Okay, okay...before any of you piss your pants, an FFVII remake hasn't been confirmed-- YET. However, Square Enix unveiled a special video for the PS3 which featured the opening sequence of FFVII, recreated entirely with next generation graphics. The video looks absolutely amazing...I literally shed a tear after seeing it. At this time, SE is saying that they have no plans to make an FFVII remake, but we'll be seeing FFVII on the PS3 in "some form". Hmmm, some form...I wonder what they mean by that.

You just never know with Square, though. I think with the stir they've been causing with the FFVII clip, a remake for the PS3 is inevitable. I know they did something similar with FFVIII, recreating the entire CG sequence with PS2 graphics...but one could only hope! GIVE ME AN FFVII REMAKE NOW, SO I CAN BUY TWO COPIES!: One to play, and one to cuddle with during my sleep.

It is indeed a good thing to hear. FFVII was fucktastic on the PSX, now imagine how it's gonna be like with NEW graphics~ omg

Now i just need to save the $812398172937128973981723 to buy a ps3.

No need to worry about pissing my pants, but I definitely crapped myself. That's freaking sweet, no more pixelized Tifa and Yuffie. The new graphics kind of ruined Cloud's hair, though, it doesn't remind me of a chocobo anymore.

Yeah, they did kinda ruin Cloud's hair. It looks too realistic now! I wish they went with more of an anime aproach, but I guess they were trying to show off the realism of the PS3's graphics engine.

I really hope that Square Enix will develope it. Don't they know that remake = sales = win?

Yeah, anything FFVII will sell better than the bible.

It's years after the original game and FFVII merchandise is still selling, not to mention cosplay, Tifa fanboys, etc.

It's also one of the few things that would seriously consider making me get a PS3 in the immediate future.

If they do confirm it.... I bet Shiva is going to melt her surroundings rather than freezing them. At least if she'll look as good as that trailer. Oh and Knights of the Round will own. I just hope they don't make it like 30 minutes long or something

Is it a remake? I heard it was just a video to show off the power of psp? But if its a remake of FF7 im the most happy guy in the world but going to end up the brokest to. Need to buy psp

Sorry! I'd love to see the remake as well! In fact, I've often thought, if I ever become insanely rich, one of the first things I will do is pay game companies to remake their old games which I love. I tend to love 4 or 5 old games more than all the new games put together, it's just that some of them are just TOO old now ..

It's a sad story because they "used up" so many great, great stories and concepts at a time when the technology was just not there to deliver the full experience, graphics, sound etc .. so now we have that tech but so many new games seem to be scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Whoa, I thought about the same exact thing last night when I was in bed. If I was insanely rich, I'd make companies remake games as well.

Im kinda sceptic about this but I sure do wish this happens.
More than that I would like to see a remake of FF6 which is even better than FF7

Usually these tech demo's are just tech demo's.
Well we can make an exception in Nintendo DS.

Or then they could make a mix of ff6 and ff7 together.

A completely new story. Square-Enix megamix.

Don't dream. There won't be any remake for FFVII, if there is SE would already announced it pior for PS3's launch. So far only confirmed titles tat is related to FFVII are:

FFVII: Before Crisis (HP game, only avail in Japan, NTT DoCoMo fones)
FFVII: Crisis Core (slated for PSP release)
FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus (slated for PS2 release)

There is an announced release of Final Fantasy game for PS3, but till now producer Yoshinori Kitase and also director for several FF games, states that they hav no plans to reveal what it is, except it's in development for PS3. We can only cross over fingers for now.
