She wore kimono as part of the Mikaeri Bijin performance, just that the messages segment followed next. Official graduation dress was still the floral one.

This video is not current but it shows an example of why we love Sayu so much and why she will be so missed...  so cute, so sensual, so idol, so everything there is to love about a Jpop queen at the height of her game!



Oh, just look at her cute little lip movements in the moments before she begins to sing...  00:08 to 00:26 or so...  little trembles and puckers...  how sweet, heh heh.

I will miss more of this!!

I caught some footage, now deleted sadly...  but just a couple of comments...

The triumphal march to the centre of the arena at the opening... such a celebration.  But look at the moment they are poised just after they arrive at the centre stage, and then the arms go up simultaneously...  and Sayumin and Fukuhime are exactly back to back, like, they can't see each other at all, and their timing is *perfect*...  probably a tiny thing, and simple if they are of course counting on the beat, but still...  ultra professional and a total class act...  of course!

And...  all the different coloured glowsticks, raised by the fans at pretty much the right moment for each member...  I have never seen Yokohama Arena look so good.  To have been there...  that would have been unforgettable.

With the conclusion of Morning Musume. ’14′s national concert tour “GIVE ME MORE LOVE”, long time member and leader Sayumi Michishige has officially graduated from the group at the final date today, November 26, at Yokohama Arena.

Sayumi Michishige joined Morning Musume  at 13 years of age after participating in the “Love Audition 2002” held by Up-Front Agency. She was chosen as one of four winners and officially became a member of the group’s 6th generation with the single “Shabondama” in 2003.

Now 25 years old, she has since become the longest running Morning Musume member with a total of 11 years within the group. In that time she has taken part in 45 singles and 28 albums as a member of 7 musical units, released 16 books (11 physical photo books, 4 digital photobooks, and 1 personal book), performed in films, dramas, commercials, as well as theater and has hosted two of her own radio programs.

Announced during the first MC segment of the concert was who would take Sayumi’s place as leader. With two subleaders, Mizuki Fukumura and Haruna Iikubo, it was decided that Mizuki Fukumura would take on the position to lead the group with Iikubo remaining as the sub-leader. Keeping with a new tradition of having two co-subleaders, Erina Ikuta was promoted to subleader.

Despite spraining her ankle by the end of the concert, Michishige persevered through her pain and not let it ruin her final concert. Streamed online, check out a small portion of her graduation below.




Following the touching graduation ceremony, Michishige performed “Akai Freesia“, and was then joined by her juniors in “Aruiteru” and “Happy Daisakusen“. Once finished, all the members lined up in a row on the main stage and thanked fans. Near tears and reluctant to leave, Michishige and the other members continued saying goodbye over and over again.

After all the members had left the stage, a video was projected with all the members on a couch, each leaving one by one until only Sayumi was left with a book that read “4329 days / 2003.01.19 ~ 2014.11.26 Sayumi Michishige” to nicely bookend to this chapter of her life. Michishige will temporarily stop all activities after her graduation.

The DVD and Blu-ray of this concert will be released on February 11, 2015.

Twelfth generation audition winners Maria Makino, Miki Nonaka, Haruna Ogata and Akane Haga will begin as full time members in 2015 when Morning Musume. ’14 becomes Morning Musume. ’15 on January 1st.

^ During the stream, we saw her wincing and sitting down through the medley part.  J-Tri had pointed out that and she wasn't really doing anything too strenuous after that but you have to consider about almost two hours of pain

Anybody remembered Sayu's debut concert? It was at Kei's graduation, where she & her 3 fellow 6th-gen members gave graduation messages to Yasuda.
11 years later. Sayu's now the Oka-san getting  graduation messages from the debuting 12th-gen members. It ended just like how it started.
 

Seriously I wonder if us MM fans know what we're getting into. Since becoming a fan I've seen the entire 5th & 6th generations, Yossie, Junjun, AND Linlin gone. Multiple Never Forget & Namidachi performances can't be all that good for the emotional heart And when a packed arena starts chanting the graduate's name
Asuka...Asuka...
Keichan...Keichan...
Kaorin...Kaorin...and now Sayumi... Sayumi...
And still we stay in this heart-wrenching cycle! Well at least on the 26th we still see essence of Yuko & Kaorin in the outgoing leader: an Oka-san comforting, consoling the Musumes whom she watched their growths from mere debutants

...may the new(current?) leadership trinity of Mizuki, Haruna, & Ikuta help us soldier through this difficult change

^ Holy shit Kei-chan's graduation was the first H!P concert I watched. I didn't even know what graduations were or that it was going to be a graduation concert; I basically discovered when everyone was bawling their eyes out and giving her messages. I was like, omg one of them is leaving!! Whoa and that was Sayu's debut? I don't have a memory of that (I didn't really know their names at that point haha), but that's insane. And like you said now 12th gen gave Sayu their messages. It's nuts but I LOVE THIS about Morning Musume. The story-arcs constantly beginning and ending and each of them precious~.

Michishige Sayumi graduates from Morning Musume '14
November 27, 2014

On November 26, idol group Morning Musume '14 wrapped up their fall tour "Morning Musume '14 Concert Tour Fall GIVE ME MORE LOVE ~Michishige Sayumi Sotsugyo Kinen Special~" at Yokohama Arena, and with this concert, the leader Michishige Sayumi officially graduated from the group and also from Hello! Project.

Michishige joined the group back in January 2003 as a 6th generation member, and stayed for 12 years which is the longest period for a member of the group.

During the graduation ceremony, Michishige, appeared in a pink dress and looked back upon the past saying, "It was not like I was interested in showbiz, nor loved to sing or dance. I am here only because of my love for Morning Musume." She then expressed her gratitude to the fans, "Thank you for finding me, and meeting me."

The idol also said with tearful eyes, while looking around the venue which was at full capacity with 12,000 audience members, "I always said 'there is a view I would want to show my juniors' and this is it. This is the last thing I can give back to them."

Nakazawa Yuko --the first leader of the group--, ℃-ute member Yajima Maimi who will take over the leader of Hello! Project after Michishige, and LoVendoЯ's Tanaka Reina who was also the 6th generation member, appeared on the stage to celebrate Michishige's graduation.

Also, the producer Tsunku♂, other former Morning Musume members, Kikuchi Ami, Yanagihara Kanako (known as the group's fan), Tanaka Masahiro and Satoda Mai, and more visited the venue for Michishige, and watched over her.

During the concert, Morning Musume '14 performed 32 songs, including "TIKI BUN", "Wagamama Ki no mama Ai no Joke", Michishige's solo song "Shabadaba Doo", and "Akai Freesia" (Melon Kinenbi) which was the set piece for the 6th generation audition.

At the live, it was announced that Fukumura Mizuki would be the 9th leader, and both Iikubo Haruna and Ikuta Erina were picked as the sub-leaders.
 
After her graduation, Michishige will take a break from showbiz indefinitely.
