Attention all WonderGirls fans!

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for .. “WONDERGIRLS’ NEWEST ALBUM!”
We’d like to thank you for waiting so patiently!
To celebrate, we’ve decided to host a video contest for all of you that goes along with our album launching event!

What do I have to do?
First, you and at least two of your friends should tune into the WonderGirls’ worldwide launching event for their new album on
May 15th at 7PM PST / 10PM EST

The event will be broadcast live through UStream (http://www.ustream.tv/wondergirlsworld)
While the event is going on, record yourself being a part of the event using your
digital camera, camcorder, phone camera – any way you want! Be creative!
(Note: Entries must have at least 3 participants in the video to qualify for contest)
And then submit your team’s video to us!

Who can enter?
Anyone and everyone who loves the WONDERGIRLS, of course!

When can I enter?
We will start accepting submissions from May 15th, 2010 all the way to May 21st, 2010!

How do I send my video?
Send all video submissions to fan@jype.com with the subject title WG EVENT
(Note: Only submissions with WG EVENT as the title will be accepted. We will not look at anything else.)

My sister said she didn't find any WG stuff at Justice, then again it was at the Augusta location and there ain't much over there.

I just got an email from JYP Ent USA about WG's album pre-sale back in September (when they were touring with JoBros). They apologized for taking so long for the full length album to be released because of scheduling conflicts etc. that they're going to compensate by giving WG's new mini album for free to all those who pre-ordered last year. It should arrive near the end of this month, while the album is set to be released in the fall. I totally forgot about that LoL I remember pre-ordering to be one of the first 1000 to get a signed copy of the album plus a laptop cover.

The Wonder Girls may have reached the Billboard Hot 100 last year, but it seems their life and activity in the United States was tougher than expected.

According to Daniel Gauss, who was the group’s English tutor from October 2009 to May 2010, they were treated badly by the American branch of the JYP Entertainment (JYPE) agency, without even being covered by health insurance.

``I once saw one girl in extreme pain (due to a pre-existing problem from an operation) who received no professional medical treatment for the pain, and I saw others with minor ailments go untreated. I am pretty sure JYP, himself, has health insurance in America. Why can’t these girls be covered by health insurance in America?’’ Gauss wrote in an email sent to The Korea Times.

Park Jin-young, the head of JYP, has been considered a hero here for promoting the Wonder Girls in the U.S. and placing them in a position no other Korean singer has achieved, but the English tutor argued that the accomplishment was made by offering the Wonder Girls’ CDs for only $1 at clothing stores. This was already known to the Korean public, as Park himself told a popular television program about how he managed to persuade the store’s head to place the CDs on the counter where customers could see them.

``$1 is less than it costs to buy a little bottle of Coca-Cola in America. No American company would ever employ this strategy because it would be crazy to potentially lose money just in order to get a placement on the charts,’’ he wrote.

Gauss also added that the girls were illegally housed in the JYPE office building, which later resulted in the agency paying a fine of over $1,000.

``Some of the girls spent too much time in their rooms because of the English language barrier _ staff seemed to do little or nothing to get the girls out on the town so they could enjoy themselves,’’ he said.

JYP here in Korea failed to answer the phone, and has not released any official announcement regarding the issue.

I really believe this, I've kept up to date with news of the wondergirls activities, like travelling to Taiwan/china/US/back to korea, in such a short amount of time. Get lag, body stress, over working and being forced to live in a office!? seriously? Also $1 for a CD, it's really for superficial results. The music industry is a cruel cruel place in Korea.

 It would explain why Sun Mi left them, also with JYP's divorce and bringing the girls back to korea, and 2pm doing alot more promotion for the $$$$$$$.

While I do believe this story and feel terrible for the girls living without health insurance, is it really known what exactly are the living conditions of the JYP offices in NYC? JYP himself stays there when he's in NY. The only reason they got hit with a fine is because the building was not coded as residential and the city found out because WG is popular now.

The rest of the article is basically how the Nobody single was sold for $1. That was the strategy the whole time. They wanted young kids who had seen Wonder Girls at the Jonas tour to be able to buy the CD with their own money. Their goal was to reach the Billboard charts, not to make money. It's very obvious that once you reach the top 100 here in the States, you become big news and instead of the company needing to search for opportunities for the girls to get known, opportunities will come to them. The goal was to reach the Billboard and make it so that the Wonder Girls would have future opportunities to reach the US market.

And guess what? It worked. Live Nation actually contacted JYPE specifically to arrange a US tour for WG. WG was also on national TV multiple times. Where are BoA, Utada, Se7en, etc? Still basically unknown.

This tutor who was found on Craigslist is not very professional. Maybe he fell in love with one of the girls or something.

As for Sun Mi, the public doesn't know the real reason she left. She was home sick for the longest time, maybe she really did want to study. Instead of JYPE forcing their contract on her, they let her go back home. While we don't know much about JYP's divorce, I think it's because he spent more time for his work than for his wife, but still, we don't know what really happened. Also, I don't see much difference between the amount of promotions that 2PM does and the amount SNSD does. To me, that's the sign of a successful idol in Korea.

The story here is the case of the girls' health, and that is what worries me. But most of us know what the health care situation in US is like, right?

Hi, this is Sunye of Wonder Girls.
I’m writing because I came across a heartbreaking news while preparing for our comeback.
First… I would like to say that what the English tutor have mentioned is not true.
Especially the story about my father. It is a bit upsetting that personal issues of my family was brought up publicly.
My father was suffering from a long-term illness and few months ago, he was rushed to the hospital when it suddenly worsened.
Upon hearing the news, I immediately flew from New York to Korea to visit my father,
and it so happened that other members were to return to Korea after a week in order to attend an event set up in Korea.
I watched after my father for a week and thankfully he got better, so after consulting his doctor I was able to attend the scheduled event.
He had the illness for almost 20 years, and it wasn’t something that could be dealt with immediately,
so after seeing that he got better, I could settle my mind and return to performing.
Regarding other things he was worried about…
When Sunmi was still not well after receiving a surgery in Korea and flying to New York, although she was against it,
because of our opinion and the company’s opinion she visited hospital frequently until she was fully cured.
We had no trouble with going to hospital over even little things like problems with our skin.
JYPE does not set limit on us entering and exiting the building,
and the JYPE building that we live in was a residence for students before we moved in.

Coming to the US was a matter that we decided upon carefully after receiving the company’s proposal,
and after an year here, the life at New York is fun and we’re thankful, we’ve been seeing and experiencing so many new things.

Even we are finding it hard to understand the points that the English tutor made,
and I decided to write this myself as it is just so heartbreaking for us, who are preparing for a comeback soon.
We have told all these to the company,
and they will take good care of this situation so don’t worry!
We promise that whatever happens, we will tell the truth.
We thank everyone for showing that you care for us,
and we will visit you with our new song “2 Different Tears”!

Let me say just one thing. One day, while recording, I said that I felt a cold coming on and he gave me a bottle of vitamins and told me to always take one vitamin everyday. Then, on another day, he bought five jars of organic honey and told me to always eat one spoonful every morning. Because it was good for my throat. When it was my birthday, you wrote me a heartfelt message on a puppy card you handpicked yourself. This is the kind of “unjust” treatment that we have received. It is because we were unable to give back that much in return.

Some can argue that maybe the girls didn't say it themselves, or they're saying what they were told to. As for me, I'll take it as their words and help support my (realistic) belief in JYP and WG. Take from it what you will.
