China will have 30 million more men of marriageable age than women by 2020, making it difficult for them to find wives, according to a national report.

I see alot of them moving away to other countries. Those that can afford to anyway. Maybe some families are saving up money to send their sons away by the time they are of marriageable age.

It's really depressing, sometimes if a girl is conceived, the family will leave it out to die. Mainly because in the Chinese culture, the girl goes to live with the guy's parents. Sad stuff

um..seemingly another 'issue'...more like again, the 'traditional' thinking..

but fairly to say; i'd say that the guys of China (of course talking about the 'straight' population here) should start breaking the mode of 'finding a nice chinese girl' and went ahead and look for ladies OUTSIDE of their Mainland then..

Although very unfortune (at least from a traditional view), I see it as an opportunity to the Chinese men to finally go 'explore' and expand their horizon as to potential mates outside of their own nationality and 'race'. The Westerners, Africans, other Asian peoples have been doing it for sometime, why not China?? I'm sure Chinese guys have the same cultural influence as anyone else...and hey, it's always "chinese girl with white/etc. man", why not "chinese man with white/etc. girl"?? =)

remember that China did expand it's 'seeds' to other cultures back at least from the Tang dynasty (c. 600 A.D.?), why not now??

btw, with all respect to the gay population: i think to say there's less women available in China would 'make' the guys gay, it's a bit far-fetched though.. You are, or you're not. But let's not dive into another topic..

are they actually saying that there are more chinese men than women in china rite now? 'Compare to the rest of the world, china is the opposite then. They say that females outnumber males like 4 or 5 to 1( of something like that, i dunno the exact ratio) in the entire world.

by the year 2020, maybe more women will be born, unless that thing about throwing away chinese baby girls are true, which would be so inhuman if it was. That's awful, why would they do that? and also i once heard a rumors about mainland chinese would often eat unborn babies (fetuses) after they had their first child already, cuz by law, u only allowed one child per family.
what do u think of that?

About 1.1:1 Female:Male worldwide, largely driven by longer female lifespans.

Considering China has over 1.3 billion citizens, I'd say they are still over-populated.
