Yuki and his father together started assaulting his mind again.

“Don’t!” Mayu pushed her away again. “Not when... not when you and him..."

"Wait, I can explain," Yuki panicked when she saw him slowly backing away. "MAYU!"

As Mayu ran out of the room, he didn't see Masahiro standing quietly at the opposite end of the hallway, watching him.

I feel so sorry for Mayu after all that happened, with his childhood friend betraying him, marrying his father and then having a miscarriage... At the same time, I feel sorry for Yukirin, her stepson being her childhood friend and all, being ill and not recovering from a miscarriage.... I feel shocked when Mayu's yelling at her and all....
