i heard about the aerosmith one, but not the others. actually, my supervisor's brother works on the games (nothing actually game related... it has to do with legal/admin type shit), and he did a lot of hanging out with aerosmith for the upcoming game o_o

I'm not a fan of aerosmith, and I'm pretty sure alot of the people who play the game aren't.

I think it's kind of a stupid decision to make a game centered on one artist.

They should just make new songs available to dl.

Wow, so it's definately true? There is an Aerosmith themed one? :o Any idea on the kind of involvement they've put into the game?

They should just make new songs available to dl.

Problem is, it's all well and good for the hardcore, but the general masses probably don't even bother with DLC and that's probably where the main profit of the GH series comes from.

lol im not sure how much they did for the game, the early reports i read (as early as before gh3's release) was that the next game was supposed to be "heavily influenced" by aerosmith and the band's music... whether that means all aerosmith, or mostly aerosmith, or you play as joe perry, or w/e

Well, Aerosmith fans will love it.

I'll wait to see the set list.

Well it's confirmed. Guitar Hero : Aerosmith coming this June

Still dunno. I like Aerosmith, I've always wanted 'Love In An Elevator' in a GH game. But a whole game on them? Guess I'll wait for the full tracklist first.

Yeah. I never followed them that much, so it'll be a hard sell for me.

Apparently GH: U2 is also in the works. That sounds more up my alley.

So they put out Dream On as a free download to pimp the upcoming game, atleast on this side of the water, as the article said. Awesome song for sure, great fun to play and free stuff is always nice. I'm not really sure what I think about an entire game with just Aerosmith tho. The article says that there will be other artists and music in it, but it'll still probably be mostly Aerosmith. One of my favorite things with GH is the fact that it's big variety in the songs and this kinda takes that away. I'm not sure about the "focusing on the story" part either. I kinda feel like, it's not for the story that you play GH. Ah well, games not out yet, it'll be interesting to see how they work all this out. GH is GH after all, and what better way to start off the parties on Fridays? lol.

I wonder about the prize. Hopefully they won't sell it at the same prize as a normal game tho they probably will.

i hope the one band per game isnt a continuing trend. i guess there's not really a band out there that i like enough to have the whole game based on. i like the variety.

in the aerosmith one you will get some songs by bands that theyve played with and were inlfuenced by like run dmc, stone temple pilots, lenny kravitz, black crowes. also, apparently you start as joe perry and unlock tom hamilton and brad whitford through the game.

while the whole aerosmith nonsense sounds interesting enough, i bet it will be the lowest selling issue in the series... i know i wont be buying it, just renting and beating it in the week i have it for. like everyone is saying, GH is great for the variety.

Also, there's supposedly another GH add-on title thats due out this spring (aerosmith is due in june). its already march so either its BS, been pushed back, or theyre kind of late getting the words out. not even a mention of what it is...

I finally got to play Rock Band. Good songs, but when I did the solo tour, and got to the different countries, there were times where all the songs on the list were songs I just wouldn't find enjoyable playing too. Rock band just really nailed some things. Some of the things in the game I liked was when the girl guitarist of my group would sing a little bit of a song with the lead singer, and another part where my guitarist started singing to the words.

One song that I was so happy they put on there was Maps, by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

lol I actually don't like those games as much in terms of song selection. It's sorta like playing most other be-mani games but in a different way.

Also you can't really compare the games equipment wise when one was designed for the arcade and one is for the home console >_>

Plus you don't actually play as a band in those games.

I completely understand liking the be-mani ones if you're playing alone, but the best part about Rock Band is playing it with other people since it's like you're actually in a band.

I've played with other people in a real band before, and the game simulates that feeling very well for a video game.
It also feels really good when all of you beat a really hard song on a higher difficulty.

^ actually, you can play with two guitars/bass and drums using guitar freaks and drum mania. i can compare equipment-wise because not even counting the layout of the pads (which is way better with drum mania) the feel of hitting the pads is a lot better. im pretty sure the pads are actually made by yamaha. as far as the song selection, there's actual jpop/jrock songs to select from. so yea...it does suck having to pay money for each play since its an arcade game, but guitar freaks/drum mania OWN rock band.

well yeah that's what I meant about the equipment. It's an arcade game so the equipment should be better than the equipment for a console. The drums are really good, but I'm not much of a fan of the guitar freaks guitar  If the build quality of the Rock Band equipment were the same quality, you'd probably end up paying well over 300 USD for the set.

And yeah I know that there are jpop/jrock songs on them (and heavily modified rip-offs  ), but I generally don't like them that much. I like the song list of Rock Band more. Plus you have the ability to dl more songs.

I'm not hating on DrumMania and GuitarFreaks, I think they're good games for the most part, but just gotta defend Rock Band, which I love. :P

Guitar Hero III rules so much. I finally got the PS2 version today.

My band's "Smeg and the Heads", and if anyone besides the British knows where it's from, I love ya.

Just found out that I could use the XBox live mic instead of a Rock band Mic for Rock band,  I've done the guitar stuff, so I was gonna ask my friend if I could use his mic, but the XBL mic is ok for me

Yeah I was thinking about starting my own band, but I think it's going to be hard for me trying to focus on the lyrics and guitar notes at the same time.  I think I'll try playing to a song I already already know.
