A quick lazy OS /o/
“You didn’t have to run after me you know… Now look at yourself! You’re all beaten up!” Nanashi exclaimed as she pressed some cotton on the wound near Nantene’s lips, with the girl shrieking in response as soon as the alcohol-coated cotton touched it.
Lifting her puppet, Sally, up, Nantene lightly pushed Nanashi’s hand away before in her usual fake and high-pitched voice, replied “That’s fine. It’s for a friend, after all!” she placed Sally down not a second after, showing the so-called nameless girl her cheeky-smile.
The said girl couldn’t help but sigh in response (though at the same time, a smile was spreading on her face).
“Nante ne~”
The smile on her face immediately disappeared. “Did you really have to add that?”
Nantene simply smiled innocently as a reply
--
Nanashi groaned inwardly as she slowly opened her eyes, the first thing she saw, however, was still the darkness as she had her own face buried on her pillow. Luckily, she could still breathe, she still lifted her head up in a hurry though as the thought of dying from suffocation immediately evaded her mind. She involuntarily shivered a second after, feeling the cold wind pass by her surprisingly sensitive skin.
“A dream huh…” She muttered before climbing down from her bed and turning around so she could wake her roommate up. Noticing that her bed was already empty, Nanashi heaved out a sigh. “She left again without waking me up, jeez…” she once again muttered to herself before heading off to team habu’s room, figuring that her said roommate was there already, probably eating some of the foods she had with Komimi.
“For a friend, eh…?” Nanashi unconsciously said to herself as she made her way towards habu’s room. The dream she had earlier was still floating around her head- it was, after all, something that really did happen after they both got beaten up by Mongoose’s cursed members. Even though days has already passed since then, Nantene’s words were still clear in her mind, especially that line. She immediately snapped back into reality, however, as soon as the cold wind once again brushed against her skin. “Cold!” she quickened her pace, hoping to warm herself up with the heater inside her team’s room.
To her dismay, though, the world seemed to be against her.
Or at least Daasu did.
“Nanashi, can you go get Paru and Peace?” she ordered her in an instant as soon as poor Nanashi walked inside the room, earning a puppy-like frown from the said girl in response, being the stone-hearted girl she was, Daasu simply brushed it off with a mere lift of her brows, “You can go take Nantene with you”
Nanashi frowned even more, nodding her head reluctantly soon after, knowing that it would be something like suicide if ever she says no to Daasu’s order. She wanted to ask why though. It was already normal for them not to see the two in the room anymore, especially Paru. So why would Daasu want the two of them in the room now? However, being the gutless girl she was, Nanashi ended up not asking, and instead, just waited for Nantene to stand up from her chair so they could go hunt for the two already.
“Thanks to you I got dragged into this too!” Nantene immediately said in her usual fake high-pitched voice with Sally covering her face, moving the said puppet’s mouth at the same time as soon as the two of them were away from the room.
“Wha-”
“Nante ne.” The short girl immediately added- this time, in her normal voice with a smirk on her face.
Nanashi couldn’t help but purse her lips into a frown in response, heaving out a sigh not long after before changing the topic, “Say, do you know why Daasu wants us to call Paru and Peace over?”
Lifting Sally up in front of her own face again, Nantene turned to Nanashi, and with a smirk on, said in her high-pitch voice, “She’s probably jealous!” her smirk grew wider, “Jealous because she wants Paru to her self! That’s why she wants her there! Daasu secretly loves Paru! Or maybe Peace!” she slightly moved Sally away afterward, now showing Nanashi the smile on her face, “Nante ne.”
Nanashi’s frown grew even more. Seriously, this girl was hard to deal with, especially with her always using that puppet every time. Sometimes, she can’t help but wonder how she can still stay friends with her.
Ah… That word again. Nanashi thought inwardly, halting on her tracks afterward as she locked her eyes on Nantene’s back. As though she noticed it, Nantene stopped too and turned around, her brows both lifted up.
“It’s for a friend, after all…” Nanashi felt her heart sink a little as she repeated that word, her mind once again clouded with that memory.
“Nanashi?”
Snapping out of her trance as soon as she heard Nantene’s- rather, Sally’s voice, Nanashi hurriedly turned to the shirt girl. “Oops, sorry about that, I kind of spaced out there.” She gave off a goofy smile before catching up beside her.
It was weird, how she felt something heavy on her chest every time she remembers Nantene saying that to her. Shouldn’t she be happy instead? That someone actually called her a friend. Most of all, it was Nantene who said it! The Nantene who said she loved her smile and the Nantene who ran in the middle of a fight just to help her.
Ah…
Maybe that’s it.
Maybe it’s because it was Nantene who said it that her chest felt tight each time.
“It’s cold today, isn’t it?” With the use of Sally again, Nantene spoke, but this time, she only lifted her puppet up a little before shivering.
Hearing none of Nantene’s trademark word, Nanashi nodded her head, rubbing her hands against her own arms as she only felt the wind get even colder after Nantene pointed it out. Noticing the short girl walk while breathing in her hands every now and then, Nanashi, once again, stopped walking. “Nantene, can you come over here for a second?”
“Hm?” Obeying her friend’s order, Nantene walked in front of her.
Nanashi immediately took the scarf around her shoulder off, “Here,” Holding both ends of the scarf; she began placing it around the short girl’s neck. “It’ll keep you warm.”
A little bit surprised, yet still thankful, Nantene slightly lifted her puppet up, “Won’t you get co-”
“It’s fine.” The so-called nameless girl immediately cut her off, smiling at her goofily again as she continued on wrapping the scarf around her, and even though she had already finished putting it on Nantene, she still held both ends of the cloth, “It’s for a friend, after all.”
“Nana-” feeling Nanashi tighten her grip against the scarf around her, Nantene immediately pressed her lips shut, her eyes still locked onto the other girl as she continued on looking up at her, puzzled.
The smile on Nanashi’s face slowly faded away by the second, and before she knew it-
“Sorry…”
-she began inching her face closer to Nantene’s.
