Aya dodges the pillow thrown at her. She finds it harder to explain now that Miki had correctly guessed her reason for turning up.

“NO! I’m here because I love you.”

Aya has to dodge another pillow.

“Ok, I will leave after I say this. I admit I felt jealous just now when I saw you with Yoshizawa-san. In fact I was overcame with jealousy, only then I realized how important you are to me.”

Seeing that Miki is finally listening, Aya slows down “I’m sorry I didn’t make up my mind earlier, I wasn’t sure what I want. But when I know I’m gonna lose you, I know I have to come for you. Will you forgive me?”

“You said you will leave when you’re done.”

Aya cannot believe her ears, this time Miki is hard-hearted.

“I know I hurt you but seeing you like this hurts me too. If I lose you, my life will be meaningless. You know it. Please forgive me… Good night.”

The door closes. Miki collapses on the bed. Her thoughts are in a mess, she wants to forgive Aya but on the other end, she does not want to get hurt again…

Yossi lies on her bed. She recaps her conversation with Miki. If two persons think that Rika likes her, they cannot be wrong.

She has known Rika for 3 years now, Rika is a sweet girl, though they are always bickering, they know it is only for good fun. They are never really get angry with each other. It is only recently they had a real fight. It was the first time she ever shouted at Rika and it was the first time Rika ever apologized (through Gotchan).

She vented her anger on Rika again, over Miki’s thinggie, once again it was Rika who initiated the patch up. It is like a vicious cycle. People said you only shout at those close to you because you start to take them for granted and also because you know they will let you get away with it.

(Had I really fallen for her?)
‘Go for it, friend, don’t let it be a regret later in life.’ Miki’s words floats up in her mind. Miki is right, she had regretted once, all because she lacked the courage to ask the truth from Gotchan.

(Will this be another regret?)

Yossi gets up the bus, surprised to see Miki alone.

“You’re early.”
“Correction, earliest. Here.” Miki pats on the seat besides her.

They laugh at each other, finding the rapport they shared funny, it will be bad if they are late again.

“Looks like you didn’t sleep well…”
“Never know you are the observant type.”
“Actually… last night I heard some commotion coming from your room.”
“Ah…”
“It’s ok if you don’t wanna say.”
“Ayaya came.”
Yossi nods her head “…for?”
 Miki looks out of the window, pauses for a while before she says “She kissed me.”
“Oh~” Yossi raises her eyebrows. “Already patch up ya?”
“The problem is we never kissed before.” Miki keeps her voice low, she knows Yossi will find it ridiculous.
“NA-NI ? you telling me lovers don’t kiss?”
“She only allows me to hold her hands…”

Miki looks at the ‘monkey’ besides her. She has been laughing non-stop for a few minutes now.

“mou ii yo?” Miki finally asks.

“Sorry, but I can’t help it.” Yossi holds on to her stomach which is now aching.

“If I knew, I shouldn’t have told you.”

“Please don’t start it again.” Yossi tries not to laugh, “The thing is, I don’t understand why you allow Ayaya to do that to you? A daring and stubborn girl like you at her peck and call?”

“I don’t understand it myself. In my heart, she’s my goddess, as long as she is happy…”

Yossi can hear Miki’s voice trailing off. She looks at Miki, surprised that Miki has a soft side; how she can be an angel when it comes to love.

“Why you two quarrel?” Yossi treads on the question carefully.

“I know you’ve been dying to ask that.” Miki snubs “She’s uwaki. I know she’s always out meeting with some guys, I just leave it as long as she’s still nice to me but when I know she rather spend her birthday with some guy rather than with me…”

Yossi puts her arm around Miki’s shoulders. “I’m ok.” Miki says. “I just realized I’m always playing second fiddle, which hurts a lot. Then she came last night, telling me she really love me.”

“Isn’t that good?”

“I don’t know if I should believe her… She make me feel I’m just an unwanted toy, wanting it back only after she seen others playing with it.”

“‘Others’ referring to me?” Yossi removes her arm from Miki and points a finger at herself.

“I’m sorry, I’m not making use of you. I genuinely want to be your friend because I find we can clique.” Miki holds Yossi’s hand, looking worried.

