Ugh, Fox Loco Phantom. I downloaded their latest album a couple weeks back and it was terrible. That said, here you go.

http://community.livejournal.com/indie_yuuwaku/tag/fox+loco+phantom

I have that new QT album too. I'll try upping it tonight.

Many thanks kind sir.

I was looking through my messy ass files of things I haven't listened to and found their first album in there... did you already share that? I knew I heard that name before, but forum search didn't pick it up...

Nope. Wasn't me.

Limelight on the blue Q.T.

Also does anyone have anything by or (know anything about) the band Squimaoto? It's my understanding that they have one album out but it it seems impossible to even buy it (which is what I want to do) outside of japan.

ah ok, but thanks again.

And after listening to the first few tracks of both albums, I agree Fox Loco Phantom's first album was far superior, but still found the second listenable.

And while I'm making requests,

Just found this band Fox Loco Phantom. How would I describe them... Dance Punk/j-indie? Well they're pretty awesome.

http://www.myspace.com/foxlocophantom

anyone have their albums? Found them but I'm like 305th on queue... and some other guy has them in but different encodes/bitrates for different tracks and I HATE those.

dude, I uploaded Fox Loco months ago in my 1st post in this thread along with Wash? and Usagi.  Although I deleted that post a few weeks ago. hahaha.
I agree the 1st album is better. The post-wave/dance-punk-ish stuff is better suited to bands like the Telephones.

I'm currently in Japan right now.
Saw Bugy on the 22nd.  I love this band but was mildly disappointed at the songs they chose to play. Here's the setlist:

(don't mind the other crap in the photo, it was for a post in a diff forum)

Also went to soutaseiriron, leo imai, group_inou on the 26th. I like soutaseirion's chillax groove but they are one of the WORST bands to see live. Bunch of lifeless mannequins on stage. group_inou on the other hand brought down the house. Easily one of the best live acts in Japan right now.

Caught Dieundokai2008 on the 27th with Far France / King Brothers / Midori / Zoobombs / nhhmbase & usotsuki barbie.
To sum up how freaking loud and energetic the show was... Midori was the tamest band in the line-up!!
Actually, that's misleading. Midori actually played an "acoustic" set as Mari-chan left her guitar backstage. And oh yeah... Mariko SHAVED HER HEAD just over a week ago. She looks uber freaky but still oozes with charm on stage... in a sadistic sort of way. hahaha.
King Brothers impressed me the most. I had heard they are one of the loudest bands on Earth... and goddamnit that rumor is no exaggeration.  The best part was when they threw their equipment into the middle of the audience and started playing right in the center of the crowd.
I took some videos:

you have to skip to ~2min mark to actually see the band. hahaha.
My vids don't give a good sense of how manic they are so here's an older YT link someone else upped:

i didn't take any other vid footage but I have the entire show in audio.
Zoobombs were great as always but they essentially did the same extended jam they played opening for Qomolangma Tomato at the show i went to last month.  here's a quick clip i took b4 security told me to stop:  (note qomo came on stage to jam with them)

Saw the band apart and Scoobie-Do last night nad will catch Zazen Boys tonight.

Lol I was wondering where your post was. I knew you posted the Fox Loco Phantom album up on here.

I quite like Bugy's setlist, on the other hand, lol. "Romancist" really hit me; good mixture of recent tracks.

Anyway, forgot to ask you, but how is nhhmbase live? You would assume they would be pretty tame judging from their studio tracks, but I guess not lol.

ah so it was you  sorry about that, that's why you don't delete your posts. XD That and why I should listen to stuff when I get it. But I knew I've seen that name from this forum, but it was gone.

oh and I actually prefer that album to The Telephones but w/e. :P

And is that the zankyo compilation I see? Need to go look for that.

I'm finally in the mood to go look for stuff, but the summer is already ending... not like school or sleep will stop me anyways >_>

Everytime you post I tell myself I need to go to Japan.

How long are you staying in Japan, double? I'm heading to Alleyhall on Sunday to see GROUP (and possibly some other bands as there's no actual schedule...) if you want to hang out.

I do wonder if they're your cup of tea, though.

I actually leave on the 31st but I'll be back again Oct 4-19.
I've seen shows at Shelter, 251/440 and Que in Shimokitazawa but I had never even heard of Alleyhall until you just mentioned it.  Sounds like a cool live house for bands just starting out. Superdeluxe (in Nishi-Azabu) seems to be a new-ish live house that caters to avante garde/experimental bands (mostly non-rock). I probably wouldn't be interested in most of the bands that play there but I would have loved to have seen Phewwhoo

and maybe this band:

maybe. hahaha.
I can up the Phewwhoo album but it's back home in Toronto. It's pretty decent inst music in the vein of Special Others and toe (but not as melodic or skilled/tight). Bonus points for the female drummer though.

Oh, and I've heard of group_inou and Group Home (in the same clique as Gang Starr/Jeru) but I'm ignorant as to who GROUP are.
Maybe you can enlighten me.

re: boykun.
Hey man, you're gonna laugh at what happened.  i know you warned me not to go "live hopping" and just head straight to Zazen Boys but I couldn't let those stupid Jill Decoy (don't even ask!) tickets go to waste.  I was under the false assumption that Sherbets were opening for Zazen Boys but when I got to Liquid Room at 750pm (show started at 7pm) Zazen's set was already over!
Ah well. Mukai et al are playing a ton of shows until the end of the year so i should have an opportunity to catch them again relatively soon.
Oh yeah, for fans of Perfume (like boykun) you might get a kick out of the following audio clip:
http://www.mediafire.com/?xhgmny4oev1
For the nihongo-challenged, what Kenzi (Far France) is saying:

Summer... summer's about to end, huh? Did you guys go anywhere this summer? The ONLY thing I did all summer was go to a Perfume concert.  Midori's keyboardist, Hajime, is also an otaku-Perfume-freak.  Anyone who wants to chat about perfume.. stick aound after the show.

LMAO.

Far France has a new album coming out early next year (they've alreay started recording).
Here's a sneak preview of one of the songs "Ira Ira" performed at a live earlier this year at Shinjuku Motion.
http://www.mediafire.com/?w8aaotyfqkb

And to answer boykun's question. You're correct that nhhmbase's studio reordings are mellow but they sound more powerful live.  Nice stop/start dynamism ebbing and flowing in intensity.
here's the latter half of their set:

^lol, sucks that you missed them. I guess Asai Kenichi is more important that Mukai
But Perfume for all. Disco!

That nhhmbase recording was better than their studio recording, imo. lol.

btw, I was wondering if anyone had anything by these cats,

http://www.myspace.com/bandbaku

Kind of diggin their clammbon-esque groove.

There's a Perfume otaku in every band, they're as required as a drummer.

^lol p

PHEWWHOO are awesome. I was supposed to go catch their release party with GROUP and HB among others, but I was completely worn out because of the heat earlier that day. Tough luck.

GROUP - and (part 1 & 2)

They're basically an instrumental band backed with a trumpet.
