AWESOME.

I actually lost all my Skapara in a hard-disk crash, so this is a good time to grab them all while I'm getting back into the game.

Akira Kobayashi & TSPO - Akira No Jin To Paradise

This is my favorite TSPO album of all, only I could not find the original picture, so I put on this one.

I noticed all the thanks from Masa and Maliciel...

The TSPO files are my way of thanking JPH!P for hosting all of Dan's Enka uploads, I already have enjoyed many hours listening to them.
I hope you don't mind if I will post some Skatalites and Baba Brooks Band songs in this thread, I know they are not JP but JA but they are related to and big inspiration of TSPO.

The Skatalites and The Baba Brooks Band were ghost bands of each other, at the end of 1963 members of the Baba Brooks Band went on to form the Skatalites, which existed officially only somewhat over a year (they reformed in 1983 and are still playing ever since, although most of the original members are dead now), it all went sour after Don Drummond shot his girlfriend Anita Mahfood on 1 januari 1965, the reason was that he was paranoid schizophrenic which was amplified by his weed smoking, he had a past already of entering and leaving the asylum. Prince Buster was a very important producer that often combined the 2 bands and many members of both bands played in either. Also the pool of musicians at that time was rather small and most producers had the Motown model of letting all the singers play with the same background musicians, this caused a uniform and recognizable sound.

The difference between The Skatalites and The Baba Brooks Band is sound, The Baba Brooks Band had the Bluebeat/Straight-Forward-Ska sound and The Skatalites put another Jazz layer over that, it was the Jazz sound of the Cecil Lloyd Group in which several members played before setting up The Skatalites.

The Skatalites became the Soul Brothers Band in late 1965, which later morphed into The Soul Vendors end 1966 and The Sound Dimension in 1967. The Baba Brooks Band lasted till 1966 and morphed into The Jets in 1966 and end 1967 when Lynn Taitt moved to Canada they became Gladdy's All Stars and worked under the monikers of The Crystalites with Derrick Harriot, The Dynamites with Clancy Eccles and Beverleys All Stars with Lesley Kong between 1968 and 1971. b.t.w. The Baba Brooks Band and The Jets also were The Beverley All Stars in their era.

I know this sounds all complicated, but that music landscape was very complicated, the producers tend to rip off songwriters and singers so the only way of getting paid was either becoming producer yourself or musical background player in one of these bands. Successful Jamaicans like the musicians that made money went to Canada (Toronto mainly) and the unsuccessful people ended up in Brixton London. The reason of Canada was that successful people became victim of gangs that tried to blackmail them and rip them off, these gangs had departments in Brixton too but not in Canada. This is the same reason why Lee Perry stalled away his master tapes, burnt his Black Ark Studios at the end of the 70's and went to Canada, later to The Netherlands and ended up in Swiss where he still lives. It is also the reason why King Tubby got murdered in front of his house and all his stuff was stolen.

You see the same names over and over again, in the 70's it was the same but mostly different players.
The most prolific musician of that era is Gladstone 'Gladdy' Anderson, he played till far in the 90s, I think he is the most recorded musician of JA ever. The main percussionists of the 60s-80s are Noel ‘Skully’ Simms and Uzziah ‘Sticky’ Thompson, they are not included in the list down here because they played with virtually every band of these era's.
