The kanji for his name is 虎之助, literally meaning "help from a tiger" (tora no suke). The parents are all about being very straightforward with wanting a strong name, apparently.

I'm surprised no effort is being made to cover up his face, but I suppose he'll look quite different in a matter of months.

I guess it is something for them to present out to the world, imagine Shouji playing out the scene from the Lion King although he can dress like Rafiki if he needs too

True dat. While I myself like my steaks rare, even with a little blood seepage, a properly done rare steak is still cooked more than what some Japanese people do at these yakiniku joints. I know that I've seen TV shows where they go to various yakiniku restaurants and a lot of times, they show that a lot of the guests/customers are way undercooking (or barely cooking, depending on how you look at it) the meat that they're ordering. I'm talking like, 10-20 seconds per side, so there's barely any colour on the meat slices. Just laying it on the grill, then immediately taking it off does not equal meat that's safe to eat. You still need to leave it on long enough to make sure that any bacteria on the outside of the meat is killed off.

^ the sanitary reasons are pretty much the cause of it anyways, once you overlook it, it tends to multiply quickly but tough luck especially with labor costs are low
