A bigger and better Tokyo Tower
« on: November 24, 2006, 03:32:24 PM »
Plans are underway for Tokyo to have the worlds highest tower at 610meters in Sumida City.
They plan to have it built and fully functional by 2011, when analog TV broadcasting finishes. Even though the old Tokyo Tower will cease to function as a TV tower, it's still going to be around to look pretty.

(This is pretty old news, but I'm just really slow to catch on. :D )

So if Japanese women had anything to say about it, it would have been the Tokyo Tunnel instead?

don't they get something called earthquake there? i dunno how advanced modern tech is, but i figure it'll be hard to keep the motion in check during earthquake for it to not fall down/crumble..

of course the designers had include the factor "earthquake" in it while designing the tower. According to what I read on other news the tower will be structurally build similar to those five-storied pagodas you see in Japan. I have no idea how it will work (since I'm not a architect or engineer) but the news mention something of individual structure of floor and balance...

someone back me up with more facts on this please!
:D
