Also another question for the people who work at video game shops... Do you guys check if the systems and games work before you buy used shit from people? Cause I'm wondering if I'm gonna be able to sell my crapped out ps2 and some games to the local gamestop for some cash
SITS, there's a chance that they will check it, and there's a chance they won't. I'm the only one in my store that checks systems before we take them in, and even I sometimes don't check them. Of course, I know of stores that -everybody- checks -every- system they take in. It's a gamble, really. Honestly, I believe the most you get is $30-35 for a ps2, and that's the store credit amount. The cash amount would be 20% less.
Also, I agree with arun. If you're going to be getting a PS3 just for games, it's not worth it right now. There aren't many games out for it right now, and most of the good ones are already on the 360. I only have Virtua Fighter 5 (which is awesome, btw) right now, and even that is coming out for the 360 in the summer. I'd say, if you -need- a gaming system right now, get a 360. I got mine just recently (January) and I'm loving it.
On the other hand, the PS3 makes a decent media center. It's ability to play .ts files and blu-ray movies makes it pretty handy if you've got a decent HDTV.
So I'd say that if you have a good HDTV and are looking for a good media center/game system, you'd get a lot out of a PS3 (although you should probably wait a few more months for the software library to fatten up a bit). If you want good games -now-, you can't go wrong with a 360. Of course, it you -don't- have an HDTV, forget about getting either and save up to buy one first. O-o
