Small World Cup Q&A with Rika here!

http://hochi.yomiuri.co.jp/feature/entertainment/wcup/news/20060606-OHT1T00153.htm

(1) Who's going to win the world cup? No matter who wins, of course I think Japan! Certainly, in representing Japan, I want us to aim to do our best, so I intend on giving my support.

(2) Which player are you paying attention to? France's Zidane. I met him once during an event at work. In Futsal I have been practicing Zidane's "marseilles roulette" (Zidane's strength in the feint tactic). I'd certainly like to see his magnificent technique.

(3) What do you think about Japan's record? At any rate, there will be many games, but I want to see how Japan fares in Germany! First breakthrough to the primary league! Do your best, Japan!

the prompts are a bit troubling, since the questions are actually incomplete and could have a couple different meanings. but that's the gist of it. rika sure knows her stuff!

- It’s June already. Time flies too fast for Rika – it used to go much slower before she turned 20. Most of the people she's met have told her the new haircut looks good on her.
- After last week’s show, her mom told her she isn't cool at all. She realized she was playing the “cool guy”, so she tries to be the “cool girl” today.
- Rika didn’t watch the Japan vs. Germany match (it lasted until 4:30AM and she had to go to work on the next day, so she let it pass). She won't be skipping the tournament matches though.
- Rika almost forgot about her Dad’s birthday (on May 31st), but her mom reminded her by mentioning their wedding anniversary (May 30th). She hasn't given any present to her dad yet (she did wish him happy birthday via a phone call, at least).
- Rika likes to stick price tag stickers or cellophane tape on random people’s backs (she says it’s a way to start communication with the other person).
- Rika read a book titled “Goal” recently (she read it as a prerequisite to the same-titled movie she plans to watch). It’s a book about soccer (she mentioned that it’s an official FIFA book?), and she learned a lot from it...she just didn’t know if it was a fictional story or not.
- Rika hit her head on the wall behind her pillow when she was trying to go to sleep.

Nice work man, I don't think anyone minds if it's not perfect.
It makes sense to me though. Keep it up :)

loose translation: (it's a tv episode synopsis)

Guest is Ishikawa Rika. In "one question, one answer", recently about getting into singing. Rika reveals how it's tiring being a leader during live performances, though the fans make her happy. Rika also talks about her mistakes and what she loves since entering the showbiz world.

though i prefer her hair longer, i agree rika does outshine the other girls :p i just wish i could be one of those guys sitting next to her...

shouldnt she be into singing ever since she step into the showbiz?lol

yeah... it sounds weird because of my translation. there's a borrowed word カチューシャ ("kachuusha", from russian) that implies a level of stardom beyond simply being a singer. it's sort of similar to say, "virtuoso" singers within the world of opera. but in pop culture, there is no real english equivalent for the translation, or at least not one i could think of for the translation :D

its a good sign that she is getting some training on her singing. its always been her liability being an idol singer. it really helps her out since she leads viyuden.

There was a mention of Rika on this week's Yanen.

It was the "Haropro No.1" part and the topic was "Person who always keeps their room clean." Yossie said that Rika's room was surprisingly dirty and Reina was taken aback by that. Yossie said it was really dirty but she couldn't talk much about it or she'd get yelled at by her. And she imitated Rika's voice, saying, "Why did you say that, Yossie?!"

Apparently, Yossie has talked about Rika's dirty room on tv/radio a few times before. One time on Yantan, she talked to Sanma about Rika's room and Sanma was like "Were there underwears lying everywhere?" but Yossie said no. She said that her bathroom was very clean, though.

sorry to disappoint you, but the meaning of "kachyusha" in the context Rika is talking about, is the 2nd in wiki, i.e. "the hairband"...as you might notice, she is having that sort of hairband on almost all concert pics lately, and she talked about it in chanchamy as well....anyway, good job though, nice to see that this forum finally has a dedicated translator :D

(credit to epifanes & Hello! Online)

- The World Cup is starting! Rika supports Team Japan!
- Rika noticed that she stopped saying what she's wearing in each episode, but that’s because she's only been wearing jerseys lately (it has to be a set of the same top and bottom too).
- Rika watched the Japan-Germany match (she has it recorded), and was impressed by the active/aggressive play of the Japanese team. She also watched the Japan-Malta match (it was on TV right after she came back to her hotel room after the concert), while drinking some soda (she got influenced by Yui and Erika, who drink a lot of soda)
- Other than Japan, Rika will cheer for France (she bought a French jersey as well) because of Zidane and Henry (she’s been a fan of his since she started having interest in football).
- Next, some talk about the match with JAL stewardesses, which Gatas won 7-1. Rika was surprised that the match took place inside the building (the pitch was encircled by some café houses), and she even scored again after a long time.
- Some of Rika’s other strange behavior patterns: buying a manga she already has at home, grinning unconsciously, being 13 at heart (and even in her brain).
- Rika promised to go to see the movie “Goal” with Gocchin, but she ended up going without her (she wanted to see it as soon as possible).
- Rika hates injections (she has it hard, because her blood vessels are really thin, so it’s hard to find it). She can’t even bear to look at it.

Too bad Japan lost today, oh well we can always start rooting for France :D

AUSTRALIA 3-1 JAPAN.  That was a quite weak start for Japan although Rika was supporting Japan. Hmmm... it seems Zidane has affected to Rika somehow.

I bet you she will be on a rampage in the next chanchaka. I didn't see the match, but I hope Japan didn't shut up shop after the 1st goal. Seriously, Japan should have had to much class for Aussie. Now it looks like an early exit T_T (I know, I know, this ain't the world cup thread :P)
