Katana is often simply used for emphasis, just like italics.

imho, rivalry itself can take a member to a new level.... hp members without the feeling to beat their rivals wont progress that much... look at shigesan now, imo she's progressing a lot more faster after koharu joined. maybe her feeling of rivalry towards koharu is there, and as her mentor, she needs to keep up with the ever growing koharu.. who knows?

i dont really think theres sucha competition between the girls.. well except for miki ( which is so obvious ).. i think most of them just trying not to be left behind.. like they dont want to beat the crap out of the other girls or gain more popular but its like just trying to update themselves so that they can keep up with the pace that the other girls are in...and i think this is what makes them very good in working together as a group...

Funny that Miki said she has no rival.  Singing-wise, she is doesn't have too many.  Personality-wise, there are just too many to name... for sure are Rika and Abe.   :x

Anyway, the only rival in MM nowaday are those game contests.  Tsunku should do something about that.  Maybe he is too busy managing those girls in Berryz.  One already drop out.

Miki doesn't think she has any rivals because she doesn't think the others are worthy to be her rivals.  :P

 That could be true, but I think remember way back when she said her rival is Ayaya. Personality wise, I think her only rival is Ayaya, from my point of view anyway, I digress....it's cuz they're like the complete opposite, plus Miki turns 180 degree whenever she's with Aya! Puppy Miki and Mistress Ayaya.  :mon XD:

Well, still any observations of rivalry in current H!P??

I haven't watched any Berryz DVDs in ages. Do they still have rivalry or does it go away with age? That'd be so sad ;__;

Ahh if there only was hope for rivalry in the future of H!P :O I hope that keeping Eggs in the background for a few years sparks that little flame of "when I finally get a chance, I'm gonna fucking pwn everyone" in them. I believe I can see it in Nocchi and Sawachan in Ongaku Gatas; I'd be curious to see more Eggs to debut to see if they have the fire and passion in them! BRING ON THE RIVALRY! AIM FOR THE STARS!

I dunno much about the Eggs, but i think they have a strong rivalry mentality towards the veterans of H!P.  i'm not basing my thoughts on anything, it's just a thought that juniors would want to someday reach the top like their respective seniors, either as equal or even to surpass them.
i heard from several attendees and fans of Eggs that the girls gave a great performance of LOVE MACHINE @ the H!P Awards 2008 concert, and been good overall, although i don't follow them that much, i'm expecting a good career from them in the near future.  hope UFA and Tsunku train them hard.  and hope that the other H!P members feel the heat these girls are bringing/ gonna bring  and train them hard too.
Afterall, isn't rivalry and competition builds strength and confidence, which benefits all in the end.  hope it friendly rivalry though, u know...
Strong and intense rivalry helps a person grows and mature but only with a strong mentality and right mindset.  if u don't, then it'll only ruins a person's confidence and they'll start doing poorly.

I think Ishikawa needs competition, that's why they put her in Viyuden... She would not have done well as a soloist....

(Dreaming) Since Viyuden is disbanding, and Mikitty is back out... what if Rika and Miki could get it together again. And to see who should be on top~  :inlove:

And, for lack of creativeness, the group will be Great Ishikawa and Fujimoto. or GIF!

P.S. when did this old post fly back up! :w00t:

That would be interesting. They can graduate Kamei and put her in this unit too, because I liked her voice in combination with Rika's when they sang morning coffee on some tour..

I was watching some old clips and I think Konno and Niigaki didn't get along that well. At least from Konno's site, she was 'negative' about Gaki in at least two occasions.. nothing serious, but still.. speculation is fun haha.

And how does Aika fit in with the current group? Aika was really bugging Reina on some H!M when she wanted to promote her new (at the time) PB.

In Reina's radio show, she talked about going to Aika's house and eating good food. She plans to make future visits as well. I think this is the kouhai Reina wanted. Before Koharu entered, Reina said she wants to be friends and help who ever wins the 7th gen audition but I don't think Reina is that into Koharu as she hoped. The tradition of type O blood sticking together still stands in MM.

What's entertaining for me is the rivalry between Koharu and Aika. Like when Aika says something like, "I'm gonna beat Kusumi-san" or when Koharu wants to do what Aika did but the members are saying, "Koharu? No way!".

Ai lost her rival and the person she looks up to. So I wonder what's fuelling her now? I'm sure being leader added a lot of new challenges.

On the last Hm@ (08-04-13), there was a bit of rivalry between Junjun and Mitsui :D

Mitsui was the only one who didn't give a star for Junjun, and Jun was all "Oh, I don't care/mind because it's Mitsui.". The host suggested a battle between both, and Mitsui was "With that charai (someone who doesn't take things seriously, and also someone who gets in bed easily XD) woman..."

Before anyone says anything, Miki told Mitsui to tone her humbleness down, and KameShige also told her so. So she's just listening to her senpais o/

This kind of honest (but not obssesive) interaction between MM members is what keeps me interested in them :3 on the past months at times it really seemed like it was just a group of soloists working together (hello moutube...), but now things are looking better. Oh and on the next MF episode, looks like there's some more Jun VS Aika again.

^^ And it goes on...

The rivalry was steeped up a fair bit this week and damn, you could see they were taking it seriously! I just hope they carry it on during the show rather than the producers forgetting the whole thing never happened. Is good to see a a bit o' banter between the girls.
