i'm happy to see that they have managed to keep the team alive even with all the departure, but i'm worried about how long it will tak before being competitive again

^ Probably not. With all the new players from BK and C-ute, the team is likely going to have to go through a couple of "rebuilding" years.

the loss of two goalies, konkon and Nono, along with the country musume's Kimura Asami and Miuna, are probably taken it's toll. they are veterans, anyway. the new members are still rookies. but i had hope for them in the near future. Ganbare, Gatas!!!

Just browsed through some Chinese forums and Japanese Gatas related blogs.

Before Game 3 Samurai Crew vs. Gatas was played, there was an exhibition match between C-ute and Berryz.
Okai Chisato was playing brilliantly, and helped C-ute in their victory over Berryz.

Okai Chisato wasn't placed in the official Gatas roster, but in game 3 vs. Samurai Crew, Tsuyoshi Kitazawa decided to put Okai Chisato into the game.
She was very active on the court, but with the big 3-Yossi, Miki, Mai losing their legs , Gatas didn't manage to pull out a victory.

But I am so looking forward to see Okai Chisato being listed on the official Gatas team, maybe she will be the next Asami with greater potential.

I heard from someone who went to the game on saturday that Chisato had played (and done rather well, too) on the third game, which I found surprising because she's so small and doesn't seem like she particularly likes sports. After reading some more on that match, I'd like it if she was added to the new Gatas roster.

While this is not exactly a place to do shameless plugs (but where else would I get Gatas fans to read this, though?), I'd like to comment that I just recently started out a new Gatas website which you can visit by clicking on my signature. I'd appreciate any input and criticism to make it a better place, too!

great darje, liking the website, great info, better than the official site for me (cuz i can't read japanese, hehe ). i learned alot more about gatas and futsal in general then i did before. hope u can continue this, keep it updated and with videos if possible. i'll be checking regularly for any gatas-related news. thanks again, darje.
P.S. in the Gatas history, the page display the 2006 info as 2005, meaning there's two years of info labeled as 2005, just a heads up. it's below the pic with the 9 members.

is the Sphere league and the Skylark Group league similar to like the NFL and the AFL of american football? or is it their sponsors? but i actually thought H!P was the sponsor.... if someone could help me understand this.

btw, i never knew Korenaga Miki was such a great player, representing the Sphere League in tournaments and winning awards like Most Points Earned (Golden Boots, haha). Is she like an All-star player when she represent Sphere League?

how many other futsal league is there? besides Sphere and Skylark Group League, i haven't heard any other Leagues,... assuming they are like NBA, NFL, AFL, NHL, MLB in America.

H!P only sponsors it's own team, Gatas. Skylark Group is a restaurant chain that sponsored Gatas and organized several tournaments in the beginning before there was any league. Korenaga and another H!P Egg named Miyuki Kawashima were specifically auditioned for their futsal skills to act as "ringers". Kawashima later quit in early 2005. The Sphere League was started later that year for the idol/celebrity teams. Several tournaments would be played and whichever team racked up the highest number of points overall would be league champs. Each team was allowed to have one ringer (Korenaga for Gatas, Kajima for Carezza, Utsuki for Team Dream, etc.) The ringers are usually the ones chosen for the All-Star team, which played against better, non-league teams (high school, college, clubs). The Skylark Group League was started only recently. Along with Skylark, other Gatas sponsors, Addidas and JAL, have gotten involved by fielding teams of their own in this league, so presumably it's their way of keeping all the PR time to themselves while Gatas rebuilds. I wouldn't be surprised to see the two leagues play eachother in the future like the NFL and AFL since all the sponsorship is tied together in one way or another.

Basically, yeah, although the only team in the Skylark Group League at this point is Gatas (since the website has profiles for no other teams). adi-UNIT5 belongs to Adidas, Emulsions belongs to Shiseido (a hair/skin care company), and Samurai Crew belongs to JAL.

However, the league that has Team DREAM, Carezza, chakuchaku jb and others isn't Skylark's, it's the Sphere League. Going on a limb, I think that one's sponsored by Fuji TV, but I'm not sure.

It's too early to know if they won't play them anymore, since after all, Sphere League teams used to play in Skylark Group tournaments.

I don't think the two leagues should be seen as totally separate entities like the NFL and AFL. They're more like two different series of games for points. It's up to the teams whether they want to join up and compete in that series. Considering the poor shape that Gatas is in, they would get ousted right away if they competed in the Sphere League. With low points, they would be placed in the reserve league where they wouldn't be allowed to play against the big teams. If Gatas gets no publicity time, then their sponsors would be wasting their money. The new Skylark league looks like it was created specifically as a remedy for Gatas' current woes. They get to keep playing while all the publicity time is kept in the family, since everyone involved is a H!P supporter (Skylark, Addidas, JAL). I'm not sure, but I believe Shiseido is also tied to H!P in some way. I think Nacchi endorsed their products.

If Gatas can get its act together, I think we'll still see games between them and Carezza/Dream/etc. because, in the middle of the last Sphere League series, there were seperate tournaments like the Goodwill Cup and Osaka Kings Cup, which had nothing to do with the Sphere League's points competition.

I read darje's Gatas site (good job!) and found out that Gatas was a great team. although it is to promote Gatas, the facts are very interesting, the player's info are great. i never knew the girls were that good, although they also need to work on their weak points. Especially yossie, one of the most feared and respected players in Sphere league, Mikitty aggresiveness, Tsuji's speed, etc. when i watch some videos i didn't really notice this stuff, although i didn't watch alot of Gatas video in the first place, only a few and i don't notice stuff like this. Now i'm really interested in watching Gatas games, especially the early one, before mid-2006. i really love to watch the Gatas if anyone knows where i can find the early videos.
