Celebrated Trail Blazers rookie center Greg Oden, the No. 1 pick in the NBA draft, will likely miss the 2007-2008 season after undergoing knee surgery Thursday, the team said.

Sucks for Oden and the Blazers, what with all the anticipation and expectations for the new NBA season having the #1 draft pick.

Man that really sucks. Not only that they used up their #1 pick, but they had to pass up some big talents like Durant to get Oden. I feel bad for Blazers fans and hopefully Oden will recover in time to play at least a few games this season.

NEW YORK -- NBA referee Joey Crawford, suspended following an incident with Tim Duncan last April, has been reinstated, the league announced Monday.

The short-tempered hothead has been re-instated.
Lets see if he can maintain some professionalism in the coming season.

Training camp is coming up real fast, and before you know it the new season is ready to kick off.
With so much negative news surrounding the NBA lately, hopefully it won't affect the new season in anyway.

Harris signs five-year, $42 million contract extension

DALLAS -- The Dallas Mavericks on Saturday signed Devin Harris to the five-year agreement they reached earlier this month.

The extension worth about $42 million locks up the speedy point guard through the 2012-13 season.

Harris averaged career-highs across the board last season, including 10.2 points and 3.7 assists, as the Mavericks won an NBA-best 67 games.

The Mavericks obtained Harris on draft day 2004 in a trade with the Washington Wizards. He would have been entering the final year of his rookie contract.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah Jazz forward Carlos Boozer could miss training camp next week while his son recovers from a bone-marrow transplant in Miami.

Camp starts Tuesday and runs through Oct. 6 in Boise, Idaho.

As soon as my son is home from the hospital and stable, I will join my teammates," Boozer said in a statement released by the team Thursday. "Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated by me and my family during this time."

Boozer averaged 23 points and 12 rebounds during the playoffs last season.

"Carlos has been working out all summer in Miami. ... We are confident that when he rejoins the team he will be ready to compete," general manager Kevin O'Connor said. "Carlos needs to be with his family right now and we fully support his decision."

The Jazz did not release any other information on the child. Boozer has three sons, including twins born over the summer.

Utah released guard Derek Fisher so he could find another city to get treatment for a daughter who has cancer in an eye. He signed with the Los Angeles Lakers.
