Well, Namie is divorced AND a single mom, but with all due respects to her and her career, she's not doing as well as she did in her prime.  Despite that, Utada and Amuro are bad examples to compare with Yaguchi because the former aren't "idols" in the same sense that Yaguchi and the other MM members are.  I think their fanbase are a bit more mature and more diverse age wise, so I don't think that you'd see too many complaints in regards to them having relationships at this point.

The MM girls on the otherhand still have to cater to the fantasy that they are single, pure, and waiting for the right fanboy to sweep them off their feet.  Granted, I seriously don't believe that all - or even MOST - MM fans in Japan still think this way, but I believe that the media over there does and could turn this into a nasty campaign against H!P if they wanted.

Overall, I think Yaguchi made the right decision, I just question the timing because of how out of the blue it really is.  If we are to go by the belief that these photos in "Friday" aren't the only reason she decided to quit, then somebody out there in Japan must have had more information that has yet to be revealed.  If that info is a pregnancy, marriage, or just something more personal, then she and UFA made the right decision.

The pictures were taken on the 10th.  She was Friday'd, that is, the magazine hit newsstands on the 15th.  It wouldn't make much sense for a magazine called Friday to come out on a Monday.

I hope Mari would appear and talk about it later when time is right, or when she feels comfortable to. To just quit her group without proper farewell.....is devastating to her fans.

I refuse to accept what UFW wants us to believe, thus I have convinced myself there's conspiracy behind this and I will never know the truth. However, she was a precious member of this group, I just feel she deserves a better treatment than... this. Not that I think this is not partly her decision, though.

All this event will do for H!P is distract Rika's grad concert with scandal and question.  I don't want to think that it was a selfish decision for Yaguchi to make with said grad concert coming up in less than a month, but I guess the Friday guys pushed her over the edge.  Seriously, this is some bad ass timing.

I think I'll wait for my copy to get here before I start, but it looks like something I could do.  I was thinking about how I'd do it if I wanted to translate [Oira], but I think I'd want a partner.  Thanks for the scans, though, Deviruchi. *saves*

I would think the same as you if it weren't for Mitch Hedberg's recent death.  Celebrities have fans, and the best celebrities care about their fans.  Mari can fuck who she likes if she can do it without getting caught.

Fuck that's right, we haven't really considered how this is gonna affect Yossi.  At least with Yuuko and Kaori's grads, their successors had time to prepare themselves for the responsibilities of being leader.  But Yossi is getting thrown in cold turkey.  Yossi now has to be the main spokesperson for MM in interviews and what not.  I hope that in upcoming interviews they don't bombard the girls (and Yossi in particular) with questions asking their opinions on Mari's actions.  There's no need to prolong what's obviously a traumatic few days for them.
