FF XIV beta sign-ups (for the PC). :)

I'm thinking about signing up for it, but still deciding if I'll play it.
I mean, anyone could beta test it, but if I get a code and don't use, I feel bad for the community that would really make an effort to improve the game!

I'm far from hardcore when it cames to MMOs, so if I play a buggy game I'll end up just hating it even more, so I'll probably stay away for now, and give it a chance when it cames.

What I wish the most is that SquareEnix would put Triple Triad (FF8 minigame) like they did with the shitty minigame from FF9.

Changing subjects, anyone already got their hands on FFXIII ? Mine just got shipped !!! Probably will have it by Monday! OHhh, I cant wait !  :banghead:

I'm not sure, if I should import the japanese version of FF XIII...
I want to import other things too... (like Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep or the DVD Boxes to Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's...)

I can understand if you want to import Birth by Sleep instead (which I personally don't like, but I know a lot of people do) but Yu-Gi-Oh ???

Don't get me wrong, I like the show, I even went as far as to download and watch the whole thing back in the days when I didn't speak a word of japanese, but between FFXIII, Birth By Sleep and Yu-Gi-Oh dvds ? I'd go with the first two any day.

Square Enix released a statement saying that FFXIII sold over 1 million copies on it's first day. Considering that's for the PS3 only, and at around 8,000 yen, that amounts to something like $40,000,000 in one day. Pretty damn impressive if you ask me. I like to think at least half of those figures amount to Takitty's recent promotion with the game :D

Over a million !!!!  :w00t: That's incredible! I feel lucky I helped, since I pre-ordered from Play-Asia!
And about Ai-chan's promotion, I hope next time Square-Enix to be kind enough and ask Ai-chan to perform the theme song, maybe in VersusXIII, we can at least dream abouit it, right ?

I received an e-mail yesterday saying my game has been shipped and is expected to arrive this Tuesday. I can barely wait!

I just looked at VGChartz, and it says Japan has about 4 million PS3s. SE pulled a sale of 25% of their market ON DAY ONE! Sure they had imports, but still, amazing. And SquareEnix said earlier they expected no more than 1.3 million units to be shipped the first week  They should give themselves a little more credit!

I'm wondering about the FFXIV beta, well, I signed up for it 2 days ago, though, my system may not be as good as most.  Guess what I do have is that I have been playing FFXI for over 5 years, lol.

I like the whole Kingdom Hearts game series, so it is a MUST have for me, to get this game :D And I'm really hyped now for that!
Well... I know, I wouldn't understand any of the japanese dialoges in FF XIII but the game didn't get my interests so far. I think, I'll wait and test the game out before I decide to buy it!

Even though I ended up not liking Kingdom Hearts, I have to admit to be a little interested in this one  It looks interesting, the one on the NDS I was not found of the controls, the PS2 I hated the camera, but I heard they did something to make it not a hassle (incredible since now the psp has less buttons than the ps2).

5 years !? Can I ask you something ? What are your impressions on FFXI ? Especially when you compare it to other MMOs.
You see, I played the game for 2 months, but felt it's so harcore, and demands so much of your time that I ended up giving up. I know some people that play it love this.
Well, if you get to play the FFXIV beta, would you kindly tell me what's different about it comparing to FFXI and maybe some other mainstream MMO (read WoW heheh).

Sure.  But, in regards to FFXI as a game, I like it more than WoW, since, when I played WoW, I went 1-60 with no one to talk to, it was horrible.  But, at least with FFXI, you can have a number of social linkshells in your possession as you want.  I found playing an MMO with no one to talk to hell.  FFXI may be less soloable than something like WoW, though, that is slightly different now, and depending on what job you level, such as Beastmaster, which is soloable form 1 to 75.  here is a link to my profile on ffxiah:

Thanks for the info. I am willing to give FFXIV a chance, so if you don't mind a newb on your back, we could play it together when it's released, because I'm horrible to meet people playing MMOs. Probably because I play it a lot less than most people.

The most people I knew were because I got together with my cousins or a friend, and they made friendship with other people.

I would have given FFXIV a shot if only my laptop had a dedicated graphics card.

Yay I got Cloud to Lvl 100 in Dissidia. Now to work on the remaining 19 characters! XD Also got 100% for Clouds Destiny Odyssey which really irritated me for a while as it was continually stuck on 98%.

