Two pictures I just took of the new comp.

Really like the ability to run all the wiring behind the case so that it's out of the way and helps a lot for air flow.

And with the side back on

^ Thats a BIG fan on the side!

One small problem for me is the lack of dustfilters cos we have a dog so there's lots of hair and dust.
I use speaker cloth before the main air intakes to combat part of that for my server machine.
And I use vacuumcleaner to clean that :)

230mm and there's all three of them + the 140mm at the back  :D I was thinking about making dustfilters from stockings for the front fan...

hello, there, the guy w/ the HP Pavilion dv9610us laptop here.

I bought a 4GB (2 x 2GB) memory for my notebook, and the BIOS does show 4GB, but my os (VISTA) only shows 3GB, why?

also, I checked and my wlan card is easy to get to, so I'm thinking maybe upgrading it to a a/b/g/n wlan card, but I dunno all the details, like compatibility and such...

32-bit OS'es can't address the rest. And depending on the motherboard and BIOS you get between 3.0 and 3.5 GB when you put 4GB in. The rest is reserved for things as the graphics card.
Don't sweat it, unless you really really need 4GB because of some big-ass application, then you could go for a 64-bit OS.
Most of the time you will be using between 1GB  to 2GB max.

The HP site should be able to give you some pointers in what is compatible, you said you checked, so you should already have the type number etc.? As the card is buildin you will need to be carefull to use a compatible one.

Do you have a wireless n home router? You'll need that to make use of the n.

I wanna ask a couple of question to those who might give me a clear answers:

What type of memory RAM is used and the MAX capacity for each slots on:
1) Dell Dimension E510
2) Dell Workstation 370

P.S. bear in mind that those are the stock mobo that's came with it.

1) Dell Dimension E510
2) Dell Workstation 370

P.S. bear in mind that those are the stock mobo that's came with it.

Both of those computers came out of the factory with different amounts of ram installed. From 256MB-1GB of RAM. Both of the those machines use DDR2 memory and for the E510 the usual amount looks like PC3200=400MHz or PC4300/533MHz 2x256MB sticks in dual channel resulting in 512MB overall RAM. The Workstation 370 is as the name implies a workstation computer and therefore uses more expensive ECC RAM in dualchannel mode like the E510. It uses the same speed RAM as the E510 but it's ECC.

If you dont have a OS installed in the computers and cant check the amount/speed of RAM with some application, you can remove the sidepanel of the case and remove the ram sticks and check the small sticker in them and see what the speed is.

If you're getting more RAM, it doesnt have to be the same speed as the old one or ECC. The faster ram will work at the same speed as the old one.

MOTHERFUCKER!!

The main thing I liked about my pc, was the monitor, and yesterday without warning, it shit itself..

FUCK!!  :banghead:

Actually, I don't know if the monitor itself died, or if the hardware on the pc side died..
Here's the problem.... The monitor can only connected to a Fujitsu pc via some crazy unheard of cable, and without another Fujitsu pc at my disposal, I can't tell where the problem lies..

The monitor only has one cable, and that's for the display, sound, power and remote..

Called Fujitsu, and they said I would have to send the whole pc in, and will cost between 60,000~100,000yen to repair...
That ain't gonna happen, that's for sure!!

Luckily the pc also has an RGB connection, so hooked the wife's really old CRT monitor up (about the same size as a Volkswagen), but it's doing my eyes in..  :bleed eyes:

I can find similar Fujitsu monitors on Yahoo Auction, but knowing my luck, I would get one of them only to find then that the problem was with the pc, and have 2 monitors I can't use..

Maybe I should grab a cheap used Fujitsu pc without a monitor, then I could just use it for parts..

Choices!!  :banghead:

Well, if the pc works with another display then the problem is probably in the computer itself. If sending the display for RMA is out of the question and you dont like the idea of getting a second hand unit, then I would recommend getting a whole new system. You can get new 24" lcd displays for under 250$. Parts for a new computer arent that expensive either.

Now that I have my new computer in working order, I can officially call these my new PC specs.

COOLER MASTER HAF 932 Case
COOLER MASTER 750W Modular Power Supply
GIGABYTE EX58-UD4P Motherboard
Intel Core i7-950 3.06GHz Quad Core Processor
G.SKILL 6GB DDR3 1600 Triple Channel Memory
EVGA GeForce GTX285 DDR3 1GB Video Card
Sound Blaster Audigy SE Sound Card
500GB Western Digital HD (Windows XP Pro 64)
1TB Western Digital HD (Storage 1)
1TB Western Digital HD (Storage 2)
Samsung SATA 22X DVD Burner

 What do you do with all that massive storage.. ???
Cool specs, it's still too expensive for most people here to buy computer with that specs...

In general that could be the additional USB ports, audio and general quality of how it was made.
Post the type numbers and we might be able to give more reasons (or not)

Guchi_Jnr said The display is connected with a special cable!
But if the RGB is still functional then its probably either the connector/cable or the monitor

Well, this is the two mobo i consider to buy with my budgets.
ECS P43T-A2 (5 Years warranty) and ASUS P5QL-SE (i think 2 years warranty) the difference is almost $30

I know that ASUS is much more famous than ECS, but does that mean if i use ECS,
it has slower performance and easily damage/broken ??

sorry for my english...  :P

ECS P43T-A2 (5 Years warranty) and ASUS P5QL-SE (i think 2 years warranty) the difference is almost $30
In basic I think the moterboards are very different:
the ASUS has 2 slots and can do 8GB RAM, the ECS has 4 slots and can do 16GB,
The ASUS is desgined for a higher speed BUS (1600MHz) compared to the ECS: 1333MHz max
The ASUS can use 1066Mhz RAM, the ESC max 800Mhz

From this I would say the ASUS is designed for performance, the question will be: do you need that performance.

First, thanks for your trouble.
This is what i think i'll buy. I only use 4Gb RAM max, Pentium DualCore E5200

and for intel chipset P43 which BUS do you think should i use
So, do you think which one is better, i don't quite understand how a BUS can affect performance.
is the performance difference between those 2 boards will be big ??
I only use the computer for ordinary gaming, browsing, etc
i don't do heavy stuff like encoding or rendering...

and does brand affect durability, cause i think my computer will be use for 24/7

FSB (Front Side Bus) is the speed with which the CPU can communicate with the other periferals like Video card and Harddisks.
Higherspeed = more can be done per second.

But unless you are a hardcore gamer (then you would use special video cards) or are editing large video files continuesly you will not notice the difference.

Economic lifetime for motherboards is between 3 and 5 years, then newer CPU's and other things have come along.

Its not so much brand that effects durability but design, there are brands that have special boards with special stuff on them that should last longer.
ASUS, MSI and Gigabit make (or made?) those, I do not really care (as most of the time they are less then 5 years in use with me) maybe others know more about that.

I think most of the big brands are pretty much the same in terms of quality of the components used, each brand has their lower end stuff and their higher end stuff. There are some brands like Foxconn that I hear have poor quality control so you might want to read up on experiences people have had with a particular motherboard before you buy it.

From some customer reviews here http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813135092
the ECS seems to be pretty reliable.
