Crips co-founder Stanley Tookie Williams lost another bid before the California Supreme Court when the justices unanimously ruled late today not to reopen his case and block his Tuesday execution by lethal injection.

I'm against the death penalty in normal cases anyway.

For the purposes of justice, what's the difference between leaving him in jail and executing him? It's not like he's ever going to get out anyway.

Also, if the purpose of the corrective system is the address problematic behavior and not to punish for past events no one can change, isn't execution kinda silly?

Besides, apparently he's actually found some useful things to do. I can't see the point of ending that because of actions that took place 25 years ago.

The main reason to go ahead is to respect the integrity of the jury decision, but I don't consider that to be a good enough reason for an execution.

I'm mostly against the death penalty. Only exceptions I have are for serial/mass murderers (and then only if there's overwhelming proof that he/sheis really guilty) and rapists/sexual offenders (especially those who prey on little kids). That's just my thing.

I also find it a bit of an annoyance when an offender gets his/her sentence lowered by pleading "temporary insanity". As one comedian put it, if they're crazy enough to NOT know that what they were doing was wrong, then they WON'T know that we're gonna kill them! Tell the whackjobs that it's a magic ride and they'll strap themselves in!!! (semi-joke, semi-real sentiments)

the death penalty is ok with me, especially in this case when the guy whacked four helpless innocent victims. who the fuck cares what he has done since then, murder is not something you can just atone with good deeds.

Err... missed the 'temporary' part.

You can't hold people criminally responsible for things that happen without their volition (e.g. while temporarily insane). The silly "Constitution" thing keeps getting in the way of that.

I neutral in almost everything, I don't really care either way for alot of things.

For this Tookie Williams, in my heart, I do not believe he can do anything in the world to "redeem" himself, he took life, changed the life of the victims family.

And honestly, everything "good" that he's done since then doesn't mean a fucken thing to me. He's a murder, he killed people, permantly stole a son from a father and a mother who loved their son dearly.

So, he deserves the death penalty IMO, he deserves to pay for his crime
