Prologue

War brought torture to the world.

The lone peaceful land was in the middle of the largest water mass.

Ships were quickly approaching it before a wave crashed into them.

For four hundred years, it had happened until one ship had arrived on the western shores.

“We have finally arrived.”

The bright-eyes woman gleamed at the image of the paradise.

“Do you know what this place is called?”

“On the map this is called Kamikaze Island.”

“Of all the names why is it called that?”

“Tomomi… the legend of the last princess living on this island set forth a powerful wind that have driven ships away for hundreds of years.”

“Yet we have arrived here.”

“Never mind that.  Let’s explore!”

“Okay, Yuko.”

Yuko was a curious type that would search for anything to remind her of her childhood or at least what she had expected as a childhood.

She was the all-around person that people admired but living in an orphanage the people refused to give her up until she was twenty.

Yuko saw the pain of the world and decided to live as a pirate.

She had sailed to all the ports within the continent but the islands outside of her realm were difficult to obtain without a mate.

Then, she met Itano Tomomi.

Tomomi had a similar background to Yuko except for being a pirate.

She was a merchant along the coastline when a ship had pulled into dock.

Growing curious of the ships, she had run from her stall to the boat.

Tomomi noticed that it wasn’t a fishing boat and the fact that it was a woman leading the ship.

Yuko saw the woman on dock staring up at her.

“Ahoy!  Can I pull up here?”

“Sure…”

Yuko guided into the stall and leapt off the boat onto the dock.

“Thanks!  I have four hundred gold pieces.  May I stock up on items?”

Tomomi returned to her stall and allowed the pirate to gather whatever she needed.

Once Yuko had stocked up on everything, she headed back to the boat with Tomomi following her.

“Can you take me?”

“Why?”

Tomomi bit on her lip before explaining the situation she was in and she understood but it seemed too dangerous in daylight.

Night had fallen and she was looking up at the stars when the boat started to rock.

“It is me!”

The whisper broke her concentration and she unwound the rope to sail off the dock.

The whole night they kept quiet once they left the harbor.

The next morning the attire caught the pirate’s eye.

It was a pearl white dress with pearls lined around her waist.

“I didn’t kidnap you.”

“It was the only way out of the house.”

Yuko thought about it and saw a small bag near her feet.

“Find a shirt and shorts.”

She dug through it to find a torn up shirt and tattered shorts.

Yuko saw her undress and handed her an oar to paddle.

“Why did you want to leave?”

“The war has come into my town.  I don’t want to see people killed.”

“I see.”

The trip took one moon cycle with very little food and water left in the boat.

They saw a waterfall and rushed over to run the clean water over them.

Behind the waterfall, Yuko saw the cave and entered with the smell of moss filling their noses.

The duo felt the wall come to an end and the collapse of the ground below.

One

“Are… you okay?”

“Yuko, what was that about?”

I hadn’t known what had happened but we were still in a dark place.

The smell of the swamp filled my nose until I saw a light in front of us.

As we approached the light, skeletons filled the ground.

Itano trailed me picking up a whip and coiled it around her hand.

I searched for something more rigid and play close up.

I found chain mail and a curved sword to the side.

The musk of blood was on it but I placed it over my body.

“It sounds like men.”

“Let’s see how much they know before we attack them.”

I stood out in the open with my sword tucked into belt.

“Can you tell us where we are?”

Two

They drew their swords placing a mask over their faces before attacking.

There wasn’t room to maneuver around but I managed to slice through some bodies.

We rushed right through them until one was left standing.

“Please spare me.”

“Tell us where we are!”

“You guys are on Daema Island .”

“Daema?”

“This is the kingdom of Kamejima.”

It rung into my head about the legend and I stuck my sword out to his throat.

“I need your mask and pants.”

He gave it up quickly begging for mercy.

We headed out into a jungle with no clear path.

“Do I look like a soldier?”

“Close enough.”

