Ocean's 12

A disappointment. Too much scenes was left on a editor's desk... But I'd like to see a director's cut.

i watched Curse of the Golden Flower. It's by the same director as Hero and House of Flying Daggers.

Honestly, it's such a goooooooooooooooooood movie. The cast rocks - GONG LI, CHOW YUN FAT? and yes, it has Jay Chou in it.

Personally, I think Jay Chou sucks in that movie. Still, since it has Gong Li, it's still a good movie to me.
Recently, I watched Eragon - a good movie for entertainment purposes.

Dreamgirls anyone? I've seen it three times because i worked at the theaters... even though some parts are corny, my friend and I find it really good haha... too bad we didn't experience anything like what her brother experienced, when it first came out--- loud gay people applauding for Jennifer Hudson. lol.

Bamboozled.

I saw some mirrors in what I'm trying to create. who is to judge? Who is to say what is right and what is wrong?

But damn whatta an ending. Love the guest appearances by Paul Mooney and Mos Def.
One of my favorite movies! It gets a little annoying when people missed the point and say that movie sucked because it had blackface in it. Mooney was great, but I couldn't get over MC Search. I've heard that a movie called "Dancing in September" is similar, but isn't "so over the top."

I just saw Magnificent Butcher(sort of). I knew there was a fight scene with Yuen Biao and Lam Ching Ying(The guy using a fan), so I wanted to see the whole movie. I started to get really tired, so I just skipped to the fight scenes. I love fighting fans and the guy fighting with the monkey staff was cool too.

Letters From Iwo Jima (2006)
Watanabe Ken, Ninomiya Kazunari, Nakamura Shido
Dir. Clint Eastwood

(Copied/edited from an e-mail message):

One couple behind me in the ticket line (which stretched past the front door, almost to the stairs leading to the parking structure) was grumbling about the crowd and speculating out loud if they would even make it inside in time for "Letters."  "It's NOT a mainstream movie," said the guy, also hoping that the screening would have the usual ten minutes or so of trailers and ads for Coke.  I got the tickets about five minutes after showtime (7:15 PM) and only caught the tail end of a B&W trailer featuring George Clooney and a lady with a German accent.

The movie...  good, although not particularly groundbreaking or revelatory.  Watanabe still has that good screen presence.  Ninomiya, playing the main grunt of the movie, gets just as much screen time and could even be the lead character.  The storytelling jumps around (since they have to "read" the letters to you, the audience) and while the flashback scenes work for me the narrative dealing with the different battle scenarios (Watanabe in his bunker, Ninomiya battling to stay alive) sometimes didn't play out too smoothly for me.  I'm sure the story could also have been cut some (a LOT of movies seem to be two-hours plus these days).

I've never seen any of those "Greatest Generation" movies ("Saving Private Ryan" etal) so the more brutal war movies I've experience were in more recent settings (Vietnam, most prominantly).  There's not too much gore in "Letters" as expected, though what's there IS effective enough.  There is a stylistic look in the movie that portrays the atmosphere in a very muted color scheme that looks B&W at first glance.  Only the effects of war (explosions, gunfire, blood) are in rich and vibrant colors.  This actually worked out for me, surprisingly.

I've read that the budget for this movie was small enough to almost label it an "indie picture."  It's true that most of the movie takes places on sets and the SFX isn't dominant as in most Hollywood movies these days, focusing things on people and dialogue (which I guess is what "indie" movies are all about).  "Letters" is a story about people I was attracted to and could relate to, and that's something I don't see too often in motion pictures these days.

Domino - 2/10

I was expecting Keira Knightly as a bounty hunter kicking ass. Instead I get Keira Knightly as a bounty hunter wanting to star on a reality TV show and so much editing and scene transistion in one minute that it would make you nauseous.

Wallace and Gromit : The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit - 9/10

Brilliant. Haven't laughed so much at a movie, let alone an animation, for some time. And it is genuinely funny, it doesn't need A-list celebrities to voice characters or stunning animation (although the movie is incredible in that aspect as well) but a funny story, likeable characters and a real sense of charm and heart to it.

Bluebeard - 5/10
He should have found a better reason to kill and a more entertaining way.

The Little Shop of Horrors - 10/10
Hilarious! I wish I had seen this sooner :D Everybody should see this (although I'm not sure everybody would appreciate it)!

The Prestige 7/10
First I thougt it was a copy of the book "Mr Strange and Jonathan Norell" - Set in London in 1890's with rivaling Magicians. But it really wasn't. I thought they would prance around and do magic stuff but it was more about doing tricks on stage. So I was a bit dissapointed. ^_^
I liked the movie though.

this movie is hilarious! I originally wanted to watch Eragon but since my friend came late we can only watch this. I was pessimistic at first but it's so funny!
