Due to the traffic, they arrived at around 9:45. Hitomi parked in front of the shop, Suarez Bros.

Rika was curious of what it was that Hitomi had to buy. She looked around and her eyes widened at the sight of the store’s window display. It was a jewelry store. Hitomi took her hand and led her into the store. The sign said the store was still closed but Hitomi just pushed the door open.

Inside, a man was standing by the door as if anticipating their arrival. “Welcome, Yoshizawa-san. Good morning.”

“Good morning. Do you have them?”

The man walked past them to the door and locked it. “Yes, I have them here. Please have a seat.” He directed them to a pair of chairs by the displays. He took out a large box and opened it. “I have been waiting for you to give us a call, Yoshizawa-san.”

“I’m sorry if I haven’t placed that call until now. I’m glad you worked on them as soon as you got my designs.”

“Well, it has been a year.” He turned the box to the direction of Hitomi. “Here they are.”

“Excellent. You have each size for everything?”

“From 6 to 11…”

“Can you take her size, please?” Hitomi directed the man to Rika.

“Of course…” He took out another box with steel bands of graduated sizes with numbers engraved inside and out. “Your ring finger please, ma’am. The one on your left hand”

Rika gave her hand to the man. He took a steel band engraved with a 6 and inserted Rika’s finger. It was too tight. Then he took one with a number 7. It had the right fit. “She’s a 7, Yoshizawa-san.”

“Good. Thank you.” Hitomi was carefully studying the contents of the box. After a few minutes of gazing at a particular design, she took out a pair of rings.

She placed one on the glass display and the other, she put on Rika’s finger. Rika looked at the ring that Hitomi just put on her finger. Rika wanted to faint at the sight of the ring. The ring was a band of gold entwined with a platinum one. It had two diamonds, a white one and a pink one set side by side. Hitomi took the ring that she set aside a while ago. It was also a ring of gold and platinum but it had a different, but complementary, design. It was thicker than the one she put on Rika and it had sapphire and onyx on it instead of diamonds.

“It’s a good fit… What do you think, Ka-chan?”

Rika was speechless. Is she going to buy this? She really didn’t know what to do and just nodded.

“All right…. Ka-chan, take off that ring first, please…”

Rika took the ring off her finger and handed it to Hitomi.

“Can you engrave words on the inside?”

“Certainly…”

“Will it take long?”

“No. Only a few minutes.”

“Okay. On hers write To-chan and on mine, write Ka-chan.”

“Can you write that down Yoshizawa-san? I wouldn’t want to misspell.” He handed her a piece of paper and a pen.

“All right. I’ll add in a date too, okay?”

“Sure.”

Hitomi wrote down what she wanted to be engraved on the rings. “‘051908 To-chan’ on the diamond and ‘051908 Ka-chan’ on the sapphire/onyx”

“Okay… wait here…” The man took the rings, and left them alone in the shop. Rika was looking down on the floor while Hitomi walked about in the store looking at the displays.

Hitomi walked back to Rika and sat across her. “I designed those rings myself, you know?”

“They’re beautiful…”

“Really? To-san said I’ll never make a living out of art. For a while, I contemplated delving into jewelry design and art dealership.”

“Was that what you really wanted to do?”

“Actually, I wanted to be a professional violinist. I was trained for it since I was three years old until I was thirteen. But they found mama’s will. They thought it got burnt in the house but when they found it, it was authenticated by court. Ken inherited the businesses. See, she really owns the businesses. To-san just assumed authority after her death. He was pretty shocked by the will. It said there that I had to handle the business when I turn twenty and then pass it on to Ken when he turns twenty. Since that discovery, my father bugged me about going into business. He said I should be as tough as nails… like a man… Those were his words. He made me stop playing. I had to hide my violin at Ayaka’s place just so he wouldn’t burn it. That’s when I started drawing amd painting. It was easier to keep secret from to-san. You know those paintings and sketches in all over the house? I did those.”

“Wow… You sure can do a lot… But… umm… You said Ken’s turning twenty soon… What do you plan to do after he takes over?”

“I don’t know…. I don’t really care… I have saved up enough money to live on and I have a house in the U.S., in Japan and here… And besides, Ken’s not the type to throw me out of the company as soon as he takes the reigns.”

“ Yeah… he does seem like a nice boy…”

“He’s a hot item now in Japan. Everybody knows about the will. So girls are crawling about him now. But I think he prefers to play basketball than to run Yoshizawa group. He’s good too… better than me, I have to admit. He’s tall too… 6’4”…”

“Wow… he is tall… and he is good looking too…”

“Better looking than me?”

“…of course not…” The two kissed just as the man emerged from the door her entered a while ago. The scene he just walked into took him aback.

“Sorry, Yoshizawa-san.”

“No. We are. Anyway, are the rings ready?”

