@ChibiRine Thanks for spending your time reading my lame fic.
@bunny_rabbit I don't know why people here are all geniuses.
So here is the next part (another short update)
Last night was wild. Yuri and I decided to go for a drink at a fancy French restaurant. It was not something I decided for an instant but she insisted me to join her, as a celebration for her promotion. I could not say no. To be precise, why should I? Then she wanted to have a chit-chat over the job. We sat at our reserved table and skimmed through the menu. Yuri ordered the finest red wine, grilled salmon and desserts and I ordered the same minus desserts. We were drunk and the rest was history. Yuri always said that she loved me dearly right the moment we first met.
We were working on a same company for three years before I resigned from the job. Our first meeting was not a good one. I would like not to remember a thing about the memory. She is the daughter of our boss, information technology (IT) genius. She is his only daughter. Of course that made she felt like she was a spoiled kid in the family, a brat is the term used in society. She acted like one to be honest but a thought then hit you, how it was going to feel to have such a girl in your life? She would add tons of fun and colors to your dull colorless life. So I tried to be close to her, tried to take a liking to her. It was an easy job when your target was a lonely young lady. You went out there, tried a few pick up lines you learned from internet and she will be holding your hand as both of you walked into a love hotel room. But things changed when I met Rina. She immediately became a purpose of my whole life. Her existence was crucial, as important as air that I breathe in. For that I was glad I met her.
Yuri came out after ten minutes. I was a little worried as she wore her expressionless face and I knew the condition was not good. Trying to comfort her would not do any good either. Without even looking at me, “Send me to the station. I’m worn-out.” She commanded.
“If you’re really tired I can send you to your home, there is no need for you to go the station. Is it okay? At least that is something I can do for you.” I said. I had got plenty of time today. It was my day off. Rina was out with the children to her parents’ home at Osaka for a week. I was planning to give them a little visit and picked them up this evening. Rina’s parents asked them to stay there for a couple more days but I said no, they could not. Her parents asked why and I simply stated that I started to miss my family.
With a dejected look, Yuri gave up on the question and she followed me quietly to the hotel exit. In the hotel hallway, I saw a couple chatting in front of their room. Their words weren’t all that clear but I could hear something like, my first time, school and parents. These kids must have skipped school and went here instead of spending time in class like their peers did. And these kids devoted their lives for love, to love. They thought they knew everything about love yet they absolutely knew nothing and they thought love was the most important thing in this world. They were wrong. I had such a belief and reality rapidly sunk in. There was no saving in reality and someone you love will not pull you up, no one will save you. When you lost in love games you just need to be ready to face the sorrow.
I went to the hotel reception to return the key, a woman probably in her late 40s was standing there and she put out a box of Camel, put a cigarette between her lips and lit it up. “How was it?”
“How was it?” I seconded.
“You know… the action and stuff...” A silly smile crept onto her face.
Nodding, “Good I guess. Sorry, I need to go...she doesn’t love waiting.” I tried to say no more. Yuri would not want me or anyone else to talk about our relationship. It was more like a dirty little secret for both of us. The secret was a fabrication of something bigger, something dirtier than the relationship itself. It was big enough to lead to my destruction. Maybe Yuri did not feel the same way but I’d always fear the power her father had. If one day he decided to erase me off literally, nothing would stand in his way.
Yuri’s father was known for his seriousness and he had abnormal, peculiar obsession in politics. Hence he ran as a candidate for the parliament seat after his father (Yuri’s grandfather) died of heart disease. He and his deceased father had this lunatic dream of conquering information society in Japan though it meant they will need to eliminate their rivals. Unfortunately, the dream was somewhat working fine. I had been told that his influence was enormous. He gained more power. He started to abandon his family, neglect his responsibility as father for Yuri. Maybe there was a time when he forgot the fact that he has a family. Yuri didn’t show like she cared much but deep inside, she was hurt, severely and mercilessly. She lost all connection towards the outside world. She became an addict, an attention addict. All she wanted was for his father to pay attention of her well-being. Sometimes, I felt sorry but there was nothing I could do to help her.
“With my soul! I want to sing with you. Together♪” Yuri and I were kind of startled.
“Is it your phone, producing what must I say… that terrible ringtone?” Yuri stopped right next to my white Toyota MR2 and her face showed her curiosity about the call.
“Yes. Sorry. Can I take this call? It’s probably important.” I took the phone out from my chest pocket and opened up the lock screen to answer the call. It was Rina at the other end of the conversation and I did not expect that she would call me at this time. Not that I did not like it but it was just out of the ordinary.
“Good morning! A very good morning! Did I wake you up? Sorry! It was just Naami. She really wanted to talk to you and excited to meet you. She’s literally counting days. I told her that she could talk with you tomorrow but she didn’t bother. She’s kind of stubborn just like you. It is fun here but I missed you. Uh anyways, how are you today?” Her voice hinted no problem. It was just her natural cheerful voice. She’d probably happy to talk to me.
“Oh, fine as always. I spent the week reading and stuff. For foods, I was out for meals at McDonalds and sometimes I prepared quick food, real simple nothing fancy. I got really hungry since my chef isn’t home. Wonder if she went for another job at other restaurants (which I swear to God I’ll kill myself if it happened to me). I need to make her come back to my place. ” I tried to crack a joke.
“No you silly. I know that I’m a better cook and you will starve without me. I’ll never leave your so called restaurant.” Rina was laughing hard. I always adored the way she laughs. She never faked her laughter and her smile. And I liked her cute pout the best.
