I just got hooked on Heroes and I fucking loved the first season. So well written and some of the plot twists were truly  Anyways the beginning of the 2nd season has been a bit disappointing. I'm not a big fan of the "Peter in Ireland" storyline and the new heroes have been kinda boring so far. Good thing they added Kristen Bell to the cast to spice up the things. Monica will probably become interesting as soon as she watches a few more kung fu flicks.

I'm afraid that they are gonna add too many new characters and that the old heroes get shafted. For example Niki ain't done shit so far, which really sucks since she just learned how to control her power. However I'm not really worried about the 2nd season cause they are still setting up the story arcs and I enjoyed the last two episodes (not fucking with Season 1 tho). Things will get even more interesting when Sylar gets his powers back......

Hiro in feudal Japan is pretty cool and there has been some visually amazing scenes but I hate it how they didn't show Kensei fighting against the angry ronins. However I hope that Hiro doesn't spend the whole season in Japan cause I wanna see him interacting with the other heroes.

I just watched the 5th episode and it's probably the best episode so far (even without Claire and Sylar). Parkman's dad has got one of the craziest powers in the show and I sure hope he doesn't get killed anytime soon. That whole nightmare scene with Matt and Nathan was sick as hell! Makes me wonder if Matt will become as powerful one day and how the other heroes will evolve. I hope Peter gets out of Ireland as soon as possible cause that storyline has been boring so far. Elle's appearance has been the most interesting thing so far but she didn't even meet Peter (at least not yet). I'm not really feeling the New Orleans storyline but I gotta admit that Monica's future could be interesting. But like I said, she needs to watch a few more kung fu flicks. Oh yeah, Mohinder is a moron and he will be so fucking lost if Claire's dad gets killed like the painting predicts.

:thumbsup to adding Kristen Bell to the cast, she was cool in the latest episode. I hope she sticks around for the rest of the season.

Shiiiet, I almost forgot. Y'all guys better check out the epic Hayden Panettiere thread  :pimp:

Great episode yesterday. I'm sorry to say that I was overjoyed with the absence of Claire and her high school problems. As much as I like her character, the last few episodes were ridiculous.

And yeah, Mohinder is still an idiot.

Hiro needs to get some balls and kick the the other guy's ass to the curb, he's the real hero!  Obviously he's not geek enough to figure out that maybe HE IS the real Kenseii!

The latest episode is pretty good and the story is finally getting interesting (looks like the gang has to save the whole world this time instead of just New York). All the different storylines have been improving lately (besides Claire's) and the preview for the next episode looks crazy

Word. Claire's storyline has been horrible so far and it only gets worse in the 6th episode. Claire's boyfriend is annoying as hell  :banghead:

Not sure what to think about the "twist", it's like season one all over again, just without the bomb and with more casualties. And the new character, Adam Monroe, same Adam that left a note for Peter, I guess? The current cast barely gets any screen time, enough with the new ones.

And yeah, Claire's storyline still sucks.

Heroes creator keeping head high (TV.com)

Tim Kring not bugged about criticisms of hit NBC show, says episodes seven to 11 are "best episodes we've ever done." Heroes has been on the tips of television-viewers' tongues a lot this year, but not for the same reason as last season. The superhero show was a breakout hit last year, but this season it has been the target of critics who cite disjointed storylines, too many characters, and a lack of direction for disappointing fans. Viewers have also tuned out; last week's episode rang in the worst numbers in the key 18-49 demographic ever for the series, according to Nielsen Media Research. But there's one man who isn't fazed and thinks fans shouldn't be worried either: series creator Tim Kring.

Speaking with The Los Angeles Times, Kring dismissed the numbers much like many other television executives have: DVRs, online episodes, the Internet. What's more, ratings drops are taking their toll on almost all shows, not just Heroes. As for the rest of the criticism, Kring is promising that it will all make sense. "It will all be paid off by episode 11," Kring said. "From seven to 11 are the best episodes we've ever done." The Heroes crew has always said that this current season would be split up into "volumes," with the current one, titled "Generations," concluding midseason.

