A tsunami is expected to hit northern Japan and Russia's Pacific coast, the US Pacific Tsunami Warning Center says.

TV's had a flashing map of the areas expected to be hit, on EVERY channel for bloody hours now..
I'd be pissed, if I was recording anything.

the BBC is reporting that 40 cm waves (i can't in all honesty call that a 'tsunami'; it wouldn't even count as 'swell' down at bells) hit Nemuro in Hokkaido - so it looks likes this one has passed without incident.

Hawaii was also on a tsunami watch for part of the wee hours but it was cancelled before I woke up this morning.

There's still a lot of people who have yet to visit Nihon. Myself included.