“Yes. Here” He handed her a box. Hitomi opened it and examined the contents. The rings were properly engraved and newly polished.

“Thank you.I hope you melt the other sizes now. I wouldn’t want to see anyone else with the same rings. And you can sell the other designs now. I won’t need them anymore. And… here…” Hitomi took out an envelope from her pocket. It was obviously cash. A whole lot of it. “I doubled it since I knew you would do an excellent job.”

“Thank you, Yoshizawa-san” The man quickly took the the envelope and peeked at its contents. He placed the envelope in a drawer.

“We better get going. We have an appointment in 45 minutes.” Hitomi held the box in one hand and Rika’s hand in the other as they stepped out of the store.

Rika and Hitomi were both silent as they sped through EDSA. Although Medical City was closer to where they were, Hitomi had already made arrangements with the doctor they were going to see.

It was strange, yet to their advantage that the traffic wasn’t as crazy as they expected.

They parked outside a small clinic along Katipunan Ave, Quezon City. They had 5 minutes to spare. Still in the car, Hitomi faced Rika and took her left hand. “I know you’re not comfortable coming here. It’s scary, people might judge you for coming in single. That’s why I got you this. Wear that… even just for today… I had my name engraved in that… and the date that I found you… Let me be yours… even just for today… ”

Hitomi took out the ring with the diamonds in the box and slowly put it on Rika’s finger. Then, she took out her own ring, the one with the onyx and sapphire. She was about to put it on herself when Rika took both her hands.

“To-chan… let me…” She took the ring from Hitomi’s hand. Rika took Hitomi’s other hand and put the on her finger. If you wearing this ring means that I’ll be yours… “I hope you’ll wear yours all the time... … I’ll wear mine forever…” Please be mine forever, Hicchan.

Hitomi’s expression brightened up at Rika’s words. Forever. “Ka-chan…” The alarm on Hitomi’s cell phone suddenly buzzed like crazy. The two of them laughed at the timing. Hitomi turned off the annoying warning device. “It’s time…”

Rika nodded as both of them got out of the car.

The two held hands just before entering the clinic.

Rika and Hitomi walked into the clinic. The nurse on the receptionist’s desk and the other older looking patients smirked at seeing the two young people enter the clinic. Hay, nako… mga bata nanaman… pustahan, nagkabuntisan lang ‘to… pag positive, abort yan (*sigh* … kids again… I bet he just got her pregnant… if she is pregnant, they’ll have it aborted) They started whispering among themselves.

Rika partially heard them and wanted to cry because she understood what they were saying. They were talking about how young the two looked and that they’re probably have the child aborted. Hitomi held her hand tight. Even though Hitomi did not understand a word, she read through Rika’s discomfort.

Hitomi went straight to the desk. “We have an appointement with the doctor… and we’re requesting for a pregnancy test…”

The nurse, still smirking took out a form. Sabi ko na nga ba, e… (I knew it) “Paki-fill up na lang, ‘to” (Please fill this up) She handed them a medical information form. The smirk she had on was wiped away at the sight of the rings on their fingers. Mag-asawa na pala… ang bata naman nilang nagpakasa… pero parang bigatin (Oh, they’re married… they married so young… but they look rich) The nurse thought to herself.
 
Hitomi took the form and started filling up the blanks in Rika’s behalf:

While Hitomi filled up the forms, the nurse handed Rika a small cup and led her to a rest room. “Umihi ka na ba, iha?” (Have you urinated, dear?)

“Oo, mabuti naman at alam mo… Sige, iha, maiwanan na kita dyan.” (It’s good that you know… All right… I’ll go on ahead now)

The nurse returned to the desk where Hitomi was waiting. “Hapon ka pala, iho…” (So, you’re Japanese…)

Hitomi had no idea of what the nurse just said. “Sorry… but I don’t understand Filipino yet…”

The nurse was flabbergasted. “Oh… I’m sorry… I said you are Japanese… Is your wife Filipino?”

“…Oh… yes, I am Japanese… My wife, she’s Japanese too, but she’s been here longer than me… She can speak Filipino… I just moved here so that I can be with her…” She spoke loudly so everyone in the reception room could hear her speak.

“You’re married for how long?”

“We just celebrated our second anniversary two weeks ago…”

“Really? Belated happy anniversary… You and your wife look very young…”

“Yes,… Thank you… We’re both twenty three now… … We really want to have a baby soon… It’s been two years and my father’s becoming impatient…”

Stepping outside the bathroom, Rika smiled at hearing Hitomi lying to the nurse and making sure everyone heard. Rika walked back to the reception room and handed the small cup to the nurse who brought it immediately to the lab. She winked at Hitomi who pulled at her. Hitomi had Rika sit on her lap. “Why did you take long? I missed you, Mrs. Yoshizawa…”

“To-chan!” The two laughed together and kissed right in front of the other patients who finally noticed their rings. Most of those who saw the rings knew the rings were expensive just from how they look.

