Ayumi Hamasaki - MTV Talk Asia 2006.12.08

I'm not good at capturing, and the computer is nowhere near the TV so I had to record on video then capture the videotape, and the video doesn't get good sound from the cable box. I fixed the sound up with soundforge. The sound seems to go in and out of sync, it's not perfect.

I'm going out soon so I only have time to upload this to youtube (I already encoded the files to flv before uploading to save time. Youtube puts the files online without needing to encode them itself, a little timesaving trick they don't tell you about.)

A better rip should appear on Jpopsuki tracker because rips of Hirai Ken & BoA from CNN Talk Asia have already been on there earlier in the week. If a better rip doesn't appear I'll have another attempt at making a better rip later.

Wait...is Ayu herself speaking in English, or is a translator doing a voice-over??

I can't tell, since the sound is out of sync.

By the way, it would be great if anyone who was able to download it off BT upload it somewhere for direct-downloading, since my BT is screwing up

She is speaking english in parts. Other parts she has a translator. You can tell when Ayu is doing the talking because of the Japanese accent.

I just watched the interview and honestly, I couldn't love her more

I love how she really tries so hard to speak English and the way she really tries to think before saying something LOL Also, she seems very devoted to maintaining a true self-image, and I really admire that

I remember reading in her TIME interview that she actually thinks of herself in 2 parts, Ayu who is the performer and then her "nameless self," and it seems like she still maintains this dual personality, especially when she was talking about how she composes songs and lyrics~ "I have to compose songs as Ayumi Hamasaki... But I also have feelings too." So it seems like the 2 Ayus she visualised for us in the RAINBOW PV still exist^~ LOL

I also liked that she said she would go wherever people listened!

I really hope one day she can do a US tour~ If only J-pop could expand its US and international fandom further!

And one last part I loved~ "Holiday... I don't need that!"

That was so cute!

I thought I'd only be able to watch this on YouTube, but I actually got to catch it on TV!

Ayu's English is amazing

She doesn't really speak much of it on camera (prior to this interview), so I could never really tell how good she was at it. I remember her English was horrible before, but what a change now! You can tell she's spent a long time practicing it, and practicing hard.
