Chapter I Don't Ka-nowEach days pass, the distance between Mayu and Jurina becomes closer. It really pisses me off whenever people around me praise them at them of good they together. Like seriously, Mayuki would sound way better. Okay I know it’s cocky to say that can’t help it if the person you really like is too close with someone else. But Jurina is a popular kid not only pretty but also a very smart one. We don’t hate each other but at same time I hate how she’s so close with Mayu. We are already friends but I think it would be better if we could become closer. Maybe an advantage…
“Hi Jurina, wanna come hang out with us?” I ask as Jurina turns her direction to Mayu and gangs.
“It’s ok-“ She says.
“Yea join us.” Miichan tries persuading while Jurina looks confused thinking whether she should go to Mayu or us, and that’s when I realised she’s happy to go.
“Yukirin, where do you wanna go eat?” Ask Jurina as we walk down the aisle of the school cafeteria.
“Any where’s fine.”
Ok, you can call me a bitch if you want. But it’s only because I want Mayu. I mean it’s not my fault that I love Mayu so much that I would practically do anything to get him.
The whole school spurs outside on the oval with other students from 2 different schools to verse. The first is the baseball as we all stand on the side and cheer on our school team loudly.
“Go Mocchi!” Akicha stands up proudly cheering on Mocchi showing what a proud girlfriend she is.
“Nyan Nyan watch me!!” Yuko beams loudly at Kojiharu who seems to kind of look uninterested.
“Haha yea good luck.” Kojiharu did a fake a smile and a laugh at Yuko but even if it’s deceiving, Yuko always enjoys every conception of her. I can feel the pain even for her.
The empathy…It’s Yuko’s turn to bat as she kept on stealing glances at Nyan Nyan to grab her attentions. But too bad Nyan Nyan is more focus on checking out Shinoda-san. I hope Nyan Nyan understands how she’s worth to Yuko. I hope she doesn’t take Yuko for granted. The baseball game went well. Our school won again and of course all the credits goes to Mocchi.
“You were awesome!” Everyone gathers around the baseball team members and continue on praising Mocchi of how skilful she was.
“Nyan Nyan was I good?” Yuko asks.
“Yes you were awesome.” How could you tell if you didn’t watch the game?
Yuko cheerfully beams at Nyan Nyan who doesn’t even look at her in the eyes. Instead her attentions were on Shinoda-san, the popular, smart and kind senior in the school.
“Hey.” Shinoda-san greets Nyan Nyan who seems to be very shy and fidgety.
“Hey.” Haruna replies. She acts very odd around him and it kind of creeps me out. I could see the bliss wearing away from Yuko as she stumbles to the bathroom. I decide to follow her because I care about my friends’ feelings and already I could hear sniffles coming from the last cubicle and who else could be in there.
“Yuko are you all right.” I whisper quietly afraid to hurt her misleading delicate heart.
“Yea yea I’m alright! Yukirin, I can’t be any happier.” She tries her hardness to smile again and I could imagine her hentai squirrel teeth in my mind.
“Is there anything you want to talk about?” I asked.
“No nothing. You should go now, the rests might be waiting. I’ll come later.”
“Ok then but be quick thou.”
I suggest to let her go and go back the oval but I hid behind the walls as soon as I hear giggles from the other side.
“Yea. I’ll see ya.”
“Don’t forget to talk to me tonight or else.”
Wait is that Mayu’s voice I just heard. Busted! Mayu and Jurina sees me standing solemnly.
“Ohayou Yukirin.” Mayu greets me with those smiles he likes to do.
“Ohayou.” I reply shyly.
“You playing next?”
“Yea.”
“Ok I’ll come watch you.”
I unsurely walk back to the oval and pick up my clothing for the next game.
“Play real hard Yukirin!”
“Yes Takahashi-san.”
“And er-“ Mr Takahashi cuts his words and drew his attentions to Ms Acchan and I guess I’ve got no choice but to step inside the field.