Yossi smiles. “I can’t doubt you after you had told me so much. Besides I can feel it.”

“yokatta…”

“Give her another chance. You are giving yourself a chance too. Remember you told me ‘don’t let it be a regret later in life’?”

“and you?”

Yossi nods. “Let’s go for it.”

Yossi pricks up her ears, Mari and Abe’s conversation is too interesting to miss.

Abe: “I thought they are just good friends.”
Yaguchi: “Someone caught them smooching…”

Yossi shifts nearer to the pair.

Abe: “nah~ must be some nasty rumors again, I don’t believe a word.”
Yaguchi: “But why on Makochan and Konkon?”

(oh shit!)

“Wait a minute.” Yossi interrupts. “What’s these all about?
Yaguchi: “Scandal in the group.”

Yossi is confused. She tries to put all pieces of information together to get the full picture. They stop talking when the door of the gakuya opens.

“Yoshizawa-san, can I have a word with you?” Makoto walks away and the door closes back.

Makoto leans on the wall of the corridor, she stands up straight when she sees Yossi appears.

“Big mouth ass…”
“HEY! What’s wrong?”
“I know you’re trying to impress Fujimoto-san, but do you have to tell her everything!”

Yossi knows what Makoto is implying. “I didn’t tell Miki about Konkon and you.”
“Don’t lie! I overheard you that day in the restaurant, you mentioned Konkon and me!”
“I DIDN’T tell her, she guessed it herself.”
“Now you admit it! ASS~ because of you, Konkon is looking at me with those weird eyes. YOU JERK!”

The slap leaves a burning sensation on Yossi’s cheek, she looks on disbelievingly as Makoto storms off.

In one corner, someone is relishing in the scene that unfolds before her.

“You believed I’m the one who told?”
“I can’t think of anyone else.”
“One last time, you believed it’s me going around telling tales?”

Yossi remains quiet and that is the answer Miki needs.

“So my Saint, to you I’m just a lowly character ya! SUCKER!”

“Something good happened.”

Iida looks at the five girls seated around the table. Miki is staring at the ceiling, Yossi is messing with her handphone, Rika is fiddling her fingernails, Makoto is counting the checks on her skirt and Konno is just looking into space.

Recently Iida has sensed a weird tension in the group. Through the help of Mari and Abe, she manages to pinpoint the culprits down to these five girls. Deciding that all the ignoring and avoiding among them has to come to a stop, she arranges this secret meeting. However, each individual’s behavior tells her it isn’t going to be an easy job. She decides to start from the easiest target.

“Konkon, what’s your problem?”
“Iida-san… I don’t have any problem.” Konno’s reply is so soft, Iida has to strain her ears.
“I mean Makochan and you, you two haven’t been talking much to each other.”

Yossi, Rika and Miki steal glances at Makoto and Konno whom just keep their heads low.

“Alright Konkon, you may leave.”

Just as a surprised Konno is about to leave the room, Iida says out “Konkon, don’t you think it’s silly to let a rumor ruin the friendship?”

The remark warms Makoto’s heart, it is exactly what she has been trying to tell Konno, just that Konno never give her a chance to have a heart to heart talk.

With Konno’s gone, Iida directs her attention to Rika.

“And you, does Yossi irk you so much?”
“no…”
“Alright, you can leave too, but before, I want you to think about this. Whose graduation from the group will sadden you the most?”

Iida: “I’m leaving too, I’ll leave the three of you to settle it out.”

Yossi, Miki and Makoto exchange looks, this is definitely something they do not expect.

The room becomes so quiet, the drop of a needle can be heard. Yossi looks at Miki, who turns to look at Makoto who turns to look at Yossi. They grin before laughing out loud.

“Alright, I’ll start it. Miki, I’m sorry I doubted you.”

“Apologies accepted. Ogawa-san, I never speak ill of you.”

“I believe you and Yossi, sorry about the slap.”

“SLAP!” Miki’s reaction is like a kid finding a new toy. “Oh, she deserves it.”

Three of them laugh again.

Miki: “I’ve a suggestion, let’s continue somewhere else…”
