Final Fantasy XIV launches Sept. 30 on PC, March 2011 on PS3

Quote
Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIV will be launched on Windows PCs worldwide on September 30 -- well, provided you've obtained the game, installed it and then clicked on the launch shortcut. This step comes after you've made a choice between two different versions of the anticipated MMORPG: a standard edition, which will retail for $49.99, and a $74.99 Collector's Edition.

The latter edition will enable early access to the game on September 22nd ("subject to initial server capacity," Square Enix warns) and will include a making-of DVD, a Final Fantasy XIV-branded security token, an art book, special cover art by Yoshitaka Amano, a "fully-personalized Right of Passage Certificate" and a stat-boosting Onion Helm item for pre-orders (Standard Edition pre-orders get ze "Garlond Goggles," they do nothing in real life). Both versions offer 30 days of gameplay upon purchase, with one playable character and one non-playable character playing the undignified role of item retainer. Should you choose to continue exploring the world of Eorzea, Eorfee will be $12.99 per month.

Oh, and just a reminder that PS3 is one of several consoles that won't be able to play Final Fantasy XIV in 2010 -- since Square Enix confirmed that Final Fantasy XIV will only arrive on Sony's system in "early" March 2011. Pricing for that version will be announced at a later time.

Story
Quote
In the past, the city-states battled tirelessly, vying for domination and hegemony. Death-mongering beast tribes pillaged the land unchecked, leaving only destruction in their wake. Unseen enemies lurked beyond the borders, striking at the slightest provocation or show of weakness. The history of Eorzea is a tapestry woven of war and strife, stained with the blood of those gone before, and the tears and ash of fallen endeavor.

And yet the love the gods bear this unforgiving land endures, now as always. What is the allure of this seemingly forsaken place? With what hope and to what end do would-be inhabitants journey here to live out their days?

The answer lies with that which gives form to Hydaelyn and all myriad creation in it — crystals. The cornerstone of all things, it is these crystallized manifestations of the aether that beckon the people to come, risking all in the undertaking.

And so it is that adventures too have harkened the call — to bear witness to the epic set to unfold in this land. This Eorzea.
Features
Quote
Conceived and produced by notable FINAL FANTASY developers — Produced by Hiromichi Tanaka (FINAL FANTASY I, II, III, XI) and directed by Nobuaki Komoto (FINAL FANTASY IX, XI), with art direction by Akihiko Yoshida (Vagrant Story®, FINAL FANTASY XII) and musical score by Nobuo Uematsu (FINAL FANTASY series)
In-depth character creation — Choose a race and clan before going on to customize your avatar's face, hairstyle, skin color and more, with subtle adjustments allowing for limitless possibilities
The Armoury System — With defining emphasis on the game's weapons and tools, the Armoury System is a unique class system that influences both character development and an individual's style of play. With it, players have the flexibility and freedom to fight, craft and gather whenever and however they so choose. Simply equipping an item will automatically cause the character to take on the class associated with it
Aetheryte transportation — Traverse the realm of Eorzea instantly using this seemingly supernatural teleportation system
Solo or party play — Adventure alone or in the company of others as you undertake quests and engage in battles on your travels through Eorzea

FFXIV has a Benchmark out!
http://www.finalfantasyxiv.com/media/benchmark/na/download.html

Here's it running on my PC in high mode! you get to choose what character you use in the bench so I picked female Lalafell (SO CUTE)
It looks a little choppy in the video but it was running perfect and smooth when I played it, even though the high mode's screen resolution was much bigger than my screen so I didn't see the whole window XDD

I ran the FFXIV bechmark on my computer, it was ok, but somewhat laggy. My PC is good just my video card that is not that great but considering I can play any of the new PC games on at least medium settings, sometimes even high (of course, when they are not poorly ported) FFXIV is quite heavy.
IF I pick it up, I'll try it on PS3, I know it's not a better place to play an RPG but at least I won't have to worry about the huge amount of problems that pops up when playing games on PC, especially MMO.

Hahahahaha 1.7kb/s

I decided to give up on FFX because I would've needed to grind like hell to get deathproof to everyone and I decided it wasn't worth it.

So I moved on to FFX-2 and within the first 10 minutes my brain melted. WTF IS THAT GAME! WTF IS THE COMBAT, WTF IS THE MUSIC, EVEN RIKKU LOOKS DIFFERENT LOL WHAT oh my god rofling forever. And I hate that like the first mission is some running task where u have to get somewhere before the bad guys and the map is NO HELP so I was like "fuck dis I'll do this later" hahaha

Started Chapter 10 on FFXIII and I spent so long doing battles in the previous chapter to get those credit/incentive chips that at the start, I had already maxed out the crystalarium fo all characters with more CP to spare XD Though it's now reached the point in the game where the roles are available to all characters and the new ones take some mad CP just to reach a new node. 6000? 9000? :o Love it though :D

*EDIT*
