There is an announced release of Final Fantasy game for PS3, but till now producer Yoshinori Kitase and also director for several FF games, states that they hav no plans to reveal what it is, except it's in development for PS3. We can only cross over fingers for now.

So do I get to smack you in the face if their Final Fantasy title for the PS3 turns out to be an FFVII remake? Here's my take on it...if it was going to be the next installment, then they would have just said that it's going to be FFXIII. However, they haven't, and are being pretty hush hush about it. It would lead me to believe that they could POSSIBLY be working on a FFVII remake.

You don't really have to be so rude you know, don't you practice any net etiquettes at all. Think in a logical way, if it's a remake, do u think it would generate as much profit as compared to a totally new Final Fantasy series? I'm not saying the game would be a FFXIII or what, but judging from the way SE do stuffs, I don't really think they would make a FFVII remake for PS3, more likely a side-story to it, if there's even one for PS3 in the first place.

You can try and dream on, but I can tell you it's not gonna happen. When PS2 was just out, they had the FFVIII tech-demo too in real-time. So this is nothing new really, the tech-demo is just there, for showcasing PS3's capabilities. Nothing more, period.

I tend to have a crude sense of humor, so sorry if you were offended.

Of course I know about the FFVIII technical demo; they did the same thing on N64 with FFVI characters. However, Final Fantasy X was announced back when the technial demo was shown. The difference here is that the upcoming Final Fantasy title for the PS3 doesn't specify that it's going to be the 13th installment in the series. This leads me to believe that they could possibly be working on a FFVII remake. Not saying that it's going to happen, but it's possible at this point in time...until they reveal some more details.

Yeah, anything Final Fantasy is pretty much a must buy. I've been playing FF 1 and 2 at work on my GBA lately. Tons of fun.

i so hope they make at least like a one level demo remake of VII. i hear some people want SquareEnix to remake the whole game, but i think it's unnecessary. a demo, or even just a brand new game with just the VII characters would be cool to me.

EGM's rumor corner reported that Square Enix is indeed working on a PS3 version of Final Fantasy VII, with graphic enhancements like in FFVII: Advent Children.

Take it for what you will, but this definitely makes me all giddy. I have this strange feeling that Square's trying to keep this remake on the downlow, so they can surprise the HELL out of all the FFVII fanboys and prove the disbelievers wrong.

Hmmm, FF-VII-2.....??

If that ever came true, I'd play that game 40-50 times...I've played FFVII over 20 times already even if it is in Japanese and I can't understand a thing. The game was simply revolutionary (in my opinion).

I hope they remake FFVII, but a FFVII-2 seems a bit more likely since there will be more story to play through with the release of AC. If they do make 7-2, I just hope it's not . . .as similar to the over the top X-2.

A long time ago I read that they did plan to release both Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII as remakes for the Playstation 2, but that was like two years ago, I think it was "Game Informer" that published that. But now with the next generation systems I think it was better to wait, or who knows the longer we wait the much better the games will look. But hopefully it's during my lifetime.

Supposedly FFVII and VIII remakes were in development for the PS2, but since their movie "Spirits Within" bombed so badly, they had to scrap their plans altogether. They've been doing better ever since they merged with Enix, though...so a remake is very possible.

As far as I have hear, the special edition box set for Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children WILL come with a special international edition of Final Fantasy VII for PS2

I am not 100% sure on this, but I am pretty positive about it

Speaking of Advent Children, is anybody planning on getting that boxset? I mean about 280$ US seems a bit pricey for the contents. From what I've read, the stuff in it isn't anything to be drooling over....perhaps the figure may be something of interest but there isn't even an artbook.

I only have played FF Vii in PC platform. And it was my favourite game during my secondary school time! Glad to hear that it will return with new look and new quality. But I may have no chance to play the new version cos have no money to buy a PS3...

Currently is waiting for the FF VII Advent Children movie! It will be released on 14/9/2005!
