This chapter is seen through Risa’s POV so its basically written through her thoughts. Also, special appearances by the other Momosu members.
Chapter 36[Inside Risa’s Head]
I shuffle into the dance studio grudgingly with my bag hanging lopsided off my shoulder. It was bright and early the next morning with the sun barely climbing up into the crimson sky. My eyes were only half open, a result of lying awake the whole night wondering how the girls were and not daring to message or call them.
“Good morning!”
Eri greeted me in a cheery voice and slapped me on the back a little harder than usual. I wonder what she was so happy about. Did she communicate with her alien friends again last night?
“Morning.”
I mutter a half-hearted reply and went back to my zombie-like state. I’m sure I look like a total wreck and apparently Eri noticed it too.
“Did you get that?”
Eri’s question jolted me from drifting off to someplace comparable to Neverland and I look in her direction, trying to focus on her face, which appeared a little fuzzy.
“Wha…t?”
“Did you catch the number of that truck, the one that just hit you?”
I mumble another indecipherable sound before realizing she was taking a poke at me. Usually I might acquire a reaction close to annoyance if I was made fun of like this when I wasn’t in the mood to be made fun of. Did you get what I just thought? My brain isn’t functioning all that well in sleepy mode.
But staring at Eri’s face all joyful and smiley, I somehow couldn’t get mad at her. Who could go nuts at Kamei with her childish grin and kissable lips?
“Yeah I didn’t sleep that well last night.”
I hope this excuse was enough to get Eri off my case, she could get buggy if she wanted to. My rather weak reason appeared to be enough to satisfy her and she grabbed my head in a hold and rocked it from side to side.
“Ahhhh poor Gaki baby.”
“Er…you can let go of my head now.”
I struggle to free myself of Eri’s grip and shrank away inconspicuously. Now I’m fully awake, too freaked out from Kame’s weird actions. I slowly become aware of the studio being quieter than usual with only the sounds of Yoshizawa-san fiddling with the stereo and Makoto’s voice booming in the background as she told Asami some joke.
Glancing around, I saw Ai stretching in one corner, Reina warming up in the corner diagonal from her and Sayumi with her face practically buried in her bag as she acted like she was searching for something. Surely Eri couldn’t have been taken in by such lousy acting skills?
“Okay everyone in their places!”
I scramble into position with Eri hot on my heels as the music started. I look at the leader’s reflection in the floor to ceiling mirrors and saw her brows knotted in deep concentration. As madcap as Yoshizawa-san is, she was always responsible and serious when she needed to be.
My gaze landed on the two girls in question but the expressions they wore were normal. Did I dream up everything that happened last night? After all catching Reina and Sayumi in the
‘act’ among bushes wasn’t something you bang into everyday. Maybe I was just overly active in my dream world or something. That would explain why I was dead tired now.
After that, I run through the dance for Ambitious! Yashinteki De Ii Jan not paying much attention to anything until Mikitty’s voice made me jump. I turn my head and freeze at the sight before me. Fujimoto-san had her hands on her hips and she was glaring, yes glaring at Ai and Reina.
“Would you two cut it out!”
Her voice bellows and Sayumi and Koharu start whimpering. Yoshizawa-san shakes her head slightly as if expecting such a scene.
“What’s with messing up on purpose? Others have a life, we can’t spend the whole day just perfecting one dance.”
“She really wants to go meet Aya at the café. I overheard her on the phone.”
Makoto’s whispering wasn’t all that soft and I hear Konno shushed her up quickly. There was no sense in everyone getting involved in this.
“I know there’s something up between you two. Settle your boy fights
before you come to practice.”
“Let’s get a drink.”
Yoshizawa-san places a hand on Miki’s arm and leads her away from the pair who was looking in different directions. Ai was staring at some non-existent object a few feet away while Reina kept her eyes narrowed on the wall behind Miki.
“Koharu-chan, come on. Everybody take five.”
I was glad Yoshizawa-san stopped Miki before things got out of hand. I was even more relieved that Koharu was out of the studio. It would be difficult trying to explain to a 14 year old the problems her seniors were facing.
“So what’s up? You should know better than to let some boy get between you”
I wished Makoto didn’t start at a crucial time like this. Judging from the look on Reina’s face, I was pretty sure she was going to explode at any moment.
“It’s really not worth it. We have something much more significant than boys.”
One Makoto who didn’t know when to keep her mouth shut was bad enough but Eri too? And boy troubles, man they couldn’t be further from the truth. I squeezed my eyes shut and hoped for divined intervention but my prayers weren’t answered and what happened next could be the trailer for some girl fight flick.
“Do you think we have something much more significant than boys Eri?”
Uh oh, please don’t get Kame involved, I plead silently at Ai with my eyes, but she either didn’t catch my gaze or she was too angry to care.
“Y..eah?”
Eri replied, unsure at where Ai was going. Except that I was certain, if Ai continued like this,
everyone was going to get implicated.
“Do you have to do that? Must you
destroy what Eri and Sayu have?”
“So you care about what they have? Then why jeopardize it with your little tryst with Shige?”
And all hell breaks loose, it really does…
