Just finished unlocking all the characters.

Congrats dude. I just unlocked Ganondorf today, I'm almost complete
I'm at the maze level.  It's really annoying and long. Any one have tips? or do you suggest that I just keep on going through the doors that I encounter and also fight the neon-green characters and bosses

I cleared all the doors - at a certain point the maps will start highlighting which ones you still need to clear. After that, work your way towards the bottom right - one of the square~ish rooms there has a vortex/nebula in it which is actually a door to fight the final boss.

I'm still only listed as 81% complete SSE mode after beating it - I must have missed a hidden door somewhere.

Actually, I believe that the ending maze is semi-randomly generated.  For me, the final room was pretty close to the middle of the map.
That said, you need to clear out all the fights before that vortex door thing opens up.

As for the % complete, I'm pretty sure that the extra % comes from going back through some of the other stages.  For example, when you go through previously visited stages to get some of the secret characters.  After doing some of that stuff, I'm around 85%.

Also, maybe I missed a trophy somewhere, but for some reason Ike and some others disappeared from my lineup.

^Asmodai: Yeah, think you missed a few of the secret doors. :P
I had 86% when it ended, and 92% after reviting and getting jiggly and wolf. But it doesn't matter. what're they gonna give you for 100%, another trophy?!

^mode107: Since the neon-green chara (evil roster, right?) free your roster back and all are needed to be freed to open the vortex for the boss-fight, so no choice there. The only speedier way is to jump past all the lower-class enemies.  :)
Think there's only one good tip, use the map to see which paths you've missed and the warp doors to get to where you want a little quicker. ;)

I beat the maze yesterday

Yeah my vortex thing was also in the middle of the map, you'll know what door it is by a huge purple arrow.
And yeah you have to fight all the bosses and green characters to get through it. To get the map to tell you the boss fights you need you need to get to all four main save points. those are the ones with the teleportation things on the platforms.

I still need toon link and wolf though... maybe I'll go through and look for stuff I missed this weekend. As for stages I think all I need is final destination and some melee stages.

Thanks for the help.  I was actually totally ignoring the map yesterday, so that was a factor with my strategic thinking with in game. I'm almost done with the maze

Edit: Woo~ beat SSE(86%), got everybody, and my eyes hurt

I guess sonic's special is pretty cheap, but the character himself really has no power moves at all. So it balances out. Just don't let him get it.

Overall I thought the characters are pretty balanced. It really depends on how the person uses the character.
There are some people who can make some of the hardest characters for me to use look cheap, like Snake
But yeah, there are characters who are easier to learn to use than others.

Donkey Kong is all about power moves and grabbing. Just gotta learn to make good use of that instead of trying to move around.

But if you're talking about slow, Ganondorf takes the cake. Even most of his moves has major delay.

Yeah Sonic isn't so great to use for brawling. It's like I'm really playing Sonic adventure when I use him

I FINALLY got to play it Friday. I don't own it yet (not enough $$$), but I have friends that do! Luckily, they already had everyone unlocked, so I had my choice.
I definitely think Pit is my favorite new addition. I found him easy to fight with and easy to win with.  I also like the final smash business. That adds a really awesome element to the game. I didn't get to play too much into the one player mode, but what I saw, I really liked.

I was kind of disappointed with Sonic however. He just wasn't that great.

Try Wolf. He's my current favorite. He's got the pluses of Starfox, but he's a bit more stable and controllable.

Yeah, I still have a nasty habit to self-death - one of the reasons why Kirby and Jigglypuff (and Pit too now) are good for novice players.

The conveyor belts in Pokemon Stadium 2 can also be a nasty surprise.
