the album is quite solid. besides kataomoi fighter, i'm really digging the title track and communication gap

Quite the good album I'd say. It kind of has a bit of a mainstream sound, but there's also some experimenting, like the metal track. That was unexpected. There was a good number of songs that immediately caught my ear at first listen. It's made a better impression on me than the last two albums.
So far my favorites are 地球最後の日, アンテナ, and 食わずギライ.

In case people have been waiting to hear about it... the new Go!Go! album (titled, an eye-twisting "Go!! GO!GO! Go!!") is, of course, great.
There's some songs with the more old-fashioned Debut-era GO!GO! style (DokuNoRingo), Turkey-sung Rockabilly feelgood (365 Renkyu Boogie), Chaotic food songs (Sugar and Spice), and about half the songs are what I think of the modern GO!GO! style.  It's always hard for me to stop listening to the LAST GO!GO! album long enough to listen to the new one (*cough*except when Antenna came out following the sub-par 569) but anybody who has liked any era of GO!GO! will be well-served by this album.

Fukuoka figure company Dive will be releasing some special figurines based off of the rock band GO!GO!7188 in November.

The GO!GO!7188 figures will actually be cute bobble-head figures.  All three members, Yuu, Akko, and Turkey, will get a figure, and the company is making sure to pay special attention to the guitars and basses on the models to get all the fine details correct.

Like a much earler post when they said if they could make music, they'd want it to be like these guys! Truly one of my fave bands of all time, just can never get enough of them. Here's a live song I ripped from an old Pop Jam episode, think 2005, live doing a fantastic version of a Tigers song from the Tora no Ana album.

Rock band GO!GO!7188 is getting its first tribute album on March 16, titled "GO!GO!7188 TRIBUTE - GO!GO! A GO!GO!" The album will feature covers performed by 10 artists: bloodthirsty butchers, detroit7, Flower Companyz, MONGOL800, opening, POLYSICS, Ataru Nakamura, THE NEATBEATS, Shonen Knife, and George Tokoro.

Details about the album's tracklist will be announced at a later date.

Last year, GO!GO!7188 celebrated the 10th anniversary of its major label debut. The band is currently taking a break due to bassist Akko's pregnancy, but in the meantime, vocalist Yuu has revived her band Chirinuruwowaka.

Mighty bump! cus well.. they're going away

Today it was announced that GO!GO!7188’s vocalist and guitarist Nakashima Yumi, also known as Yuu, has decided to withdraw from the band. This decision consequently lead to the disbandment of GO!GO!7188.

Sad times. Along with Tokyo Jihen(who is also disbanding) GO!GO!7188 is my favorite bands. Lots of rockin' music, and they were awesome live. To be honest though, I completely understand Yuu's reason. They've gotten stale the past two albums or so. But it still sucks to see them go. Just glad I got to see them on stage now.

My sentiments exactly, boykun. Tokyo Jihen was enough of a shock, but to have GO!GO!7188, my favorite band, break up too.....ugh. Although I'm sooooo majorly bummed about this, you're right about their most recent releases being somewhat lacking. This makes me even more grateful that I was able to see them live a couple times, might have to frame their set list I got and make a mini shrine in the corner of my room (with candles).

Well, back to sulking~~

How did I miss this news?? This is so sad. I do look forward to whatever Yuu does next but guhh... Even with the past few releases not quite being as great as those before, their music is always pretty great for me. I suppose it was only a matter of time, but.. Excuse me while I hide for the rest of the day with their music on repeat. haha