“Make me proud Yukirin.” Shouts Sae from the audience side and I reply him with a fist pump in the air.
The whistle blows and the next thing I know is waking up in a hospital room.
Literally. I’m only kidding.
The others are so rough. It’s like a giant verses a miniature. I get back up before turning this drama into a climax. I could see Mayu from the other end, watching every pace that I make. I try taking the ball off my opponent but ends up getting tricked and oh boy what an embarrassment.
Come on I should try harder. Where are all the skills Sae taught me?!
Great the other team just scored.
It’s now 2-0 farge why did I even bother to play.
I’m just embarrassing myself.
The game finishes as I shake their hands and beam. I roam my eyes around the audience side looking for Mayu but he already left. “Yukirin it’s ok. Don’t be disheartened.” Miichan comes patting me on the shoulder as she stares at the score board.
“Yes!! We’re still going through.” Akicha says proudly. I mean there’s nothing to be proud of. We suck so bad.
“Yea it was just a friendly match.”
Thank God we’re still in.
“Who are we versing thou?”
“The BACs.”
“What does it stand for?” I ask looking confuse.
“Best Absolute Champions.”
“Wait isn’t that Jurina’s team?”
“Yea it is. I heard they are pretty good.”
It’s bad and good. I know I wouldn’t be able to surpass Jurina’s skill in soccer but practice makes perfect.
But if you’re shitt then I don’t think so. I can’t even kick and I wasted Mayu times and made him watch me failing.
I want to kill myself.
“See told you guys. Those two would really look good.” Miichan says as we take a glance at the table in front of us. Seriously, Miichan is such a nosy
kid. She cares a lot.
“No way!” I detest immediately.
“Why?” Asks Gachapin.
“Coz, Mayu is too good for her.”
It’s true. In fact, no girls in this school could make a cute couple with him. He’s just too perfect for anyone.
‘That’s quite mean.” Says Miichan.
“Well I’m only saying the truth.” I say as I continue on eating my sushi feeling quite satisfy.
I couldn’t eat properly without having a worry. Gosh, why are they smiling so much. Like seriously. Jurina is no offence, but off-limit standard to Mayu. They shouldn’t even hang out.
“Yukirin, stop staring at them,” interrupts Akicha as I keep on making mental judgement notes Jurina.
“I’m not.” I protest.
“Oh yea really, then why were you so serious when looking them? Unless you’re jealous.” Miichan smirks.
“I not jealous. Why the f would I be.”
“Yea she’s not jealous.” A voice interrupts our conversation and that’s when I realise its Ren.
“Ohayou Ren.” I grin.
“Ohayou Yukirin.” He replies, gosh that smile.
“Come sit with us.” Miichan invites him and of course he never lets anyone down. It’s amazing how he looks so good and still well-mannered and kind.
He’s perfect but not quite perfect as Mayu.“Ok then sure.” Ren sits next to me as we continue on joking around.

On the other hand what Yukirin didn’t know is, there’s another yet deadly glare coming from her front. Jurina feels a pang of hatred and anguish as she sees Ren having a fun time with Yukirin and her friends. “Are you alright?” Mayu questions, “Yea I’m alright.”
“Is that Matsui Ren? The school hero?”
“Yeah.” Jurina forces a smile but she knows she can’t hide this feeling forever. She just wishes if only Ren could be so comfortable and happy talking to her just like how she always talks to Yukirin.
That night, Yukirin feel very stiff as she slumps on her bed.
Knock Knock
‘Come in.” She answers and waking her from her boredom, Sae enters her room with a box full of sushi’s.
“Hey Sae.”
“Sup. Here I bought you some sushi.” He places the box the bed as he makes himself comfortable sitting on the bed opposite to Yukirin.
“Thank you.” Yukirin thanks him as she stiffs the sushi in her mouth.
