End of post will have the sampler cd they were giving out if you wanna hear these bands~
Just got back from the Japan Bash tent show from SXSW, a bit of a promotional show for the actual Japan Nite show at SXSW that I'm just 2 months too young to go to. I showed up with Joe and two other friends a couple hours early, where we got to hear Oreska Band do their sound check... i hadn't heard anything from them before, and i was instantly hooked at their awesomeness.
Peelander-Z came out in their silly outfits and did a short comedy bit, they were the MCs for the show, and they introduced all the acts before they came on.
First was Oreska Band, an all-girl sextet of high school classmates (well, actually, they just graduated high school two weeks ago), and they're a really awesome ska band like Yum!Yum!Orange. The trombone player, Leader, has a pink trombone too~ and she's cuuute~ And they all rock out hardcore and they're were an awesome high-energy opener.
After Oreska Band came this weird avant-garde group called Nekomushi. The lead singer wore a kimono and a fox mask and played accordion and the music was... weird. The acoustic guitar player spent the entire first song throwing paper airplanes into the audience, and at one song the singer stepped out into the crowd and started being... weird. She then came to Joe and whispered something into his ear... and joe got down on his knees and she climbed on his back and he stood up and walked her around the audience for a bit before bringing her back on stage.
Next was the act i came to the show for... GO!GO!7188. First Akko came onto stage. I had positioned myself at the VERY front, two inches from the stage, right in front of where Yuu-chan was going to be. And then up came Yuu-chan... I totally freaked out, nearly fainted right there.... I mean, it was YUU-CHAN, RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME! Peelander-Z introduced them, and said "AND THEY'RE LOOKING FOR BOYFRIENDS~!! WHO WANTS TO BE HER BOYFRIEND?" and pointed to Yuu-chan to which i just let it all loose and nearly passed out again. Yumi was so close to me i could touch her without even reaching my arm out all the way. They started off with Jet Ninjin, and from there it was just pure euphoria. They were just so... amazing. When Yuu went to do solos she stepped up even closer to me which was just too much to handle. After the set I was able to get pics with akko and yuu, and their autographs, but we werent able to get to Turkey before they left D:
Next were the Emeralds which i missed 'cause i was hunting down Go!Go!7188 at this time.
After them, there was a surprise appearance by the uber-hawt Pistol Valve that played a song while Asakusa Jinta set up... so cool and so sexy....
And then came Asakusa Jinta... they were also very very amazing. They're just as har described them. They incorporated japanese tongue twisters into their show, as a sort of audience participation thing, and just my luck, i had to memorize the very same tongue twisters a couple weeks ago for my Japanese class so i was able to repeat them back xD The sax player was also very cute, she kept looking at me and smiling; and the bass player stood up on his bass and started doing a solo just STANDING ON HIS BASS, it was awesome. So awesome, in fact, I'm seeing them again this weekend.
I'm sure I'll add more stuff when it all begins to sink in... and I don't think I said "awesome" enough in this post so....
awesome.
Pics and vids to follow when they come up, Joe and one of my other friends had the cameras, not me~
