Japan has expressed its displeasure at a resolution before the US Congress calling on Tokyo to apologise for the country's use of sex slaves in wartime.

The article doesn't specify whether Japan apologised in 1993, although one would expect they did.

I vote for the Japanese Diet to make a similar resolution asking Washington to apologize for the concentration camps for american-japanese citizens during WW II

The American government did apologize for that back in 1988.

On Sept 21st 1939, just THREE WEEKS after WWII started, the American government decided in a special session of congress not to get involved. Maybe they should apologise for not getting involved sooner. The war probably lasted several years longer due to them not wanting to get involved.

What does this have to do with the US? Were any US citizens forced into sexual slavery? I've got nothing if the legislatures of Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Philipines, Singapore, China, etc. voted on similar resolutions, but the Americans should keep their noses out of other peoples' business.

but yea, I do agree. Every country has their own shames. We should butt out of things that aren't our business.

The Yanks have me perma-pissed but, they are right in this case. Those women, many of whom are still alive now, have not been compensated for the most atrocious of crimes - the loss of ones soul. Imagine if it were your mom - what would be good enough?

It does seem strange that the US is the one asking Japan to apologize but then again, I read the Chinese are PO'd that the Japanese refused to acknowledge/apologize for the crimes that their soldiers committed against civilians especially with the whole Nanjing massacre so maybe US can get the Japanese gov't to own up and at the very least apologize to the victims.