“I thought you wouldn’t come.” Says Yukirin because Sae would usually come over her house on Wednesday and Friday to study or hang out together but today’s Thursday. Sae shrugs as he takes out a pile full of forms.
“What’s that for?”
“Oh I’m doing internship for my uni next year.”
“What?”
“I want to become a model.”
“So is that why you’re putting on a lot of muscles lately.”
“Yep. Going to America to pursue my dream.”
“What?” Yukirin nearly choked ad she struggles to find her breath.
“You can’t! I’m not going to let you!” She grabs Sae by the shoulder and starts shaking him.
“It’s not like we’re never going to see each other. I just want to chase after my dream.” Yukirin stops as she puts on a frown and keeps a distance from Sae sitting on the edge of her bed.
“But, I’ll be stuck here thou. Who’s going to be my guard without you?” Yukirin says as she struggles to fight back her welling tears. It hurts Sae so bad to see her who means so much to him like this. Sae moves him forward as he gives Yukirin a hug and wiping away her tears with his thumb. “I promise I will always visit you.” Sae gives a pat on the head and smiles. “You better or else I’ll kill myself and haunt you.” Yukirin threats him as Sae chuckles of how cute and childish Yukirin can be sometimes.
“But I hope you fail.” Yukirin says cutely as she puts another sushi in her mouth.
“Why, don’t you want me to succeed my dream?” Sae questions feeling confuse.
“No, so you can stay here with me.”
“Everyone run 3 laps for me thanks. Now get your lazy moving.” Sensei Akimoto instructs as all of the class A and B Senior starts running around the oval and on one dares saying ‘I can’t run’ or else they’ll get a bigger punishment. Everyone’s afraid of Sensei Akimoto, even the toughest boys who run around the streets dare not make any trouble in her class.
Come on guys, even my grandma can run better than that!” Akimoto sensei yells and already around midway first lap, everyone looks like they were going to die.
“Ok now you can all get a drink.” The whole class drags their feet along with them to the tap to fetch a drink.
“Gosh! I hate this class!” Miichan complains looking like a dog who had just run with their tongue out.
“Oh my gosh! My legs are killing me!” Yukirin whines as they all walk back to the gym with the whole lot of classmates behind them. Including Mayu and Ren.
Yukirin feels like she’s about collapses as she keeps on gritting her teeth and grumpily dragging her legs. She knows she can’t continue and out of her luck her snaps when she hit it against the door frame and falls backward. But luckily gets caught by a pair of strong warm arms before banging her backs on the concrete. Everyone gasps trying to help Yukirin. “You alright?” Ren asks and Yukirin quickly tries standing back up when she realise that Ren had just caught her. “My leg hurts.” Yukirin sobers and unnoticed her tear that’s falling rapidly due to the pain. Jurina sees the scene and she swears, her heart is going to explode in any minute.
“What’s going on? Alright, I need someone to take you to nurse room.” Sensei Akimoto says as rushes to help but realises she can’t do anything about it.
“I will.” Ren assists Yukirin putting her leg arm around his broad shoulder and his other arm on her waist helping her to walk. Jurina cry silently inside her heart and how she wishes it was her who got injured and Ren would him.
“Damn, what a romance.” The whole class starts snitching about the scene and everyone one of them has a feeling of Ren maybe liking Yukirin.
“I feel sorry for Jurina thou, did you see her face!? She looked like a red hot tomato damn!”
“I feel bad for her. It must be hard having a crush on someone who likes another person.”
On the other scene, Ren had just finished helped cleaning Yukirin’s wound in the school’s nurse room.
“You can walk right?” Ren asks.
“Yea, thank God it didn’t break.”
“Want me to escort you to home?” Ren smiles.
“It’s alright, I could call Sae.” She doesn’t want to be a bother but Ren shows her what a true gentlemen he is.
“No it’s alright I will.”
“Why?”
“Because I want to.”