"One of the things that we found is that, by the end of the (first) year, we were dragging a tremendous amount of story behind us that had to be paid off in that final episode," Kring said during a conference call, according to Salt Lake City's Deseret News, "which made for an episode that the (audience) expectations are so high that it's hard to meet everybody's expectation."

But that didn't stop the writers from adding several new characters in the offseason, and the result is too much story to pack into one hour of television per week to satisfy everyone. "Part of what happens on any show is that you enter a relationship with your viewers where you teach them how to watch your show and they teach you what they seem to be responding to," Kring said, reports the Deseret News. "And we, I think, are in this process right now of teaching the audience how to get used to the idea that not everybody is going to be in every single episode."

Some think that Heroes is just undergoing a sophomore slump. However, Kring may be thinking that viewers are looking at season two a bit too harshly by elevating season one unrealistically. "People tend to look at last season and see things in it that were not in it. We haven't deviated that much [from last season's formula]."

 :thumbsup

Heroes: Origins Canceled

Fears of a writers strike may have already contributed to a decision NBC made Wednesday to pull the highly anticipated spinoff miniseries of its hit "Heroes" from a midseason launch.

NBC declined comment, but "Heroes: Origins" is not going to get its six-episode run, which was expected to start as early as late April. While the network hasn't officially canceled the spinoff, producers of the series have been given no indication of when it might get a spot on the schedule. Sources indicated "Origins" may be just the first of many projects lined up at the broadcast networks in 2008 that will get downgraded as a result of the potential strike, which could severely affect the TV industry. Budget allocations made months ago for a range of scripted programs, many of which will not be feasible without sidelined writers, will likely be reconsidered and potentially shifted to strike-proof material like reality and news programs.

"Origins" had been highly touted as a midseason addition since NBC's upfront in May, when then-entertainment president Kevin Reilly envisioned spelling "Heroes" when it took a late-season hiatus. The network had been promoting "Origins" well in advance of its premiere, noting the enlistment of such top directors as Kevin Smith and Eli Roth to write and direct select episodes.

However, it is also possible that NBC, now under the creative direction of Ben Silverman, may have seen its enthusiasm diminish for an expansion of the "Heroes" franchise given a pronounced ratings drop-off in recent weeks for the flagship series. It is unclear at what stage "Origins" was in the preproduction process, though it is unlikely scripts had been completed. In other NBC news, unscripted series "The Singing Bee" has been yanked from the schedule for the upcoming November sweeps period in favor of expanded two-hour installments of "The Biggest Loser."

 :banghead:

Not sure what to think about the "twist", it's like season one all over again, just without the bomb and with more casualties.

At first I was like "What? Again?!" but since this is only the 2nd season of the show, I don't really mind having another epic threat. However I hope that the 3rd season has a bit smaller threat cause saving the entire world every season will get old really fast. Too bad the writers will most likely come up with another threat that threatens to wipe out the whole mankind  :P

Not posting here to discuss Season 2, not showing over here in the UK yet, but I thought I could maybe drop this in here. Wendy and Lisa (from Prince's band in the 80's, the Revolution) score the music for Heroes! :w00t: Funny how everything I like seems to swing back to Prince in some way :D

Just begain watching the Season One DVDs after hearing the raves from my friends today.  Just finished the first two eps and I am very captivated.  I don't watch much American network television but this material makes me think of returning to the fold.  Sucks that the Powers That Be aren't in synch with the members of the Writers Guild.

I SERIOUSLY hope the writers come up with a compromise with the producers soon because I want eps 12-13 of Heroes. This "Generations" arc isn't very good. :(

Wooooo, episode 7 showed early here in Canada!  They said that episodes 7-11 were the best eps in the first season, and it looks like its following in season 2!  Everything is starting to piece together, and stories are getting more interesting to watch.

