UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rika awoke to a noisy racket outside her room. It seems that the landlord and his wife were fighting again much like how they did so every morning five years ago. Some people never change even after five years.
She reached under her pillow again for the envelope. This time, she did not even look at the contents. She just grasped a couple of bills and pulled them out without even counting. She did not need to be reminded of the choices she had to make in such a short period of time. She did not have to remind herself that she had already made a choice.
She couldn't bear to look at the envelope, thinking about what Hitomi might say about all this. Rika was certain Jin would tell Hitomi about the money as the reason for her leaving like that. He looked so persistent in giving her the envelope with nothing in exchange except for her absence in her To-chan's life.
She put the envelope back under the pillow, not caring if the someone might sneak into the room to steal the thing. If someone steals it, there will be less choices for her to make. And one choice can be unmade.
She then picked up her shoe beside the bed and pulled out her wallet from inside, the wallet Yossui had given her with all the money intact and unspent. She inspected the small pockets in the wallet and slipped the money in her hand in an empty one.
She took the wallet with her to the bathroom along with a towel and a fresh change of clothes.
She switched on the light and locked the door.
A small incandescent bulb lit up the small bathroom.
Rika picked up the sachets of shampoo that hung on the pipe to the faucet. She carefully tore the corner of the sachet. At seeing that the tear was big enough for the shampoo to come out, she laid the sachet with even more care on the sink, beside the wallet and the other stuff she had with her.
She turned the faucet on and watched the large pail of water fill up. Sometimes this take awhile so she wanted to be sure that there was enough water before she undressed.
Compared to before, the water service here now was decent, with the faucet constantly flowing with water. Rika, contented with the amount of water accumulated in the pail, slipped off her pants and ther rest of her garments before taking the shampoo sachet with her to the actual bathing area.

Shark surveyed the perimeter. The police look as incompetent as usual. There were, in fact, to few of them around. Those that she could see from where she stood where asleep or, at least, half asleep.
She cracked her knuckles as a smile appeared on her face. "Man, that car is gonna be at the captain's by 8!"
