Ok so, ones with a screw icon are used for upgrading, others are used to sell and rake in the gil. Gotcha. Thanks winner!! :D

Um, closer to.
screw icon = high upgrading exp. but - bonus
'premium' in description = sell for gil
non-screw icon = normal exp. may give a +/- bonus
crystal icon = catalyst, for evolving max level weapons/accessories

Instead of selling, normally I just use the whole bag of 'non-screw' components for upgrading, without caring if they give a bonus or not.

Since upgrading is so simplified now, where all components basically do the same thing, you can pretty much upgrade as much as you want without fear of wasting anything precious/rare.

Cheers winner! I finally decided to jack up the power of Vanille's accessory so now she has something like +40 magic. She can cast those spells hard now. But it was rather shortlived as I'm now on Disc 2! :w00t: I was in awe of the background to Bodhum in that flashback, I must have spent a lot longer in that place just appreciating the scenery more than I should have! XD

FFIX seems likely to head to the PSN. I think I'll pass. Or will I? XD

At first it was rumours, well now....It's official. Dunno, might give it another go if I have the time.

I'll probably get it. I never played it, my GF says it's her favorite of the series, and it'll run on the PSP. Gotta beat Lunar and replay 7 first though.

For me FFIX is the worst of them and by far. Unlikeable characters, crappy story and motivations, fighting and upgrade system aren't all bad but far from the best in the series, nothing in the world really draws you in. Don't get me wrong, it is not a BAD game, but I'd say it's mediocre or at least passable.

I've tried to replay it numerous times to see if maybe I went in with too much expectation since I previously had only played FFVIII and FFVIII, but unfortunately no, the problem is the game. The CGs are great, even today, but still a lot of reasons to play another game.

I could tell you guys many PS1 or PSP RPGs to play instead of FFIX, and I consider myself a big fan of the series. It is with a pain in my heart that I tell somebody NOT to play a Final Fantasy game.

Dude, what. It's not even funny trying to pretend IX isn't the best of the PSX era. VIVI & STEINER 4 LIFE

I'm really lovin' the game so far! Engaging story, superb voice acting, awesome soundtrack, likeable characters, and Lightning is super hot. It's quite linear, but I honestly don't mind it at all. In fact, I kind of prefer it over the ridiculously overwhelming non-linearity of Final Fantasy XII, 'cause, damn it, there were times where I was just plain lost on what to do and where to go. (But the game is still one of my favorites, regardless.)

I'm currently getting my ass handed to me in Chapter 12. Damn monsters are everywhere! Heck, I already used up all of my beloved Deceptisols just 'cause I don't want to face up against the more stronger creatures. I'm such a pussy, lol. But I know with the Lightning, Fang, and Vanille combo, I'd be able to get through it. Girl powaaa-h!

Final Fantasy VI is a gem. I played it last year and I couldn't believe how those little pixels could show so much emotion. This is a game the seriously needs a remake, much more than FFVII. For VII at least we have Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus and Advent Children, for VI we have ... what ? VI.

Agree!

I like FF VII the way it is. Even though I really like it, I really woudn't have high expectations even if it was re-made.
FF VI on the other hand, may arguably be artistically one of the most beautiful games on the SNES. It could be so much more beautiful if remade, in HD with the tech they have now.
Maybe add an extra mission for each party member, and it could be a classic! ..again!

My FFVI for GBA arrived :w00t:
It's just a bit sad that I'm not really surprised by anything because I've played it before  But I think my strategies will be different as I'm more experienced now, and there surely must be some things I've forgotten (since the storyline is so long and complicated). Also I'm much older now so maybe I will even understand some things better than I did when I played it for the first time. :D AND it's much nicer to play it on a handheld than on an emulator on the computer DX

My strategy for FFVI is using the spells Vanish + Death of anything that thinks is better than me.
In case someone doesn't know, this game has a "glitch" we could say, that about over 90% of enemies, including most bosses fall from this glitch. Using these two spells together you can simply beat the entire game with little effort.

Vanish makes the enemies invisible (make sure you use on them) and for some unknown reason to me, everything after connects, so people use either Death or X-Zone. Both work great but the sad thing of X-Zone is that you don't get XP for beating the enemy.

The battle which I remember I couldn't use this glitch was when on the top of a tower the prize for beating a boss is an equip that let's you cast spells for only 1 MP. So after than, I was using Ultima and the Vanish/Death combo the whole game !

A remake of VI would be pretty good. Would honestly prefer it if it was on the PSP rather than the DS, that way they can add some voice over work and increase the graphics more than usual. But I'd hope they change the voice actress who did Terra on Dissidia. Didn't really like it. Keep Kefka's though, it was awesome :D

Haven't played FFXIII in a week! :o Last thing I did I think was the end of Chapter 5 (?), Lightning and Hope running through the Gapra Whitewoods. Great music on there, and obviously it looks very purty indeed. Struggled with the end boss, had to retry 3 times in all, but I started the fight each time with only 2 TP, and as I cast Libra at the start of each new monster I see, it meant it had to take a long time to build up to summon Odin. Learned very quickly though that you absolutely had to have a Paradigm with Hope as the Synergist. Protect is a godsend. But with all the time I spent playing that level in chunks at a time, I had to replay a lot of fights which built up a lot of CP. I fully maxed out Lightning and Hope's Crystallarium by the end and now on starting Chapter 6, I built up so much that now Sacz and Vanille are fully maxed out with theirs as well! So there's not really much point to me fighting in this Chapter 6, I don't want to have my character's maxed out at such an early stage, removes the challenge or the incentive for me to fight. I honestly would have preferred it if the CP you earned doesn't carry across to other characters. But that's just me. Still loving the game regardless.

Something I found by sheer happenstance on Gametrailers, and it's more for the girls. There's a tutorial on how to get a hair style like Vanille's:
Vanille Hair Tutorial

Me on the other hand, I'm gonna see if I can get Snow's facial hair. To be completely accurate, I think I'll let it go unshaven for a couple of days and just shave in random spots for a bit. Seems like that's how he does it :nervous Speaking of, someone correct me if I have this wrong. Snow met Serra on or shortly before Day 1, and they get engaged around 10 days later? Crazy!