Three

I had a plan to first use Itano as a prisoner but the accent was slightly different luckily for studying methodically.

However, the thick jungle brought out battles with snakes and hogs.

We hacked them right through into the city below us.

Itano handed me vine to wrap her wrists together.

We glanced to our right to a path into the city and crossed the jungle to a main standing with a spear.

“Seems like a prisoner.  A cute one.”

“Sorry this has to be reported to the king.”  I said in the scruffiest of voices.

“Come on!  Let’s have fun with her!”

“Sorry!  Maybe next time.”

“The royal guard always has the most fun.”

I tugged Itano along the road down into the city feeling the mist on my skin.

Four

Tomomi gritted her teeth as I started to drag her more forcibly with the townspeople cheering me on.

We entered the castle situated near the coastline to the dungeon below.

I dropped her off before heading into the throne room.

The room was surrounded by the jewels before I saw the king welcome me with his wide smile.

“Thank you for bringing in an intruder to my castle.”

“Your honor, thank you for your leadership.”

The king stood up and walked up to me.

“Your tone is slightly awkward.”

“Sir, I’m a visitor from the mountains.”

“Hmm I see.”

“My prisoner has told me that there is a greater danger coming.”

“I see.”

Five

It will take down the civilization of our people if we don’t save it.

“The prisoner’s foretelling is rubbish.”

“I wouldn’t say it is rubbish as of now.”

A black-hooded person came up from the room and stopped by the king.

“Oh wise one, why must you say that?”

“Because the prophecy of the united island comes from blood of one royal servant.”

“Who has royal blood other than me?”

“Someone who isn’t here or there but this soldier shall help the uniter.”

The king stood and pointed at me.

“Attack it!”

The guards came and I slashed them down one at a time before I charged toward the king.

My body flew back as I approached him.

“Let it go!”

Six

I used the sword to pick myself off the ground and charged toward the king when it turned black around me.

The firm step of someone was heard behind me.

 “Soldier!  Hold your attack!”

I turned to see the hooded person holding out its hand.

“You are the one to win over the king.  I have saved you from his wrath.”

“What do you mean?”

“You need to gather yourself before challenging him.”

I wasn’t sure what it was saying dropping the sword to my side.

“I’m the one to finish him?”

“Yes… all the people will be praised by you and you’ll restore the rightful honor to the islands.”

“Where am I going?”

“Your mind is in my control and you’ll awake in a cell.”

Seven

The person had been correct when I saw myself on the cold floor of the cell.

“Yuko!  What happened?”

“I was in the chamber and then I blacked out to return here.”

“The tyrant king is trying to unite the islands with his power.”

The voice of the woman caught both of our attentions directly across of us.

“What do you mean?”

“He’s been trying to get everyone under his rule for over twenty years.”

She was dressed in gray, shredded garbs as she stared at us from the cell.

“You use your sword to cut through the bars.”

I lifted my sword and swiped it across like cutting through string.

I made one more cut through opening up my exit.
----

Eight

I felt something running through my body as I twirled to cut through the doors.

“Get the gun and the pendant from the table.”

Itano tossed the pendant over to the woman as I opened the door.

The two guards were in the midst of conversation when we saw the woman mutter words.

“We have escapees…”

Their mouths were clamped shut as she threw water onto the floor freezing their feet to the ground.

I was amazed by her magic as we ran through the corridors.

Itano managed to get to the door and busted with a bullet from the gun.

The three of us ran straight into the forest.

“I know of a spot we can hide out.”

We were guided to a hole in the ground and slid into a cave.

Nine

“This is the hideout I was taken from.”

It was plain with only a chair and papers fluttering from the peephole toward the top.

“Wouldn’t they discover it again?”

“You would be right if the guards remembered.”

“Anyways I want to know your name.”

She turned around and smiled.

“I’m Maeda Atusko.  Leader of the alliance against the tyrant king.”

I introduced myself and Itano to her and explained about the travelling through a portal.