This may seems like a really stupid question for you guys, but I'm wondering which final fantasy games I should buy?  FFXIII, the new one, or any of the old ones.

I haven't played a Final fantasy game before and don't know anything about them, really, same with RPG.  I'd always played a little bit, u know at the store where they had the demo once in a while, unless you count Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow on Gameboy, lol.  Though I played the FF7: Crisis Core on PSP and its Great.  I'd also watch the FF7: Advent Children movie and it was great as well.

never really was a RPG player, mainly an action-adventure, shooting, fighting, racing kinda player.  but since my experience with RPG and knowing what and how it really is, I think I"m best suited for RPG-related games, according to my persona.

btw, I had own the PS, PS2, PSP and PS3, lately, and with all that, I'd never reall own a Final Fantasy games, funny, huh?  LOLz  XD ...... so lame  :smhid ....

Well, they're mostly good.

Final Fantasy I and II are available on the PSP. Personally, I'd skip them - they're very different in style than the current games and require more of a time investment than they're worth.

Final Fantasy IV is a SNES era game that was ported over to the Playstation. It's worth a look if you're into retro-gaming.

Final Fantasy VII and VIII are both available from the PSN store on your PS3 for $10 each. They're a bit dated now, but still excellent games.

FF X for the PS2 is the best one currently out. I'd definitely give it a look. X-2 was OK, but not as good as X.

FF XI was a MMO.

FF XII tried for a new direction, but it didn't really click with people.

FF Tactics: War of the Lions (NOT the PSN Store one) on the PSP is a great game. It's a strategy RPG, but very much worth buying.

I didn't care for Dissidia, but lots of people loved it. I'd probably skip it - if you don't have nostolgia for the characters, it's just a mediocre fighting game.

So my recommendations would be X (PS2), Tactics: War of the Lions (PSP), XIII (PS3), VII (PS) and VIII (PS) in that order.

I don't mind, and I have heard alot of people I know in FFXI are going to play too.  When I started FFXI, well, me and my brother played on same account, but, he soon quit, but, meh, account is still in his name, and I don't know anyone IRL who play.

I'd avoid Dissidia and Crisis Core if you're just dipping your toe into the water. Both are games built for fans, and while you maybe able to follow the stories of each to a degree, it's just not as effective if you don't already have an attachment to those characters.

FF Tactics : War of the Lions is just as Asmodai said, a really great game, but it is a SRPG and is different from any of the numbered entries of the series.

Now I loved FFXII, even though there were plenty out there who didn't. Loved the combat, loved the story, the characters and most of all the world of Ivalice. It's like Star Wars with a faux-Shakesperian script. I would personally recommend it, though probably wouldn't be my choice for a first entry into the series.

FFVII and FFVIII were both excellent games, also highly recommended, but can also look and feel rather dated. If you can look past that, then I would go with either.

I was thinking about it myself, and I'd be hard pressed to disagree with Asmo, FFX would be the best choice. Still feels modern and plays just as well. And only get X-2 if you really really feel like you need to.

On another note, if you're looking for RPG's outside of the FF series, I'd go with Persona 3 or Persona 4. Very accessible, a lot to do, takes a while to complete and has fantastic stories/characters/soundtracks

My favorites are FFVII, FFX and FFVIII. So my natural recommendations would be those.
But like everyone else here, I think FFX would be the best place to start today. It's not overly complicated but still has a lot o depth. And even though it's for PS2 it doesn't feel like generations back.
@ BigDnm01
The story is great, the pacing of the game is excellent, you never feel tired of playing it because it alternates well between battles, story, exploration and minigames.

And following Tuffy's suggestion, Persona 3 and 4 are great games, but if you're completly new to RPGs I'd go with FF first because they are much easier and approachable (especially when comparing to Persona 3 which can be very hard at times).

FFXII for me was a mixed bag, great at times and a complete drag at others. I'll just say this, if you're into MMOs FFXII will probably be great for you, but if you don't have the patience for killing thousands of monster to farm every little thing, than try it later.

I don't mind, and I have heard alot of people I know in FFXI are going to play too.  When I started FFXI, well, me and my brother played on same account, but, he soon quit, but, meh, account is still in his name, and I don't know anyone IRL who play.
So when the game becames released I'll keep in touch with you. Especially if they bring some elements of FFXI to XIV, which I probably am not familiar with.  :)
