Are you sure? Because every dictionary I have checked with say it means "Longing/Aspiration"

Yea, its "longing to become something".
I would define it as more towards jealousy though

So you long to become something or aspire at something out of jealousy? And what would Sayu be jealous of in this case?

Its hard to explain in english because since Im half japanese and half chinese

I can only think of suitable chinese words to describe it.. but there isnt a word in english that represents what doukei actually means.. :s

Oh, please try! I really want to know, because three friends of mine from Osaka and one of the secretaries at the japanese embassy here all say it means longing, to yearn for or aspire at, and I want to know if maybe you're mixing the concept of a chinese word by the same pronunciation?

Well, maybe its because I know both japanese and chinese I mixed two languages together ><"

But If your 3 friends are pure Japanese then I think you should stick with longing as the definition

Oh man, I was hoping to learn more, but yes, thay are pure japanese. And the secretary from the embassy here is from Tokushima prefecture in Shikoku Island

Anyway, I really think that longing is a good title, we longed for this PB for a REALLY long time

Okay so maybe I can answer this question since I'm Chinese. The pronounciation Doukei sounds exactly like the Cantonese word for envious but the word is not pronounced Doukei in Chinese. It's pronounced Chong jing which directly translates to longing for
