December 7 (9.45am)
The girls were now in the garden for the last activity of Morning Musume gathering 07. Yuko addressed them, “Girls, this is the last activity for this year gathering. After lunch, you’re free to go. I hope you have enjoyed yourself this year. Now I pass the time to Kei who is in charge of this final segment. Let’s make the finale a great one!”
Kei nodded and announced, “This game is called SPEED and whoever is the fastest in each round of SPEED will win. At the end of the game, we will tally the scores and the person who emerges as overall champion will win an amazing prize! Of course you can choose to opt out but that means you will have a lower chance of winning. Without further a do, the game shall start and the first round is: SPEED at eating watermelons with bare hands!”
Sayumi and Kusumi screamed “USO” in unison.
Sayumi said, “It’s disgusting to eat watermelons with hands!” She pouted.
Kei smiled and said, “Ok, whoever dares to play, step forward.”
“Hey, Fujimoto, are you playing?” Miki, who was dazing at one side, was rather surprised to hear someone speak to her. Miki shook her head without even looking at the person talking to her. “Don’t you want to win?”
Miki replied flatly, “Sorry, I’m in no mood to play kiddy game. What about you, futsal captain?”
“Miki-tan, I’m Aya-chan!” Aya exclaimed.
Shocked, Miki turned to look at Aya who was grinning from ear to ear. She asked, “Why did you call me Fujimoto?”
“I thought it was fun…”
“Are you playing?” Aya nodded.
“Go ahead then, I don’t feel like playing now. Enjoy yourself.” Miki tried to sound cheerful. She watched Aya leap off towards the grass patch whereby the watermelons were placed and shook her head.
Why did I feel so weird when you called me Fujimoto? Wait, why is ‘Fujimoto’ exclusive for Yossie anyway? She is just a friend. She’s not Aya who has the exclusive right to call me ‘Miki-tan’. “Fujimoto, are you okay?”
This time round, Miki turned around to face the person who talked to her before speaking. “I’m fine.”
“You’re obviously not. What happened?” Yossie asked out of concern.
“Nothing.”
“Tell me.”
Miki fell silent.
I need to get all those thoughts out of my system before I flare up like just now. Shit, I shouldn’t have shouted at Rika. Anyway Yossie will understand better than anyone else. Miki spoke softly, “I overheard Nacchi and Aya’s conversation just now. Aya made me sound like an evil person who finds joy in seeing the pathetic and tortured Goto Maki suffer, you know? She said that I will be angry if she drops the charges against her but that’s not how I feel. I’m perfectly fine about it. Why the hell did she go around telling people her own opinion of how I feel? If it’s someone else, I won’t be so upset. But it’s Aya! It’s my lover!”
Yossie thought for a while before she asked, “Are you really perfectly fine about it?” Miki nodded. “Look at me in the eyes, are you really fine about it? You won’t scold Aya or anyone even if Maki tries to patch up with Aya in the future, will you?”
Miki hesitated. All along, she was confident that even if Maki tried to patch up with Aya, Aya would still stay faithful to her. After all, she almost lost her life to seek justice for Aya. But now, for the first time since the start of their romance, she was uncertain. Perhaps it was the way Yossie phrased it or maybe it was because of what Aya said to Natsumi earlier. She was uncertain about how strong their relationship was and their future. “I don’t know,” she conceded.
“Fujimoto, look at me in the eyes,” Yossie spoke seriously. Miki did as told. “It’s just a matter of time when she gets out. Unless Aya and you elope, there is a possibility that will happen.”
“I know that Yossie.”
“I don’t know whether I’m in the correct position to say this. Forgive her. Let her out. Drop the charges. I know deep inside you don’t really trust me because after all, Maki and I were partners in crime,” Yossie paused before she sighed and added, “I would prefer it to be partners in bed but well…”
Miki couldn’t help but to laugh. Y
ou, big flirt, can crack me up so easily even when I am feeling so frustrated and confused inside. How on earth can you joke in the middle of such a serious conversation? “Justify.”
