Just finished with Elfen Lied. One of the darkest animes I've seen, it really pulls no punches. Blood, gore, nudity, infant murders, paedophilia, it felt like too much at times. But still, it's expertly paced with good characters and there is enjoyment in watching it, if you can handle it.

Watched Voices Of A Distant Star. Heartbreaking! I like the idea that technology like text messages, are created to seemingly bring people closer together, but could actually make them drift further apart. Story really tugs at the heartstrings and the artwork is incredible. Especially when you find out that it was created, animated, and produced all by a single person on a Macintosh.

Thoroughly recommended.

Finished watching GTO. now watching Gintama as we speak... also searching for subbed eps of Gintama online, i believe it up to 70+ episode but i'm on 35...

Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni.

I've been watching this anime for almost a year . . it always seems like something is interrupting me in finishing the series. It used to be because my Youtube didn't work, and now it's because someone didn't upload a part of episode 25. I'm so close too . . x_x

Other than that, REALLY good anime.

Anime Network here in the UK is extending their air time to feature new shows during the weekend and even host repeats during the rest of the week. So starting from tonight, as well as continuing with Evangelion and Guyver they'll be showing:

- Azumanga Daioh
- Pani Poni Dash
- This Ugly Yet Beautiful World
- Kurau Phantom Memory
- Jinki : Extend
- Innocent Venus

Have no idea what any of them are like. A new anime channel is starting this week as well but I can't possibly remember the whole line up. I only remember a few shows like Wolf's Rain, Ghost In The Shell, Excel Saga. Again, have no idea what they're like. Christ I'm gonna be very busy!

But I think it's good that at last, the UK is getting decent anime exposure. Anyone have any recommendations on which series to look out for?

Pani Poni Dash is pretty cool. It's like Azumanga but crazier (in a good way)

I haven't finished it though but it's just because I'm waaaay too lazy >_>;

Just thought I'd do some quick reviews of the shows I've seen. Remember this will be based off the first episode of each series:

Azumanga Daioh - Very funny! I really felt for Chiyo when she was brought in front of the teacher for not doing her homework

And the cat suddenly biting Sakaki

Pani Poni Dash - Think Azumanga but on speed

Bright colours and crazy jokes flying thick and fast. Characters are all berserk too, Rebecca, her depressed pet bunny, the aliens looking over her because she may or may not save the world, and my personal favourite, the cat living in a vending machine who says he's God

This Ugly Yet Beautiful World - Surprised me. At first I thought, oh it's yet another shy guy meeting girl who fell from the stars. But it gets more interesting than that. For one, the girl looks exactly like the guy's vision of a perfect girl. Second of all, a large gigantic alien comes to attack the girl, and out of desperation the boy transforms into an ass kicking demon, that is borderline cruel and sadistic. The end of the episode shows the dream girl, Hikari, isn't as sweet as she makes out to be either. Hope this keeps up.

Kurau Phantom Memory - Really liked this one. Very nice visuals/music and it's got ghosts, guns and mech action with a nice blend of drama.

Jinki : Extend - Didn't like this. Simple mech vs aliens plot with teenage girl holding some kind of power that mystery organisations want. Done before and the action wasn't quite engaging enough. Yawn.

Innocent Venus - Another case of special teenage girl on the run but this time the action was well done. One scene in particular looked like a Bourne movie if it was done in anime. Anyway, only downside is that there were too many questions already posed and not enough answers e.g. a long scene involving a group of armed terrorists party crashed in order to take somebody with no explanation as to who these people were, or what they were doing. But at least I'm interested to know how it will unfold.

Planetes - Soooooo good already. From what it looks like, it follows a group of people having to collect junk from space. That's it. But it has lovely animation and the characters are really well done with some drama and humour thrown in.

What Anime Central is showing at the minute is Transformers Headmasters, Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemsit, GITS:SAC, Planetes and Vision of Escaflowne. Definately intend to see Fullmetal Alchemist.

Usually I really cannot stand anime whatsoever. For some reason I decided to try a few out today though and I've just finished watching the first episode of Deathnote and I have to say it was damn good, hope it stays good throughout...

Actually just finished watching tenjou Tenge. the fight scenes and overall actions were good. the storyline is kinda way out there for me. but nice. it's seems the manga has continue on more than the anime did. so i either have to find the manga with english translation somewhere or just forget about it. although i do hope maybe they'll continue with the anime, but that's a small chance...
