It seems odd. I guess it might be a combination of being released in late summer (earlier summer releases do better), not being as catchy (?), or UFA not putting the same marketing effort into as they did for Ajisai (no trucks with signs driving around Tokyo).

sales are what will decide the future of the group. So I think they do matter esp. when they are that low.

Personally, I still can't get myself to like the song much, even after seeing a performance and PV. Vocally this song did not go well with them at all. This is one of the few times I did not want to hear Rika's voice; that's how bad it was for me. :evil:  

I liked the b-side though, but that's not the song people are going to hear.

IMO Hitorijime flopped cause:

- the song is average, I don't think people bought multiple copies this time
- no handshake event
- the single got delayed because of Morning Musume's new single, all mag articles came out way before the single and their MF appearance got delayed too
- The concert DVD coming out a week after the single and overall Viyuden has released too much stuff lately, fanboys just can't afford to buy everything.
- no huge Rika buzz, Ajisai was released right after she graduated so of course it got promoted a lot

I think UFA spent so much time & money promoting the latest Morning Musume single that they didn't give that much attention to Viyuden this time. When Ajisai came out Viyuden got promoted more and there was the concert tour too so the hype was huge.

So hopefully their next single will be a fast song and UFA will give them more attention. Another handshake event wouldn't hurt them either. Fortunately it's coming out right before their Fall tour so there will be more hype. However I think it's coming out too soon after Hitorijime. Hitorijime was released only a week ago and their next single is coming out in only 6 weeks. Anyway their sales better improve, I think Hitorijime is the 2nd worst selling H!P single of the year so far (only MKB's Eros has sold less).

NEWS:
Viyuden will perform at Rakuten Eagles'  game on 8/21. After the live performance there will be a handshake for those who have bought  Hitorijime single/purchased 1050yen worth of Eagles goods. Viyuden also appears during the game but I'm not exactly sure what they are doing.

Viyuden's singles have this up and down pattern to them in terms of sales.

"Koi No Nukegara" sold quite well, whereas "Kacchoii ze! JAPAN" didn't do as good. then "Ajisai Ai Ai Monogatari" did really well, now "Hitorijime" was kind of like a disaster.

Hmm.. I never thought about it that way. Berryz, though,  went up gradually until SG, then it started going down xD

But yeah, if V-u-den continues sales like this, their next single should be really good^^

I think it's just the song, it'd probably sell even less if there wasn't a hot dance for it.
I think everything that happens is planned, I'm sure it was expected that this song wouldn't sell as well as the previous songs have. Hopefully the next single will be good, it may have been the plan to put this single in between two good singles.

I realy don't like this song, and I well understantd why it's not selling well. I was amuzed by V_U_Dens previous singles < well, the choreography made me go more like"WTF">, and this seems much like a step back. Or maybe the managment just wants to test how many fans buy thier stuff just beacuse it's their stuff. ANd I totaly agree with Masa on the "to much relising, to less promotion" issue.

My prediction is that after their 5th single, they will start recording their first album (since they have enough singles to include on it as well as maybe a b-side or two and a bunch of original songs) and take a break before releasing it... maybe in December, in time for Christmas?