The nurse emerged from the lab. “Mr. and Mrs. Yoshizawa, the doctor may see you now…”

“Thank you.” The two held hands as they entered the room.

“Miss Rika, please change clothes. And take off your underwear, please. ” She directed Rika to a small divider that had a patient’s gown on a hanger

Rika was surprised that the doctor knew that it was all an act. She quickly nodded and headed to the divider.

Hitomi placed her hands on her waist “… am I good, or what?”

“What got you through all that is the fact that you look like a man…”

“Aww… Iida-sensei, don’t ruin my moment of glory…”

“Fine…”

Rika stepped out of the divider wearing the patient’s gown.

“Oh, you’re ready? Lie down here” Dr. Iida directed Rika to the examination table.

Rika laid down nervous as anyone in her situation could be.

“Oi, Yoshizawa, get out— .” The doctor was interrupted by Rika.

“Can’t she stay here? … I would really feel more comfortable if she is here…”

“Well then… alright… This might be awkward for you… Please bend your knees and spread your legs… right… okay… just tell me if something hurts or you’re just uncomfortable…”

“Okay…” Rika just closed her eyes and didn’t complain even when things got uncomfortable. Whatever that discomfort was, it was part of the check-up.Hitomi held her hand as the skillful hands of Dr. Kaori Iida examined her.

“Well, there hasn’t been a full penile penetration. In layman’s terms, you are still technically a virgin, dear… Although pregnancy still is possible in that circumstance, you will have to wait for the test results. An aide here broke my ultrasound… so you’d really have to wait for the test results…”

There hasn’t been a full penile penetration. Rika was puzzled. She didn’t understand how that was possible. Then again, she was knocked unconscious when he punched her that night. She was relieved. But about the pregnancy, Rika didn’t like suspense. After thinking about it she still smiled. Whatever the results will be, it will be good news. Positive Charmy. She got up from the bed and hugged Hitomi.

Hitomi kissed her. “You’ll be my Ka-chan… with or without the baby… go get changed… we’re eating lunch out.” Rika went back behind the divider.

Hitomi turned to the doctor “Iida-sensei, you know where to call me for the results… and you know where to take the papers, right?”

“Yes… the papers will disappear from this clinic faster than you can drive your Z4.”

Rika quickly nodded and headed to the shower. Hitomi ran out to her own bathroom and took a shower as well. The two finished about the same time and met in the living room. Hitomi and Rika were smartly dressed in corporate black and white.

Their MOM's will??? This, I have to say, IS a bit of a surprise. So like, what's to happen to Yossi when Ken takes over? Does she get to stay in the company?

This actually draws up new questions about their father's actual role in all of this. If the business was originally their mom's (instead of their dad's), then upon her death one would normally assume that the dad would take over, especially since he was already involved in the business. But instead she passes it directly off to Ken (and indirectly, Yossi).

Jin must be really pissed about that turn of events.

“Hito-chan… there are so many things I want to do… and going into business isn’t one of those things…”

If he really wants to go out and do other stuff, Ken could always just take over when he turns 20, then immediately issue an order saying that he's transferring control over to Yossi. At least then dad wouldn't get it.

Jin probably wasn't around that much, and if he was he probably wasn't that good of a father, which resulted in Yossi having to grow up quickly so she could take care of her brothers.

Jin slowly walked out of the office with a smirk. “That girl sure is pretty… be careful, Hicchan…”

Rika was scared. Hitomi was angry like that time they came home separately from the meeting with Ayaya. Also, she didn’t like the tone in how Hitomi’s father spoke. As if he had something planned for them.

Hitomi sadly smiled. “For a while, you reminded me so much of Mama… but there was one thing where you two differed… you cried out for help…” Hitomi gently touched Rika’s lips with her fingers. “She didn’t… she didn’t call for my father… she begged her rapist to kill her… he stabbed her to death… right in front of me… she gave up on life and on me... … Rika... please... ... don’t give up… ”

"... Shark... I think we should tell the captain..." A girl was pacing in the Eyes' temporary headquarters.

Rika tried her best to keep her Japanese accent away from her favorite Filipino sentence. “Mahal kita”

“Mahal kita?” Hitomi had the stresses wrong but Rika smiled at her attempt.

“That means ‘I love you’ in Tagalog. I want you to remember that one.”

Hitomi sat up straight held Rika’s hand and looked her in the eye. “Rika-chan, Mahal kita.”

One of the bars of soap was the same as what Rika had been using. She smiled to herself. Oh, we like the same scent. She still had no idea of the soap stealing incident.

Why didn’t I bring clothes along? Rika emerged from the bathroom wrapped in her pink towel.