“She’s pretty much a victim in it. She was our scapegoat. If you talk about punishments for the sins we have committed, I think I should be punished longer than her.” Tears welled up in her eyes as she spoke.
Miki nodded. She wanted to wipe off those tears that were surging their way out of her eyes but she held back. It just didn’t seem quite correct for her to do that. “Thanks Yossie, I know what to do. Anyway, you’re not that bad of a person. ” Miki paused for a while before adding, “In fact, you’re quite a good friend.”
Yossie smiled and held Miki’s hands. “Thanks, maybe Aya sees Maki as a friend as well.”
“Hope so.”
“Miki-tan! I won!” Aya exclaimed as she ran towards Miki. The initial grin on her face vanished when she saw Yossie holding Miki’s hands. “Sorry for interrupting your conversation,” Aya murmured and walked off.
“Yossie, I have to go as you can see. Thanks, you’re great company!” Miki patted Yossie on the shoulders before she chased after Aya.
Yossie gazed at the girl who was chasing after her lover. She murmured, “Thank you for forgiving me and seeing me as a good friend, Fujimoto. You are a nice person too.”
When Miki caught up with Aya, she said, “Aya, Yossie and I were just talking about Goto!”
I should be honest and I should go straight to my point as always or else Aya might suspect Yossie and I were dating or something. Honesty is the best policy. Aya turned around and asked, “Goto? What did the 2 of you talk about?”
‘She told me to forgive her and let her out and drop the charges.’ No, Aya will think that I’m obeying her words. I should talk about something else. “Aya, what do you feel about Goto?”
Aya thought about the conversation she just had with Natsumi.
I pity her a lot but how will you feel if I tell you that? You will probably scream at me again. “You have forgiven Yossie, haven’t you?”
“Sort of.”
“She was one of the key players in that project, you know and-”
Miki interjected, “Goto wasn’t a key player, I know that. Have you forgiven her?”
Aya nodded. She added quickly, “If you don’t want me to drop the charges, I won’t. After all you-”
“Aya, let’s drop it.”
Drop the topic? Why do you forgive Yossie and refuse to forgive Maki? Is it because of our relationship? But it’s over between us! Why are you so selfish? “We shouldn’t have even talked about her in the first place,” Aya murmured.
“I mean drop the charges.”
Bewildered, Aya’s eyes widened. “Are you sure?”
Miki nodded. “Just don’t ever go to bed with her again.”
Aya laughed. “I’m exclusive to you since that day when you confessed to me, don’t you know that?”
Miki hugged Aya and kissed her on the lips. When their lips parted, Miki whispered, “I love you, Aya-chan. Let’s trust each other more from now on.”
Aya tried to shake the image of Miki and Yossie holding hands out of her mind. “I love you, Miki-tan. Let’s build trust.”

December 7 (2.03pm)
Ai emerged as the champion for SPEED and it was no surprise as she was daring enough to do most of the things which included mopping the corridor and reading a paragraph backwards. It was also to no one’s surprise that the ‘amazing prize’ was Morning Musume’s latest single’s Mikan. After lunch, the girls were officially dismissed from the eventful gathering. Morning Musume left as a group, the 2nd and 1st generations left together and GAM sneaked off on their own. Yossie looked around but she couldn’t find Rika anywhere in the villa. “Rika, where are you?” Yossie murmured. She took out her phone and dialed Rika’s number but it was engaged.
************
“Hello, it’s Rika here.”
“Oh. Hi Rika.”
“I know you hate Fujimoto Miki especially her attitude. I have a plan to tame her and I hope you can join me.”
“Sorry, I won’t injure or kill anyone.”
“Relax. I don’t plan to kill anyone. I just want to tame her.”
“Not even injuring anyone?”
“Nope.”
“Ok, count me in.”
Next chapter will be 2 weeks later. I mean 2 weeks after the gathering..(Just feel like adding this in