Adam Monroe!  Well, i read other people's comments on him and who he is, and they were right!  But it was still kinda a shocker to me when I saw him.

Here's something interesting, Adrian Pasdar has a youtube account.  He uploads really really random videos of the heroes actors between scenes.

Heroes' Creator Apologizes to Fans

Tim Kring admits mistakes were made at the beginning of season 2, but promises to get back on track

On the chilly Monday morning that Hollywood's writers went on strike, Heroes creator Tim Kring called from the streets outside the Hollywood studio where his NBC series is shot. ''Yes, I'm picketing my own show,'' says the 50-year-old writer-producer. ''So surreal.'' But Kring wasn't calling to discuss labor woes — he was calling to explain why Heroes, suffering a creative decline and a 15 percent ratings drop from the same period last year, went from Human Torch hot to Iceman cold. The good news? A turnaround appears to be under way. After weeks of sluggish storytelling, the Nov. 5 episode recaptured some of last season's fanciful energy. We've also seen the next two episodes — and we like them, too. The cliff-hangers are back. Narrative purpose has been discovered. Old favorites like Peter (Milo Ventimiglia) and Horn-Rimmed Glasses (Jack Coleman) take center stage. Even more encouraging: Kring himself is keenly aware that Heroes is broken. Here's his candid critique:

THE PACE IS TOO SLOW ''We assumed the audience wanted season 1 — a buildup of intrigue about these characters and the discovery of their powers. We taught [them] to expect a certain kind of storytelling. They wanted adrenaline. We made a mistake.''

THE WORLD-SAVING STAKES SHOULD HAVE BEEN ESTABLISHED SOONER The premonition of nuclear apocalypse created a larger context that unified every story line last season. Kring now sees that Volume 2 (the first 11 episodes of season 2) would have been better served if Peter's vision of viral Armageddon had appeared in the season premiere rather than episode 7. ''We took too long to get to the big-picture story,'' he says.

THE ROOKIES DIDN'T GREET THEMSELVES PROPERLY New Heroes Monica (Dana Davis), Maya (Dania Ramirez), and Alejandro (Shalim Ortiz) ''shouldn't have been introduced in separate story lines that felt unattached to the show. The way we introduced Elle (Kristen Bell) — by weaving her in via Peter's story line — is a more logical way to bring new characters into the show.'' (That said, Kring says a few newbies won't make it beyond this second volume, which wraps Dec. 3.)

HIRO WAS IN JAPAN WAY TOO LONG Hiro's (Masi Oka) time-bending adventure in 17th-century Japan — where he mentored samurai hero Takezo Kensei (David Anders) — finally came to an end on Nov. 5. But Kring says it ''should have [lasted] three episodes. We didn't give the audience enough story to justify the time we allotted it.''

YOUNG LOVE STINKS Kring regrets sticking Claire (Hayden Panettiere) with a super-dud boyfriend and forcing Hiro to moon over a cutesy princess. ''I've seen more convincing romances on TV,'' he admits. ''In retrospect, I don't think romance is a natural fit for us.''

Yet while Heroes has finally found some dramatic traction, this second volume is pretty much a wash. The Dec. 3 episode has been retooled to function as a potential season finale — a move inspired by the writers' strike and a desire to give the show ''a clean slate'' when it goes back into production for Volume 3. At that point, Kring wants to craft a rebooted Heroes that can attract new fans and win back those who've tuned out: ''The message is that we've heard the complaints — and we're doing something about it.''

Best episode yet, and it didn't even have Sylar.

Word. Great episode even though Parkman learned how to do that nightmare thing a bit too fast. He definitely shouldn't have been able to beat his dad so easily. One thing still hasn't changed: Mohinder is an idiot. The highlight of the episode was Peter leaving that irish bitch in the future

Adam's identity was long figured out, but it's good to have it confirmed.

Well the only reason I knew ahead of time was because I watched G4's post show which made some predictions. So I didn't know myself. But it was the best twist in recent TV history.