Hitomi was sitting on the bed, reading the latest issue of Business World when Rika excused herself and sped back to her own room. Rika walked by so fast that she wasn't even able to get a clear view of Rika's legs, but the image stuck in her mind from the other day would suffice for now.

Oh, VERY smart move Yossi. The Filipino medical system isn't exactly the best, to say the least. Regrettably people are treated differently based on their status and how they're perceived. Getting the rings, signing in as a married couple (hell, it's not like the hospital will be looking to verify their story), and making sure everyone heard her story about how they were trying to have a child should help smooth things over and make things easier for them with the hospital authorities.

Wow, I've missed so much! But the ring thing is by far the best, most romantic thing I've ever read!!!! So we still don't know if our "ka-chan" is pregnant.....but I kinda hope she is. So we can see this couple in action! Yeah, I wanna see them in the OTHER action too!!
Their nicknames kinda remind me of when I was a kid. I called my parents Ka-chan and To-chan for a while when I was younger.

... i would love to get them to marry but that's not legal here... so... boo... but the rings really... GGGGGAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!

i update fast because... ... um... there are many factors to that... let's see...

1. i made a deal with tito, 3.5 updates (RFP):1 update (FYI) 
2. i don't think i have that much time to update starting today, since i'm in school again, so i packed in tons of chapters during my vacation... my thesis is haunting me...
3. the story is just GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!! i can't keep myself in suspense for that long... i type the updates on the spot so the story reveals itself to me only a few minutes ahead of you guys...
4. ISHIYOSHI is love... and Charmy-sama , in her rabu-rabu mercy, grants me the strength to write this... in the speed that i write it...

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!! #... i don't know... tito, how much more do i owe you?

The two were back in the car. It was almost noon. Hitomi’s stomach grumbled loud. “Where’d you want to eat, Ka-chan?”

“I don’t know… What do you want to eat, To-chan?”

“… Let’s eat at TOSH…”

“TOSH?”

“The Old Spaghetti House… They have good spaghetti…”

“Okay… let’s eat there.”

TOSH wasn’t far from the clinic. If the it wasn’t so hot that time, they would’ve walked to the place. After having parked the car, Rika and Hitomi walked in the restaurant. It was a small cozy place. Dimly lit and had a rustic façade, Rika felt comfortable inside.

They were greeted by a waiter. “Good afternoon. For how many, sir?”

“Just two…”

“This way na lang po, sir.”
 
They were led to a couch seat. The two sat side by side instead of across each other. After ordering their spaghetti, Hitomi wrapped her arms around Rika. “Ka-chan… you and me…”

“Hm?”

“Are we… … um…”

Rika knew where this was heading but Hitomi looked so cute thinking of the right words. “Are we…?

“ano… …Are we together, together? As in… like… together?”

Rika giggled at seeing how awkward it was for Hitomi to be saying that. “We are if you want us to be...”

“Ka-chan…”

“But if you want an answer from me… … Yes.”

Hitomi was elated. “… … Really?”

“As long as you’re wearing that ring… I am yours… and you’ll be my To-chan…”

“… even if you take off your ring and throw it into the sea… I’ll be your To-chan…"

"To-chan... " Rika took Hitomi's hand and squeezed it tight.

"hmm … ano… Ka-chan… What if you’re not pregnant… would you still want to have a baby with me?”

Rika thought about it and smiled at Hitomi. “I don’t know how that’s possible but if it is… I still would want to have a baby with you…” She rested her head on Hitomi’s shoulder.

If it’s not, I will make it possible, Rika… “I love you, Ka-chan…”

At the office, Yoshizawa Jin was pacing in the hall outside Hitomi’s office.

Ayaka, Mai and Ayumi were just getting out of the office for late lunch when Hitomi’s old man approached them. “Good afternoon, ladies. Where is my daughter?”

Ayaka signaled to Mai and Ayumi to go ahead to the cafeteria. I’ll handle this. “Yoshizawa-san… The president is not here yet. Do you have a message for her?”

“What do you mean she is not here? She’s the president! She’s supposed to be here.”

“She had other matters to attend to, sir. If you have nothing important to tell her, please leave the premises immediately.”

“What can be more important than her work?! I am not leaving this place until she comes back.”

“Please, sir… Leave… By asking you this, I am being polite… I can always ask someone to throw you out of here…”

“Even if you throw me out, I’ll just walk back in.”

“Sir, Yoshizawa Hitomi-san is just being nice to you by not telling the guards to blacklist you from the building.”

“I don’t need her to be nice. I had this building built!”

“But it is the company’s building… It is clear to me that you no longer have a hand in this company. Unless you get Ken-san to order me to let you stay, I will have to ask you to leave.”

Jin was indignant. He didn’t budge. Akaya tried to enter the office to call for security but her arm was forcefully grabbed by the fuming Jin. “I will not let you trample over my legacy in this company!”