She nodded slowly before opening her map.

I glanced at it and saw the four islands.

I only knew of one island which we were on but we saw a line to the next place.

Atsuko had planned a sail east to Shihataka Island.
----

Ten

Maeda watched through the peephole as the sunset was approaching.

“We need to head to shore.”

She pointed to us the tunnel heading to the boat she had built before being caught.

We dragged it out of the door and pushed it out to sea.

A gust of wind pushed us off shore but we had to figure out the location through the patterns.

I estimated we had gone east which was the path until I noticed the change and forced it back to the right direction.

Atsuko had built the ship with a bottom acting as a cooler where we had fresh water supply for a day in a half.

The main issue was her lack of survival skills on the water which we fished using old hooks.

Three days had passed before seeing the island with smoke rising from it.

The pairing is a guessing game but you can tell who it is 

Eleven

Shihataka Island was the island with an active volcano.

Maeda told of the story of the last time the volcano didn’t erupt.

The sacrifice of a woman was needed unless the volcano goddess came to sight.

It was mostly a wasteland from the lava flow but we grew desperate to land and arrived on the island toward sunset.

We dragged the ship in land into the cave.

Maeda started the fire inside as Itano and I searched for food within the area.

The winds picked up around us with a slight pause and I suddenly grabbed gripped my sword.

Two creatures came out at us and launched their attack.

We attacked them with no avail and then energy from behind us blew by us taking out our opponents.
----

Twelve

“That was close.”

We glanced at each other before seeing Maeda come from behind.

“They are spirits of the island’s people.”

“Ehhh?”

“They can only be attacked with magic.  The island contains many elements to obtain.  Maybe you guys can get one.”

Maeda walked back to the cave as the moonlight reflected from the ocean.

“How do we obtain an element?”

Itano asked as I walked into the ocean feeling the water touch my feet.

“I’m not sure… but my body is feeling empowered.”

My fingertips started to drip water and I extended shooting out a stream.

“Sugoi!  I think I know how.”

Itano ran off to the cave and I came out of the water with its power.

Thirteen

I walked back to the cave with a bag filled of seafood when Itano came at me with a stream of fire from her hand.

“Here comes my attack!”

I caught her midsection sending her to the ground.

“I guess we are in good shape.”

Atsuko grabbed the bag and threw into the pot filled with salt water.

“What exactly is here except for spirits?”

Maeda looked up at the sky to see the moon.

“At the full moon, the leader of the spirits come out and resurrects the dead to play.”

“It doesn’t look full to me.”  I said as she nodded.

“You are quite observant.”

“I was a pirate…”

“In a suit of armor?  I figured you weren’t a soldier.”

“What did you expect me to be?”

Fourteen

“The person who’ll be the one to unite the islands.”

I pointed to myself as Itano broke her lips upwards into a U shape.

I couldn’t imagine myself being the person to bring it altogether.

It would be a challenge when Maeda tapped me on the shoulder.

“I can help.”

“Thank you.”

“Let me join in Yuko…”

“Itano, thank you too.”

“Now since the plan is to join up.  I might as well tell you that our mission here is to get the leader and forced it to join.”

“What if it doesn’t?”

The question amused Atsuko as the steam from the pot covered our faces.

“That person was the one who got me into prison in the first place.  It is payback.”
----
Fifteen

Dinner was brief.

Atsuko had quite a hardy appetite consuming half of the pot in one sitting.

We weren’t sure what to call her but once she was done, she collapsed onto the ground and slept.

Itano and I looked out the cave to see the spirits returning to the ocean.

We sat out until the sun rose when we expired into the sand.

“Wake up!”

Atsuko was above us as we scrambled to our feet.

We headed toward the brush where someone was sitting in a woven chair taking grapes from the bowl.

“Oi!  Takahashi, nice to see you free from prison.”

“Maeda!  Why are you here?”

“I’m here to get you back for ratting me out on the island.”
