There hasn't been a lot of Shokotan discussion on here lately but here's some big news  :w00t:

Shokotan is releasing a new album called "Magic Time" on 2009/01/01!!

No tracklist or covers yet ><
The DVD will include the music video for "fuyu no yuuenchi" (Winter Amusement Park) and choreography lesson footage according to CDjapan.

Also...

They're releasing Donyoku Matsuri Concert Tour 2008 on BLURAY on the same day as the album release!
I can't wait to see it in full HD ><
The quality of the DVD version is already very good when upconverted on an HDTV so the Bluray version will be even better.  :w00t: :w00t:

did someone catch and record kirei a la mode matsuri on SMOJ?
i missed the first half of it because i was confused what time it started at ><

No sorry, I didn't know when it was on.

If you still have the SMOJ video you said you'd upload I'd like to download it though :)

I thought there might be another album around Christmas because of the large number of singles beforehand.  Shiny Gate was the best song among the latest singles in my opinion.  The video for Kirei a la Mode was quite good, though I think it could have had a little more variety than her just standing or sitting in that armchair.  Hopefully we'll still see more of the fun Shokotan in videos again like we did in the Shiny Gate video.  The third track on the single wasn't bad but the main track was obviously the best one.

Winter Amusement Park is likely to be a single then, sounds a fun theme and lots of potential for a video.

edit: probably will have a bit of a christmassy feel to the video I guess, although it's released in the New Year.

I forgot to preorder it on Amazon.co.jp and it looks like they're sold out ><

Going to preorder Magic Time and Donyoku Matsuri Concert Tour 2008 Bluray now before I forget too :(

It looks like Shoko has been hoarding copies of the photobook, so you'll have to blame her.

Thanks for that upload.

Audio samples for her new album are out (including a sample of a new promotional video)...

http://www.nakagawashoko.com/disco/index.html

Also has the cover images.

CD

CD/DVD

Track 5  a pop sounding mid-tempo song and track 9 a sad sounding ballad (which also has a video) sound like the best of the new songs.

My internet explorer is acting up and Firefox can't listen to the previews so I can only hear the previews on the main page =(

From the previews so far,
- fuyu no yuuenchi (winter amusement park) sounds like another good ballad, hopefully the PV is something memorable too (I loved snow tears, #1 favorite song from Shokotan)
(i just noticed i mispelled the romaji for fuyu no yuuenchi in my previous post about the track list oops ><)

- shabetto iro no jikan (sherbert color time??) sounds like another cool upbeat song
- Ivy sounds cool and upbeat too but not as much as shabetto iro no jikan does so far
- Spiral sounds a little too generic and doesn't really stand out for a rock song

it's only previews so far so hopefully it will be even better
i didn't really like the previews for kirei a la mode at first until i heard the full song itself

edit: not sure if this is the same video on the discography page but i found a short (1:40 min) preview of fuyu no yuuenchi here with a small clip of the "making of" video ->> http://www.winternet.jp/tv/  (scroll down to the Fuyu no Yuuenchi video)

it looks like a really sad ballad song with memories of happy moments =(
i really can't wait for Magic Time now just to hear this song entirely and see the full lyrics
hopefully the full PV gets shown soon ><

did anyone catch (and get a recording) of Shokotan's studio performances for kirei a la mode?

I completely missed it on gekkan Melodix a while ago ><
I didn't even realize she was on there until someone told me.

I guess you've seen the performances of Kirei a la Mode on YouTube...my favourite is this (colourful setting, Shoko looks lovely at the end).....

I might actually prefer that to the promotional video for it.

The Winter Amusement Park song is obviously more of an emphasis on the winter than on the amusement park side, she wanders around what seems a deserted fun fair.  It's given a kind of informal feel by the suggestion that she is filming it or taking photos with the shaky camera movements.  The video isn't all sad though as she is jumping around and smiling in it too.  The ballad sounds quite nice, maybe the second part of the verse might be the weaker part.  But it sounds pleasant like Kirei a la Mode, if not as great perhaps as Snow Tears.

Ivy doesn't sound too bad although it is probably weaker than a similar song like Pretty Please Chocolate on Top.

The video for Fuyu no Yuuenchi looks like she's reminiscing about something and the happy parts are all past memories. It looks like it could be a really epic music video after seeing the small preview of it.  I'm honestly really looking forward to it, the video for Tsuzuku Sekai was a little weird and didn't go well with the song and the video for Kirei A La Mode was a little boring (but it kind of fits with the song).  The music video for Shiny GATE was awesome ><

The YouTube video you posted was performed on Utaban.  It's pretty cool because they made the whole set just for that song.  I think the last time she appeared on Utaban was for snow tears and the set for it was very similar.
She performed Kirei A La Mode on kiyoshi to kono yoru too and she sang Sweet Memories as a duet with Kiyoshi Hikawa at the end. (Shokotan should release a Seiko cover album lol ><)
I'm still looking for that performance on Melodix, I think the last time she was on that show was when she performed Strawberry Melody a long time ago (unless I missed something in between).

EDIT: After watching that Utaban performance again on YouTube, I ended up finding the MelodiX performance on there too. (Last place I would have checked lol)

YouTube quality :(
Oh well, it's better than never seeing it ><
Looks like another awesome and stylized performance from Shokotan for Kirei A La Mode.
The ones for Tsuzuku Sekai got a little bland when she wore the same feather costume in EVERY studio performance.
The set and camera angles were very similar to the performance of Strawberry Melody on MelodiX too (especially the close up to Shokotan's face).
If anyone can upload a better quality, I'd be very grateful ><

I'm not sure when they put this up but it looks like the concert tour from March 25th to May 5th has a name now ><

I thought they would stick with calling it Donyoku Matsuri since that was what the first two concerts were called.
Shokotan had another mini concert tour a few months ago called Gakuen Matsuri so it would have made more sense if they stuck to that idea.  I guess the new name does fit in with the name of her new album "Magic Time".

Tickets aren't actually on sale yet
There's going to be a lottery on Dec 15th to be able to buy them ><

Worldwide I thought it was quite normal to name tours after the albums they promote, so I don't think it's that surprising.  I don't really know why they didn't call the previous tour 'Big Bang'.

Just thought it was going to be one of those interesting names Shokotan came up with since the first concert was also called Donyoku Matsuri.  They can name concert tours anything though so it doesn't really matter.  Shokotan's last concert tour was called Gakuen Matsuri though it's not as grand scaled as the Donyoku Matsuri concert tour.

The lottery for buying tickets for the concert tour is today too ><.  Like I said back during AX, I'm definitely going to go ><.  I'm honestly hoping to score 1 ticket for each of the 13 concerts but will still go even if for 1 concert.
I'm starting to be crazy hardcore now :(

Also did anyone see the PV for Fuen no Yuuenchi?
Another sweet ballad song though I still love snow tears more still :)

For anyone that hasn't seen it, someone uploaded it here
