Hmm, ok so it looks like I'll be going.

After reading a bit more about it all, it looks like there's not too much reason not to, aside from probably having to skip a class or two.

The best thing would be if I didn't have to stay all day Sunday the 5th though... flying back on Monday would be the main killer... Shouldn't be a problem to get there Thursday morning though (skipping one class that day) and staying at least until Sunday. If I'm getting things right from the AX staff, the only thing that *might* happen Sunday anyway is a big group autograph session with everyone, and even then the "guests" can choose not to show up. Eh.

How's the hotel search going? I came across some hostels for $30 or so a night if you don't want to worry about rooming (though you can get private two-person rooms for about that price too), but if something's a similar price and perhaps a better location (I have no idea about where things are in LA) that might be worth checking into also.

It's beginning to sound more fun than just seeing the girls with everyone from the forums going.

I'm at least as interested in potentially seeing all of you guys! ...and seeing how we interact with all the anime otaku.

So like, any word on how soon tickets for the event itself can be booked? It'd be somewhat...bittersweet to plan this trip and do the meet-up and end up not being able to see them in concert.

if you get a con badge, you get free tickets to the concert. Premium tickets can be booked at the time of registration (provided you're pre-registering) for $20 extra. So as long as you get to the con, youll get to see the show.

Here is a link to the AX 2009 Ticketing FAQ on their forum that should answer ticketing questions and have info as it is available. tenkei basically covered what we do know right now, though. I wouldn't worry much. The L.A. Live Theater seats, I believe, 7000 people, which I frankly think will be more seating than those attending. I read that there was only ~3000 people for Shokotan in 2008, and she's much more oriented to the AX crowd.

I'm more interested in autograph/handshake info, where there is no info as of yet. Oh well, patience, we still have many months.

If you want them to sing Love Machine, you can probably do something that was done at a panel 2 years ago. If their panel is before the concert, line up for the mic and before you ask your question, mention to them that they should sing it and have a bunch of people in the audience cheer or something. The guy made a sign too, but I'm not sure if you'd be allowed in with a sign.

I bet giant turtle suits would almost guarantee a picture with Eri

Aside from the giant turtle suits, imagine the chaos of having 20 people in Banana Man suits dancing around JunJun. Poor girl wouldn't be able to eat another banana again after that hahaha...that's kinda mean but totally funny...to me at least.