The end of class bell rings and Ren picks up Yukirin and his bags as he guides her to her house. They thought it would be awkward walking together but it actually doesn’t turn out like that.
“So what are you going to do after this?” Ren asks as they walk together side by side following the narrow path with beautifully blossom trees. “Rest.” Yukirin replies and Ren answers, “of course, hope you get better.”
“Thanks.”
“Yukirin, let’s stop by the noodle inn.” Yukirin makes no time to think as Ren grabs her hand dragging her inside the restaurant. “Take as my treat, let’s eat.” Ren says he sits opposite of Yukirin and making a gesture at the waitress. “Hello sir, what would you and your girlfriend would like to have?” Yukirin eyes nearly pop out of her face while Ren chuckles at her reaction, “I would like a ramen thanks. How about you Yukirin?” “Same as him thank you.” “Sure, wait please.”
You have a cute reaction.” The complement’s just too much for Yukirin as she shows him another cute big reaction with her bright pink blushing cheeks. “You’re really cute.” Please stop Ren, my face is already red enough… He sheepishly smile to himself as he lets out every true thought her.
“Gomen, I’ll stop.” His apologies let alone already shows Yukirin he still considers and won’t go over limit.
The ramen arrives as they both devour it. “This place is my favourite; they’ve got the best food.” “They sure do, it’s delicous.” It’s already dark by the time they had finished and payed. They walk side by side and the gaps between them have become smaller and Yukirin’s happy to know it. Quick think Yukirin. What should we talk? It’s confusing for Yukirin, she just doesn’t know what to talk about and of course she doesn’t Ren to think her as a boring type.
“Have thought about your future yet?” Yukirin starts the conversation breaking the icy distance between them.
“I’m not really sure with my life but my father wants me to take over his business company.” Ren replies with his calm soothing voice.
“Then it’s set for you.” She tries cheering him up.
“No, I don’t actually want to.” Yukirin feels an electric jolt racing through her whole body when she realises Ren has stopped walking and all that she could see is the sadness written in his face. Crap what the heck did I asked? “I want to be an archery player.” Yukirin lets out a huge breath feeling relieved as soon as Ren replaces a smile.
“How about you?” He asks giving her the angelic smile.
“Me? I don’t really know. I think I want to be a singer…like an idol.” Ren nods his head in agreement, “well I guess you have to try hard to earn those dreams.” The 2s continue on chatting till they reached Yukirin’s house. “Thank you so much Ren for today, if it wasn’t you then I think I would’ve been in hospital by now.” Yukirin thanks him as she stands on her doorstep facing him.
“All goods Yukirin.” Ren replies.
“I guess I’ll see you tomorrow at school.”
“Yea. Me too.” Yukirin could feel the cold atmosphere around the two as she feels the butterflies trying to escape from her stomach. She doesn’t know what to do next. Go inside or just wait. But wait for what? She shyly smiles and blushes as Ren keeps on giving her his infamous smiles and slowly each pace he takes adds a thump to her heart and the next thing she knows is Ren’s lips on her forehead. “That’s my goodnight. Sweet dreams beautiful.” Ren’s voice was so soothing yet calm and sexy that freezes Yukirin’s body solemnly. Ren for the last time steps down from the stairs and gives her the last handsome charming smiles for tonight as he coolly strolls down. She snaps back to reality and goes inside and starts screaming her lungs out letting out all of her happiness.
“Honey, are you okay?” Mrs Kashiwagi interrupts and Yukirin replies with a no as she goes in her room continuing the celebration of what a joy of day had been for her.
That night, Yukirin couldn’t stop her fantasy dreamland with Ren and still keeps thinking back how great it felt when Ren gave her a good night kiss plus calling her beautiful. It just feels too good for Yukirin to be called by handsome prince beautiful. She keeps on hugging the teddy Sae bought her last Christmas but soon stops when the image of Mayu pops up in her head.
